Apologies for late reply. I just checked your account on MyHeritage and indeed you have a family site called "Campbell-Pyle Family Web Site", but sadly no tree has been published / backed up into it, so it is not possible to restore from there. If you think you may have registered to MyHeritage.com also under another email account (not the one ending with "mauipyle.com") then we might still be able to find a backup for you. If we do, it will be compatible with any version of Family Tree Builder, 3.0 or 4.0, you'll be fine.
I really hope we can save some of your data so please let me know whether you might have been using a different email address.
No, I checked thoroughly, that was the only email address I was using, and it really does look like I managed to lose it completely! I don't have time right now, but eventually I will start re-entering the data I have and rebuilding from other family sources. It will take awhile. Thanks for checking for me, I really to appreciate it. The hard drive that crashed with my data on it was unrecoverable, and I had neglected to back that up, so I lost all that, and I moved too fast on deleting the online data file, I now know I could have recovered from that. But too late.
I do not think you will find an actual copy of your file which would be called a backup. It is my understanding that the publishd file that exist on the MyHeritage is what they consider a backup in itself.
You can copy this file back to your harddisk using the following steps.
1. Login to your site
2. Select "Family Tree" from the menu tab
3. Select "Manage trees" from the sub menu tab
4. Locate the Tree that you wish to restore to your harddisk and click on the Download option for that file.
The above will result in a zed file with the name of your tree being downloaded to your computer.
5. Launch Family Tree Builder on your computer
6. Select File from the Menu Bar
7. Select Open Project from the Drop Down Menu
8 In the Load Genealogy Project dialogue window click on Browse
9. Select the .zed file that you downloaded
10. You will then be prompted to download the photos associated with your tree
Answer accordingly and you will then have your site restored to your harddisk and there should be no problem as far as your now using FTB ver 4.0 as it is compatable with files created in ver 3
Hope this helps and feel free to contact me if any more assistance is required
Every now and then, the software asks me to search for photos, i have ALL the photos on the site, but when i use the software offline, no pictures are there...why is this?
Is there a "SYNC" button, so i can EXPORT or DOWNLOAD a seperate file to IMPORT to the Family Tree Builder?
i can import pictures in the Family Tree Builder from my computer no problem, but i cant Import from the MyHeritage Websites Family Tree, iam the webmaster/admin of the familytree page. i dont want to start all over again with the pictures..
Thank you for your suggestion. This is currently not supported. We will note it down for possible addition in the future. For now, I recommend doing such date conversion using a 3rd party website into the Gregorian system and storing the end result on MyHeritage.com.
I have a number of adopted cousins who are part of our family but do not show up at all on the family tree. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is this also part of this problem being worked on?
