If you were invited to a tree and want to work on that tree DO NOT download this Software, use the online tree to participate instead use of this program on that tree will F-it-up
Or better yet allow the guys who is payring for the tree to authinticate that he is tree owner with the master files and your f-ing software wont step on it's authority from another computer, with out the "secrect" tree passwaod.
BY incompentent, I mean this, it should not be able to happen in the first palce when one computer with the master file is authoticted with a tree. No others should be able to, and that's on you, because it's software. Visav incompentent.
From you help files;
Can I use Family Tree Builder on two different computers?
It is not recommended to work with the same project in the Family Tree Builder software on two computers.
The sync function syncs all the changes that were made in your project in Family Tree Builder to your online site and all the updates made in your tree on the site back to the software.
When you work with the Family Tree Builder software installed on two different computers, the updates you make in computer A will update the online site, but will not update the project open in the software on computer B (not even after a sync).
When you then try to sync your tree from computer B, it will not recognize the updates on the family site.
If you wish to work on your project with more than one computer, we strongly recommend that you install the Family Tree Builder software on your main computer, and use the online family site to edit your tree when working on your other computer(s) or mobile device.
This way, all the changes that you make using other computers, will sync back to your software on your main computer.
If you can't, you can't allow it. Therefore, you are all incompentent
I started to build a family tree but I find that it not too be user friendly. I am finding things I added to a persons profile does not show at all or is duplicated for some reasona and hard to find info how to correct it. I want to switch a photo as main photo for the person and there is nothing to ddrag it over and replace. I am constantly getting requests for matches yet unless I join and get the Premium I am not able to view. Most of the stuff that is to be viewed is because of the additions I actually added so not a true Match for new info. (waist of time on my end)
I won't upgrade to Premium with all these faults. Don't see why I should pay for something that does not work properly.
There is no real tech support that I see whether it be free version or Premium.
Dear Felipe, thank you for your prompt response. I hope this idea will be approved by myheritage team and incorporated soon. Chatting room would be great feature of myheritage site(your site will be the first one to have chatting room option) to help family tree members to keep in touch and exchange their news and make announcements. Then I don't have to call to each individual separately, instead I would talk to all of them same time. I think it is going to be a lot of fun to let people to get together, to introduce each other ( some family members live in different countries and didn't know about each other) and chat. Next step will be family reunion!
I have several instances where siblings because of a marriage are no longer X cousins X times removed but now showing related in X number of steps. This makes it extremely difficult when you are searching for DNA relations. I don't feel we should have to go to another program with our GED files (such as Legacy) to find there are numerous relationships with the same person.
When upgrading to version 7 B7143 after clicking upgrade, nothing happens. When you reselect "upgrade" an invalid assumption is made. The software mistakenly assumes the current tree is the most current (It may not be) and pushes the out of date tree up to the web, when it should DO NOTHING.
I can see that at the moment you have already our most recent build of Family Tree Builder. The issue with the update through the software has been already looked into and we expect not to have it again on the newest versions.
Regarding the family trees, it is always important to make sure you don't have irrelevant duplicated files in it, in order to avoid syncing the incorrect one (either manually or automatically) and therefore cause an override and loss of data on the site.
When you have just one project on Family Tree Builder (FTB) and it is outdated with the online tree, you are supposed to receive a message, once you open it on FTB, telling you about that discrepancy and asking you whether you want to download the version from the site to your FTB, or upload the FTB version onto the site -- then overriding the existing version on the site.
Haven't you received that message when you opened that outdated file?
Hi, just wanted to let you know that something appears to be broken in the latest version of Chrome. I was using the family tree last night and it was working fine. Today however it is not loading properly in Chrome for PC.
Sometimes (but not always), when someone has married more than once, the marriages are shown in the wrong order, i.e. the date of the 1st marriage shown is later than the date of he 2nd, on both the Descendants and Descendant Summary reports.
As a PremiumPlus Member, I find the information found through collenctions (record matches) often very useful.
I am finding that FamilySearch matches do not always bring over data that was found. For example, one of the records I matched and acepted the data differences indicated the person had a spouse. I go back to my tree, and look at when the match was done, and see it was 2011, yet spouse if not in the tree.

Have I done something wrong, I typically add net new people, so believe it did not import.
So I went back into this person, re-did the review process, and the missing people now show 'addable'.
I can't see having to review EVERY import of a record to confirm it was susccessful!
The biggest problem with online genealogy sites like MH and Ancestry is that they make it easy for people to reproduce rubbish. Many, many, many online trees have little or no evidence - no actual record base. They are full of entries that are just copies of copies. Of course, that doesn't mean they're all wrong or worthless or anything like that. There could be a lot of good, first-hand knowledge in those trees. But you will have to do some weeding and that will take some time.
My point is that just copying the whole of someone's tree - without carefully checking each record - is the reason why so much rubbish and misinformation has been spread on the Internet. It is important to follow up any link with real research.
MH don't make it easy for you to flag a person that you are not sure about - a person in your tree that needs to be confirmed. One way to do it is to make them "Living" - "not deceased". That way they will be private and not public - not shared - until you've had time to do the research. Another way is to make them gender neutral - the tile/card will be grey - and you at least will know its a person needing more research.
I have vetted the additional inforamtion, and accepted it into the my Tree, yet it did not bring it over the first time. I think I'm going to have 2 copies opened, one to import with Family Tree Builder with and one web based to verify each import, which then means I have to sync after each match is confirmed and imported.
I haven't had any trouble bring over information. Nor have I had any trouble vetting the information as I bring it over. Everything I move to the right pane is editable. Once edited, the SAVE button simply imports the selectied informaiton.
You might need to report your specific problem to the help desk.
I have tried several ways to put this together in FTB. It doesn't seem to come out very well. Online doesn't come out right either. I ended up with duplicates of Children A and B. I'll explain the relationships, and hopefully you guys can suggest a way to show these realtionships.
Joe marries Kate. They have 2 children, A and B. They Divorce.
Kate marries Tom. Tom adopts both children, A and B. They divorce.
Kate marries Tom again. They have a child together, C. They divorce.
What's the best way to show the multiple marriages, and the children and relationships from each.
