Firstly, regarding the screen saver, there is no option to install Family Tree Builder without it. You can turn it off in Family Tree Builder by going into Family Tree Builder, and into Options > Screen Saver. There you will have the option to turn it off.
Regarding the toolbar, can you please send me a screenshot of it installing even after you unclick the option?

I'm running Windows Vista and I can't get the software to run on my PC, since it stops in the middle of installation bringing this message: Error0 installating book report. Any idea if Vista is supported, if so, what can I do to proceed with installation?
Thanks! I'm now using my user, the other is my dad's.
Listen I'm still having trouble installing the program because the link you gave me is not working, it says page not found. I tryied installing it again and I confirm that I tried installing it in c:\myheritage but is still not working.
Let me know if there is an other way/link to download the software for me to try again.
Dear Noam - I have the same problem with a Vista machine but I can't see any difference between the two links you gave in this email chain.
I have deleted the "old" version but the computer still thinks it is installed. When I try to install again it always stops at the "error 0 installing book report" point. On another Vista machine the program installed perfectly.
Presumably I have a registry entry that is flagging-up that the program install was attempted but I have asked everyone and no-one seems to know why this machine in particular is failing to load the program properly.
how can I enter children from a married woman and a different father, so that the child appears under the married parents name but still shows the other father as the biological father....if you follow..
But "adopting" is not always appropriate and you don't give any other choices. My sister did not "adopt" her husbands children they just became her step children. Adoption means the names would have changed etc.
this does still not solve the problem, when I go to "attach parents" in step 3 I only get an option of attaching two parents that are listed under "marriages",which is not right, I just want to attach one male as the bio father to a married female not his wife
, human nature does not follow good moral paths always and an option of attaching any one person to another, married or not and then selecting them as partners, other, friends, divorced, or whatever,to specify the connection, in my tree the child was not formally adopted by the married parents but took their name and just became part of their family, and everyone accepted it, the bio father takes no furthur part in the story, but for the future Id like to show the bio father as having some thing to do with his birth.
I am a child from unmarried parents and tried to do as you just stated, though for some reason it lists me as my own step brother. Also when I am not listed as an adoptive son of my step parents it lists my two sets of half brothers as being step brothers. This doesnt make sense to me as they technically have no relation to each other.
I agree 100% with this. Especially in this day and age, families do not come in nice neat little packages. My sister and I, for example, are the producs of 2 seperate biological fathers but the same biological mother. It was my bio father, however, that raised us BOTH along with our bio mother. In other words, he adopted my sister. The only way that I am able to show this in my family tree is to say that both my father AND mother ADOPTED her -- when putting this information into the book or other features it is misleading because it appears to be saying that my sister is NOT a biological relative of our shared (bio) mother. In addition, when displaying my mother's decendant tree, it appears as though she has 3 children instead of 2 (and looks like I have 2 sisters instead of 1) because it displays my sister TWICE -- once with our mother's marriage to her first husband and once for her marriage to her second husband (my father, who adopted this child).
The same issue is occurring with my nephew, who's bio dad and adopted dad are different, and there are multiple other children from the union of HIS adopted father and bio mother (i.e. 1/2 siblings) (AND his full sister was never adopted by His adopted father) -- again it shows him on there twice so that it appears that my sister had 7 children instead of 6 -- it is showing as 2 from first husband and 5 completely seperate children from the second union --- it SHOULD show 2 from first, 1 of which is linked to second through paternal adoption, and 4 additional from second union. Yes, confusing but ACURATE!
there should be a way of "unlinking" two parents. By default the parents appear to be married. you can later enter a "divorce" event and their link becomes a dotted line. so basically we need something like that dotted divorce line, an "unmarried" option.
Was this new feature ever release?. When I type in a partner, it says partner, but if you go to FAMILY it lists a person with a partner as having had a marriage to that person and counts the relationship as a marriage which it was not. Also, in that same thread -- the FAMILY section, it lists divorce dates as marriage dates. Looks like the person is a bigamist.
We are now adding new features to the online Family Tree,
OK, it's nearly a year since the last posting here, and I'm still having the same issue. I just upgraded to premium package and was hoping to see a correction to this. The issue is as everyone described. I need to show children that are born to different parents that were not married. When I add the parent, the system wants to make the parent the spouse. In my example, it looks like the mother was married three times and this was not the case. Please help as this is a major issue in my ability to complete a time sensitive project.
Thanks for the response. I've included a snip of the issue. Just a quick recap of the various scenarios:
1. Children born to parents who were not married. System automatically notes them as married, even if I choose the "Partners" or "Other" option. See attachment of results that print from the All-in-One Report - Books/Charts.
2. Children born to parents who were not married, but one parent marries a different person. System will show the parent was married twice since both fathers were noted in the tree to reflect biological relationship of all children.
