I would be most pleased to have you, and any other FTB employees, as members of the group! I've communicated with Gilad Japhet on occasion as well, and although I decided not to "invite" him it was only because I know he's a busy man. But I would be VERY glad to have any and all of you there! If you don't mind identifying yourselves as employees, that would be great (just so people are clear), but I think it's a great idea!
I believe I may already be on the Beta Testers list...I have used beta versions before (v. 3), but I'd be very pleased to continue being a beta tester!
Very nice to hear from you! I hope you have a fantastic day!

I posted this in Family Pages but I think I should have posted it here--
I am trying to export my project from Family Tree Builder to a GEDCOM file, but I cannot get it to work. I click File and then Export Gedcom. I have tried clicking Next and Save As but the Save As screen does not work. I have tried putting a full path filename into the Filename box and I've tried creating new folders, but nothing works. The Save button doesn't work and the Cancel button doesn't work either. I have to x out of the Save window every time. I tried re-installing the .exe file, but it still doesn't work. Please help!!
I have scanned a number of documents and saved them as pdfs or jpegs in one folder. When I ask FTB to search that folder for photos to import, it only finds a small number of the files. I have gone to Tools/Options/Photos and increased the file size it will import, but this only makes it worse. Instead of finding 4 photos to import, it only finds 1 or 2!
It also fails to find any pdf file to import. I thought that you could import documents as Word or pdf and associate them with people in the tree.
After I entered a family (husband/wife, almost a dozen children, and dozens of grand-children), I realized I had already added them in the database before. Now I have the same family in my database twice.
All of the entries contain new information, and so what I want to do is not DELETE the second entries for each member of the family, but actually merge them into one.
Am can't be the first person to have this problem...is there some way to merge two people into just one, like using the merge feature from other FTB users, but within my own database?
I would like to install FTB on two computers and share the FTB data files with Windows 7 and Homegroup (wanting to have the files open at the same time is not necessary for me, by the way). What files or folders should I move to the Homegroup location? Thanks.
There is a way for you to transfer all your information from your one computer to another computer.
What you have to do is first save your family tree from the first computer onto removable media. The best way to back up your family tree is to use Family Tree Builder’s backup facility on File>Back up Project. It will save a single file, perfect for backup, that contains your family tree and all its photos and documents. You can save it to a usb flash key, or to a cd/dvd.
Such a backup can later be restored on family Tree Builder on a different computer, by going into Family Tree Builder on that computer and using File>Restore Project.
Please note that if you update your tree on one of the computers, you should update your tree on the other computer as well.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
I followed these directions but I have a problem. On my My Heritage web site each person is listed twice on the "people" list. How can I delete the duplicates. On family tree builder each person is still only listed once, so I can't see how I could do it there.
I looked at your account details and I see you have two family trees on your family site. They appear to be exactly the same.
This is what is causing duplicate names on the Family Tree > People page of your site.
In order to fix the problem, simply delete the older of the two trees. You can do this on the Family Tree > Manage Trees page. Make sure to note which tree is the older of the two on this page before deleting.
To delete a tree, click on MORE and then select delete.
I am generally finding FTB very useful, and until recently was able to add photos to my tree without any issues. However, this has recently stopped working. I noticed that I got a message about a software update recently, which may be the cause, though I can't remember if I managed to add any photos since then or not.
The symptoms are:
1) When adding a photo, I browse and select the photo, which previews just fine in the "Select photo files" window.
2) I click "Next"; the "Importing photos" window appears with the percentage bar showing 0%. However, instead of gradually moving to 100% (over the course of a second or so) as it used to do, the window just disappears as if the file had uploaded really quickly.
3) After I click "Finish", the photo appears in the list of "Recently added items". However, there is no thumbnail, and, if I try to view it, the Image Viewer comes up with a red bar saying "Failed to Load Image"
The images already loaded can be viewed just fine.
I go to add a photo. I select the photo. It agrees and asks what album. I tell it or I leave blank. Click for next screen. Both the import and cancel buttons do nothing. The only way out is to use the X at the upper right of the screen. HELP!!!
I've already sent you an email regarding this issue, so this post is more for other users that might read it in the future than for you....
We were able to resolve the issue by resizing the photo. The photo was larger than 3000 pixels. Resizing the photo to about half the original size allowed the photo to be imported into Family Tree Builder without a problem.
If you have photos that cause the following error message:
Cannot save photo because copy operation failed
import without a problem but are blank after import
