seems I can not make a all in one chart or book on my heratage I have 5.0 english and keep getting errors tryed on FTB but when I save loose all the info even the title of the chart, when I check the adopted parents box it does not show up on the chart so loose a line of family that is large
When you get a hot match and select the compare screen, in the right hand information pane the text can sometimes be shifted off the right side of the screen and no scroll bar is available. This happens when a fact with a long name is set up for either of the persons being compared such as 'Known Number Of Children' or 'Known Number of Marriages'.
Secondly issue: When creating a Fact Citation, the drop down box for 'Citation' is quite short compared to the actual field length (which is n * 248). So if you have a number of sources with similar text at the start (e.g. 'Birth Certificate of Firstname Lastname' it is hard to find the right one as you scroll down the list). Maybe a mouse-over balloon pop-up could be used to show more text as you move down the list and hit one that is wider than the drop down.
I had a third one but can't remember it at the moment :-)
Would it be possible to register for the Beta program for FamilyTreeBuilder 5 please?
Using FamilyTreeBuilder 188.8.131.526 when you create a citation and set the confidence value to "Unreliable" and save the person. When you re-select the person the citation confidence value has changed back to "(not specified)".
There is another problem when you export it to GEDCOM. All of the confidence values exported are one greater than they should be. The GEDCOM 5.5 standard requires a citation confidence (QUAY) value in the range 0-3. The values FTB is exporting are in the range 1-4 (although I have never seen a 1 as those values aren't being saved - see above comment). This causes a problem when these values are reported in a Book Report by "The Complete Genealogical Reporter" as the citation confidence reported is wrong.
Hi, when using maps on the program it is crashing. It has been happening before but I just stopped using it. but today I tried to update some places on the map.
When I change the name of a place by just editing the place name, it is OK and returns to editing.
When I go into the details of a person from maps to change something about the person ie post office swaffham, Norfolk, England to move the post office bit into description and then click OK it should return to the Map for more editing but it crashes and I have to close the program.
I have started to do a family tree. I am novice with FTB. I have collected many facts and started to input everything into the program. I have a question now because I have either done something wrong or I found a bug.
I have done a screenshot of a part of a tree from FTB and then the same tree from the web. As you can see from the web screenshot, the couple circled in red is shown twice there.
I populated my family tree on the web bsaed programme of Myheritage. I have since downloded the programme onto my laptop so I could use it when I do not have a internet connection, have I got to input all the data again, or can i download the data from my web based account into the computer based one, and secondley is there a way to syncronise the two if I do some work offline.
My old pc was about to crash so I copied everything on a backup hard drive. I now have a MAC is there a way to upload a file(s) online to retrieve my family tree I was working on? I understand the Family Tree builder doesn't work for MAC users yet.
I have quite a few children in my family tree that are a result of non marriage relationships. The relationship might have broken up since but if i try to them insert children of that past relationship without inserting their parent as a spouse they have to come in as a child of the new spouse, which they are not.
Add the previous partner and set the relationship marriage status to 'partner', 'friends', 'unknown' or 'other' as appropriate. Be aware that these are non-standard (GEDCOM 5.5) relationship types and importing your tree into other software or tree websites may not recognise the value and assume they are married.
Then link or add the child to this couple instead.
If you don't want to name, or don't know the name of the previous partner then you can leave both names as blank. How empty names are displayed can be configured in the options. Additionally you can set the person to private by editing the person details and click 'privatise this person' on the info tab.
