I have already sent an email to support re this topic, but thought it may be of interest to other users.
I have numerous family trees on the "go", and one of them has 2571 names in it. Today on loading it, FTB said there were duplicate entries which I OK'd to fix. However it appeared that EVERY entry was duplicated which gave a total of 5142 names. I only discovered this mass duplication when adding new entries, and the first of the new entries had an ID number of 5143. As I also keep a manual paper copy of each individual this is most annoying, as the template I use is created in Microsoft Excel. I don't want to have change the template from 2172 and so on (the first of the deleted duplicate entries) to 5143 and so on.
I would like to have those missing/deleted numbers back! Is this possible? Could an option to this problem be incorporated in the next fix/update of the program?
This problem may be in my other trees but I haven't checked as yet.

Ian: I have the same problem. I have now 4100 individuals in my data set, and if I try to use FTB version 4 it reports : "duplication of information was found, 1177 duplicate people." This happened when I first tried to use FTB version 4, so I removed it and went back to using version 3, which does not give me this problem. Even worse, if I run version 4 with my data, it doubles the number of individuals and makes all sorts of strange relationships...which are totally corrupt. When I tried to get support, the reply was to download the software and try again, so I did, last in Jan 2010. Got the identical problem. So I am only using version 3. I just tried reloading version 4 tonight, again got the same results. GED export works ok in GRAMPS on Linux, and Legacy on Windows.
At 12K miles apart, we are not both crazy: there is something rotten in version 4.
113 days is along time for support NOT to answer. I have a couple of work arounds, but still not ideal!
1. Do the fix, create gedcom file, import to another program (which I hardly ever use - Brothers Keeper) check that the ID #'s are correct then export as Gedcom, then import back to FTB. Not ideal as you have to give it a new name. But it works.
2. Do a backup before you exit the program. If you get duplicates again close and restore the backup.
This may get someone at My Heritage to wake up and check what is going on. It would be interesting to know if anyone else is having trouble.
I think my installation bombs out now because earlier I could not cancel the download during installation and I executed an "End Process" from Windows Task Manager. Possibly now the installer is in a corrupt situation. How can I clear it to re-install?
(I did an "End Process" because I realized the program was annoyingly installing in the root and I wanted to "fix" the install folder. This isn't a Windows 95 application is it? Why can't it go where it belongs?)
Also I'm already really becoming pessimistic that the software isn't going to be intrusive since the installation process has as a defaults a mechanism to change my home directory and to add a Explorer tool bar. Am I not installing spyware too am I?
Thanks. I already figured out a work-around. I ran a program called 'ccleaner' and then was able to install again. I gave up and decided to install in the C root directory even though I don't like the messiness of it.

I've just installed the update and now I can't open the software at all. Every time I try, the software tries to publish my tree to the website, says it can't find my family site and then terminates.
We're working on making allowances for the large number of name exceptions in different languages around the world.
And we actually did have a function in the past that looked for "de" "de la" "van" and other surname prefixes but because of the complexities of naming (some people include the "de" as part of the surname, some people don't) we decided to take the simple approach.
We will improve handling of surnames in the future.
Hi Jaiel! So, NOW must be prefix "de la" included in given or family name field? I hope, with surename, but person is sorted in alphabetic by "D". Right?
Is it possible to create a "All-in-one" chart with just names, birth/death dates but with smaller boxes for each person?
It seems regardless of what facts / details are selected to display, the box for each person is HUGE and mostly full emptiness (ie, a couple of lines at the top - name etc and then empty space for most of the box). It would be much better if the box size could either be altered - or automatically adjusted to surround the information / facts showing.
I'm hoping this is possible already and I have just missed the option...??
Although at this point in time there isn't an official way to make the boxes in the chart smaller, I suggest that you do the following:
You can choose to include less information in the boxes, as you said that you are already doing, and you can also choose to make the photo smaller in the box. In an online all in one chart you can do this by going into Content to Include > Photo Size. In Family Tree Builder, this is under Options > Personal Photo Size.
