I have exactl the same problem. Windows 7 with FTB V5 maps page is blank.
I do have a little bit of extra information. I'm very new to FTB and only downloaded the program for the first time yesterday so I have only ever had V5. When I had loaded about 4 people in my tree I clicked the map function and it worked perfectly showing the locations of each person. After I had about 10 people I tried the map function again but got the blank screen.
When trying to install FTB on a Windows 7 64bit machine I get the following error - "Installation cannot continue, download failed with error 112". It has already prompted me for the language and I selected "Enligh" and it already asked if it should do a complete and custom installation and I have tried both selections.
Anyone else having issue getting the software installed on Win7? I've seen plenty about crashes but it seems most people have at least been able to install the software.
First of all, thanks FTB is great program and since I download the ver2.0 I already work to complete my ancestors heritage.
Now, while connect to Internet, I am manually checking the new update and found ver4.0 is avalaible and I decide to update it and screen show estimate 24MB files to download. But my internet connection is very very slow and broken,so I cancell it.
Now I am in other comp which is have faster good connection. I am opening your DOWNLOAD page and download for ver4.0, but the family_tree_builder.exe file only about 543kb application file... It's confuse me because by automatic at least 24MB files is needed, but manually single file is less than 1MB ?
Can I just copy this 543kb file to my computer running with older version of FTB to maually get newer FTB version without connect to intermet. Or maybe you can advice how I can update it ? Thanks so much !
For the last couple weeks, even before I started beta testing v5, whenever I go to look at my photos; the program crashes. Everything works fine until the thumbnails are finished loading. Attached is a photo of the message window that comes up. I have 1282 photos in the tree; could that be the problem?
Thank you for writing to us. Can you please tell me what operating system you have? When do you get this error message? What are you doing exactly when you see it?Does it happen with every project in Family Tree Builder? You can test that by creating a new small project and see if you get the same error when doing the same things.
I've tried everything I know... reloading FTB, upgrading to Premium Plus, cleansing my computer, reloading Norton 360 - nothing helps. Please give this your utmost attention. Consider sending a hardcopy of FTB.
Thank you for writing to us.
Please close Family Tree Builder on your computer.
Then go to your Windows desktop, and click on the START orb
Type system in to the search box there.
Then Click on System to open it.
Click on Advanced System Settings.
Under Performance, Click on Settings.
Then Click on Data Prevention Execution.
Click on ADD
Then Browse till you find MyHeritage which is in the BIN file in you Program Files where you have FTB installed
Double Click on MyHeritage,
Click that file so that it appears in the box File Name box
Then Click open and it should appear in the Exception Box with a tick in the square alongside the name of the program, then APPLY and OK everything and you will find that FTB should work fine in Vista.
I observed the RAM performance (CRTL-ALT-DEL) and noted that when normal I was using about 1.3gb. As the problem developed, RAM usage increased by about 300 kb every four seconds or so. This would lead me to believe that the auto-save function is doing a 'save as' function. At one point, there was a sudden decrease in RAM usage by about 1.5 gb. When RAM uses reaches just over 3 gb (I have 6 gb installed) FTB crashes. Hope this helps.
Sorry Esther that fix doesn't work. FTB still crashing.
Sorry for the delay, but the Beta5 is an improvement so I spend more time researching and building. The program still crashes, though not as frequently. The auto-save helps and constant manual saves helps.
