I've seen the answer to this in the forum before, but now can't seem to find it. I have just added a person to FTB, but not sure how to conect him to ONE parent only. The mother had him in1907 and the father is unknown. She later married someone else in 1911. I already had this marriage listed before I found out about the 1907 birth. At the moment I have him connected to the 1911 marriage. This union did not produce any offspring. How do I have him just being connected to the mother.
Do I create a second spouse for the mother with spouse Unknown and then add the child to it?
2) "Attach" the child to the family of the mother and this husband. You can do this by double clicking the family and in the Children tab click the Attach child button
3) Select this child. You should an message saying that this person is already a child in another family and whether you want to remove him from that family (which you might want to do) or to keep him also in the other family as adopted (which you might also want to do).
Can you provide a link to the executable setup program for FTB5 as you did for FTB3 and 4? I only have dial-up service at home and need to be able to pick up the setup package from the library when I go to town. Thanks.
Hello - I love the format of the .pdf Book Reports that this software produces and the fact that with the click of the mouse you can generate individual Book Reports for any individual in the tree - does the New Version 5.0 FREE download still produce these same reports - are there any changes that would prevent me from producing these .pdf Book Reports for different people in my tree - if there are ANY DIFFERENCES or CHANGES can someone who's using it let me know BEFORE I install the new version - I want to be able to still produce these with the FREE version - thank you.
Initial view looks good - error checking and duplicate checking really useful, but no apparent change to handling of smart matches. From the suggestions and responses on the forum I was hoping this would be included. Really need to be able to hide or discard non matches and the many many duplicates that appear.
As you are noting, there are no major enhancements to Smart Matches in this release. This is true. This is indeed planned for the next version. In addition, our family sites will soon have a completely overhauled and exciting new features around management of Smart Matches so stay tuned.
I also see that this "problem" is still with us but, frankly, I've simply become used to several of the on-going bugs that arise in the software and albeit annoyances feel that it a small price to pay for software that is still being developed (although at times apparently slowly) because so many of the alternative programmes although claiming to be "updated" freqently only have cosmetic changes.
I have recently upgraded to v5 and everything seemed ok. I then messed around with some of the tools i.e de-dup and consitency checker and now all my photos have been removed from the "person details" boxes in the tree view.
Has anyone found this and a solution as I dont wan to have to go through all the images again and tag faces. If I try to vie wthe images with the image viewer it says they fail to load?
I am sorry that you are having problems with your tree.
Let's try the following:
Please go onto your family site, and to Family Tree > Manage Trees. Choose to export a Gedcom file of your tree, with wll photos. Save the file on your computer.
Then open up Family Tree Builder, and go to File > Import Gedcom, and import the Gedcom file that you saved on your computer. You will then be asked to restore the photos from your site. Choose yes. This should restore all of the photos.
I'm having the same problem and I am running the most current version, not only with "find and replace" but also with the map feature as well. I ran the program compatibility troubleshooter in Window 7 and it changed the software to run in Windows XP SP2, but the issue persists. Hope they correct offer aq solutuion soo because I like the software.
