Your development team corrected input of all the Croatian month names but one. It was a work around, they introduced new 4-letter short month names for June, July and October (i.e. June: Lipa instead of Lip, July: Srpa instead of just Srp and October: List instead of Lis). . It works fine, dates are correctly stored in the project, but it is not nice because now the short month name is not traditional Croatian short name (different than in MS standard) and dates are generally longer.
But the problem with April stil persists.. The long Croatian name for Aprils is 'Travanj' and short 'Tra'. But if I enter date with Tra word, the FTB thinks it is a plain texstual date and does not store it in the project as date but as a text.
If I anter the April's date with just numbers, or with "April", "Apr" or "Travanj" the FTB CONVERTS the digits for month or month name into word "BET" and treats it like a text. You cannot query by that date, you cannot sort records by the date etc.
Is there a chance that your development team reviews the bug?
Hi Nikola,
Thanks for contacting us on our forum. There is a bug for the problem you report. The developers have been notified.
We have received many requests to fix this issue and we are working to fix the problem. It is more likely that this fix will be included in the next version of our Family Tree Builder Program. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks for your patience and we will be sure to update everyone on this matter.
I have created my family tree in the Family Tree Builder (I think that's the name of the program that I downloaded...it's not open right at the moment). I uploaded the tree and there are several branches that need help. Of course, the people on those branches can email me the information that goes there, but it would be so much easier if they could add their own people. Is that possible?
I have the free version for now...will likely upgrade to Premium in a month or so.
Unfortunately, at this time is it not possible. Maybe in future version of FTB...
But, if you can, you may create second or more next "work - temporary" tree(s) online for every branch, and after remote friends builds main branch structure, you may import it to FTB via GEDCOM and then delete this online temp. tree.
Maybe you can answer a secondary question for me...
If I export the GEDCOM file from the online tree and import it into my FTB on my computer and then do some more detailed things, can I upload it back to the online tree and replace the one that's there? And if so, how would I go about it?
You can correct your tree in Family Tree Builder, and then choose to either publish it to your family site (this will create a tree that cannot be edited online), or you can export the tree as a Gedcom file, and then re-import it to your family site.
To do so, please go to Family tree > Manage Trees. There you can also see your other trees, and under 'more' you can remove any extra trees.
This appears as very sophisticated idea , but this I cannot answer. I do not know, if internal online structures are identical with offline, if not changes matrix numbering of person, if not corrupting pictures binding tagging etc. If online tree at all contains all the parameters and variables. (Btw in very near future will be online schema expanded with next attributes. If you can, wait few weeks with this harakiri...)
Aspects of this complicated solution must be answered direct from MyHeritage Support technicians. If they answers here, it will be ok. If not, create next new topic.
I've got a mom and daughter and no father (they were never married and not even in contact with him). Whenever I run a chart on this family, it shows a box that says "Unknown" with the mother and links the child to that box. How do I get rid of that box?
You can also click on the child in the builder app and right click on child and detach from parents then delete father then attach to parent (Only one parent there)
Only my personal experience: If you create in tree child first, and then use "add mother", mother creates without father. But if you use "create parents", then is created "blind" unknown father too.
If are no other bindings to this unknown father, for me was useable simply delete him.
The "Manage Spouses" feature has the option of sorting multiple spouses based on marriage date. That's great. But when I do a descendant report, the sorted spouses show in reversed order. In other words, the text in the report says "X married C then married B then married A". I assume this is a bug that will be fixed eventually, but if I'm doing something wrong, I'd like to know it.
Thanks, Noam. Sometime in the last two months, the program has sorted itself out, and the spouses in my gedcom file are now appearing in the right order, as I just found out when preparing the zed to send as an example to you. If this happens again, I'll save the file and send it.
When you import a Gedcom file into Family Tree Builder for the first time, you should be notified if there are duplicates, and asked if you would like to delete them.
If not, unfortunately, the only way to delete duplicates is to manually remove them.
What if you already have a MyHeritage tree, and import another GEDCOM file into it....will it create duplicates? Also, if there are duplicates, or people you already have in your list, will it re-connect the descendents/ancestors to the people who you already have in your tree?
