I'm editing the family tree using FTB and publishing it to the web. Here are some problems I encounter:
1. [FTB, WEB] title of the photo on the web does not match the title entered in FTB
- when I add a photo to the tree, the filename looks like: "PICT0001.jpg"
- I do some changes, tag the people, set the date and place and also set the new Title of the photo.
- I publish it to the web, but the name of the photo remains "PICT0001.jpg". Why?
2. [FTB, WEB] deleting the photo album from the web is not possible
- I found new feature "Albums" and created an album in the FTB with some photos from "All photos"
- I saved the project and published it to the web
- new album was shown with the photos
- then I decided to delete that album, so I deleted it in the FTB and published the tree again
- the album remains on the web and cannot be deleted (More actions offers only 3 items: "Select all, Download all, Share album"
3. [FTB, WEB] it looks the current storage usage on the web is not correct
- I had some photos in the tree - it all took cca 30kB on my disk in the Photos folder of the tree and similar info was shown on the web
- I have added some photos and 2 videos to the tree - it all takes 139 229 777 B on my disk in the Photos folder of the tree
- I published it - since I have only Basic account, videos were not published. I don't know, what size was shown on the web after this publishing
- I created an album (that one mentioned above in the point 2) and published it
- afterwards I checked the storage usage and was surprised that the usage reached cca 87MB - I thought it is doubled in the new album, so decided to delete the album
- after I deleted an album in FTB and published the tree, the album is still shown and the storage usage is still the same number as before and much higher than the size on my disk. What's the problem?
4. [FTB] Is it possible to mark and name the face on the photo if the person is not in the tree? In WEB it is possible, but I did not find something similar in FTB.
1. We only support photo titles in one language, and I see you are working with two languages in FTB. To solve the title issue go to the Language menu, and to advanced language options.
Make sure the main data language and secondary data languages are set correctly.
Go to the relevant photo, and change the title in both languages.
Now publish - is the problem solved?
if not, go back, change the secondary data language to English, and change the title again.
Let me know if this does not help.
2. To delete this album, go to the Photos and Videos page > Find page, click on the relevant album, then choose "Delete".
3. Delete the album in the way described above. There might be some "ghost" files online still - if you find you have reached your quota, without actually using it, let me know and I will add more space.
4. It is not possible to tag a person which is not in the tree in FTB, but you can use the People > Add unrelated person menu, to add a person to your project, without connecting him to your tree.
I'm getting server error (site not responding) every time I try to upload my family tree. I tried disableing firewall but it didn't help. Can this problem be because of non-latin characters in names? If so, what to do about it? Below is my upload log:

I just resolved the problem for myself... for me it was my proxy server, I'm not sure on a proper fix but for now I'll just disable it each time I want to publish.
Vážený pane Danieli, děkuji za Váš zájem o můj problém.Závada byla na mém počítači. Po opravě registru bylo opět vše v pořádku. S Vašími službami jsem velmi spokojen. Prosím o odpověď jestli mohu provozovat stránky Kohout Web Site a Kohout Web Site1 to jest rodokmen Kohoutovi Family a rodokmen Jarolimkovi Family na jedné emailové adrese a v neplacené verzi Basic Rodokmemy by měly každy do 250 osob..
Děkuji za odpověď a hodně úspěchů v myheritage Vám přeje Josef Kohout
I know others have had this same issue. I can't seem to find a solution - My wife built a tree using the software...thinking others could edit online - no one can how is this fixed?
Yea I agree - I found an answer. So I just uploaded what we had got rid of the inital 2 screw-ups and bought a premium plus package. My only wish now is that you could restrict people to what they could edit on the family tree. One can hope I guess.
We are actually working on making new privacy restrictions for family sites, so that you can specify what members can edit. We are also working on a fully synchronized version of Family Tree Builder with the family site. These are both works in progress, and will not be out for a while, but we do recognize the need for these features and are working on them.

Esther,
When we purchased our 5 year Premium Plus site, we were assured this new FTB would be out in a "couple of months"--that was 2 months ago, so when you say "not...for awhile"--are we talking yet this year? Or?
You have a lot of volume on your site and you have the makings of a decent software program in FTB so with a lot of customers and members, we hope that you will try to expedite these updates and new versions--it's been almost 3 years since an update to FTB was published (2008).
If this drags out past next year, we want to know how we can get a partial refund and change our subscription from a 5 year since we are not seeing the features we were promised and that were advertised when we purchased the 5 year subscription.
I realize they wanted us to subscribe so telling us a couple of months 2 months ago was probably just hype, but we did ask how we could get a refund if the promised changes were not implemented "soon" -- they said we can get a pro-rated refund if we request.
We don't want to have to do that, but we really need the synchronizable FTB and the enhanced Smart Matches as well as some other features that just do not work right on our site.
We also need better response from tech support. If you are going to compete with MyFamily.com (they just gobbled up Footnote.com), you will need phone support and better response.
Your Live Chat NEVER is "on" .
With that being said, we really hope you will get the most necessary updates out FAST and then follow up later with tweeks, etc.
Thanks and I will check with my 200 members and other members on my 6 sites to see what they think of getting a refund.
But, what about the Enhanced Smart Matching for Premium and Premium Plus subscribers?
What about restoring the sources and citations views for ALL events and details on the MyHeritage sites themselves (not just in FTB, which does us no good if there is no synchronization)?
The enhanced smart matching features and the citations and sources on the family site, are both new features that we are working on implementing in the future.
We are sorry that we cannot say exactly when they will be released.
We have been working on some other nex and exciting projects. Please take a look at our enhanced charts and new poster printing option on the family site.
And as you can see they have not answered your response from 3 years ago... Talk about driving people away!

I have had an insumountable trouble in using My Heritage on line even after the adjustments recomended on the help programe , I have had to resolve putting all the info in off line , even then when i put it on line to upload it shows out of memory, Just tired of it now and have been informed it will take months before it will be fixed.
I am now looking at a Ancestory.com to transfer to, if this is not fixed shortly.
We have a memory leak problem with Smart Research. We have already fixed this bug in the upcoming version of the program, which will be released soon.
In the meanwhile, you can try to use a workaround:
Please close FTB,
Find your main.cfg file, which is found in
Programfiles\Myheritage\Cfg\main.cfg
Unless you use Vista or Windows 7, in which case it will be here:
C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\MyHeritage\Cfg
Edit the file with note pad,
And edit this line:
"SmartResearch","MaxConcurrentRequests",I,"5"
change it from 5 to 1.
Save the file, and re-open FTB.
If that doesn't help, you can change the parameter to 0, which will disable Smart Research completely.
Hey. My name is John, and I have used family tree builder a whole lot on my old Dell with Windows, and I recently upgraded my computer to a Mac laptop, but when I am going to install Family Tree Builder, it says it is a Windows program. Is there a version for the Mac?
I just received a CD in the mail today in the northwest of Canada (all the way from Israel with a stamp date of 30 aug and got it yesterday) and I inserted in my MAC - nothing happens then I noticed Windows on the CD.
I 'll write on the envelope - "return to sender - request a CD that works on a MAC computer"
We are sorry but we do not currently have a version of Family Tree Builder that is available for Mac users.
If you are a Mac user and would like to build your family tree, we recommend doing this online on MyHeritage.com.
Our online tools do support the Mac, using the Firefox or Safari browsers. To get started, go to www.myheritage.com and build an online family tree from that page.

Thanks for your reply, Esther.
I've already build my tree online.
However, myheritage.com should have support for the many Mac users.
Let me know when you receive that CD back - just curious if it would take same amount of time to get here.
Really? I just payed NINETY-NINE dollars the other day for mac family-tree software called Reunion but i'd way rather have Family-Tree Builder from myheritage any day! they should really create one for mac if they haven't already
