Please note, that you can get duplicate smart matches, if the matched person appears on several different tree projects on the other, matched site.
In this case - on the top of your smart matching results list - I see that you have got several duplicate matches with a site, on which there are few duplicate trees with different names - this situation causes the system to recognize them as different projects and find a new match for each newly published new family tree project.
Additionally - each tree has duplicate people - which causes the duplicate matches from each tree for individuals on your family tree.
Therefore - I can advise to you to:
- either contact the other site manager, explain the situation, and maybe he could delete all the duplicate information.
- to ingnore all the new smart matches for that individual in your family tree, as the wrong matches come form other tree, by following the instructions below:
I think I'm just going to delete MY person that causes all the wrong matches to appear. Not even close in terms of names/dates etc. Too much hassle for me to keep clicking on IGNORE and REJECT thisperson/tree.
Please note, that in this case, id contacting the other site manager doesn't help - you don't have to delete this person from your family tree - but simply can use the "ignore smart matches" feature, in order to ignore all the duplicate matches.
You can do so by using the instruction in the FAQ post, I've suggested you in my last post:
I added a bunch of spaces in between letters and numbers in dates of the person in my tree. That solved the problem! - none of those trees are listed anymore in my matches!!!! I know what the correct name is, your computer cant figure it out to match it to an incorrect person!
New problem: I have confirmed matches and I am now getting the same ones matched over and over again (eg Gerlernter)
I imported over from another software and unfortunately it used the short names for the locations. As your program doesn't support short and long for names (there is a suggestion for you) I am having to update all the locations. However when I try and adjust a place that is attached to multiple files the programs crashes. It has happend about 5 or 6 times in the last 15 minutes and is getting frustrating.
I have become a bit of a stickler in regards to citing sources for the data I have collected, due to having re-created my genealogy file a few times in a certain other software which shall remain nameless. To further the issue I needed a software that would allow me to deal with same-sex marriage easily, which lead me to this software. However I am noticing a decided lack of correct sourcing ability in this software. As a reference I use "Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian" as a guide. My sources are comming out truncated and incomplete. My source citations are set as endnotes and the Short Format box is unticked so that I get the full citation, however I do not seem to be getting it all. I am curious if I am doing something wrong, or is there some catch I do not seem to be getting with your citations tabs. I am sourceing at the fact level rather than using the general citations tab (which I am trying to figure out why it is there in the first place).
Would you be able to take a screenshot of this for me? This will help me forward the problem to our development team for debugging. To take a screenshot, press the Print Screen key on your keyboard; it is the key labeled as “PrintScreen” or "PrtSc". This will copy an image of the MyHeritage screen to your clipboard. Once you have done this, click the Windows Start button in the bottom left corner and run MSPaint. It should be under All programs > Accessories > Paint. Once it's open, click Paste from the Edit menu, or simply press CTRL-V. Now you can save the screenshot as an image file and attach that image to an email and send it to me.
Please let me know if you encounter difficulty in taking the screenshot.
The single most important genealogical item seems to be that an individual is the child of a certain person. How can I enter a citation to document this?
When entering source citations, it appears that one is able only to link to a “fact” of a person. The contents of the “birth fact” are date, place and description – nothing about parents.A particular source may give evidence that birth occurred on a certain date or in a certain place.Another source may support a person being the child of a couple without any date or place information. So how can / should the parent – child evidence be recorded?
Did you try to use the Citations tab in the Edit > Edit details window for a person? You can enter citations here that will be connected to a particular person without the need to connect them to a specific fact.
If you go to Edit details of a person you will have a tab named Facts (I think it called so in english, I use the swedish version), Under the Facts tab you will find an event list where birth and death event is listed if you have entered that data. To those events you can add event citations where you can add more than one citation. You can also add new events such as education, profession, movement etc. The citation comes in two part: information about the source and the citation it self.
Is there a way to copy a list of facts from one spouse to the other without entering all of them all over again? Birth and death and the like would be different, but all the moves and immigrations would be the same, and I would like to be able to enter them only one for one spouse and then just copy them to the other.
I know this has been up before but when does something happen in this question.
I can now search för duplicates (that is a good thing)
But the when i have the list and wants to do something about it i have to remove one of them and then reconnect the reletives too the other. Ok so i tried this the first match had 26 reletives too connect so i gave up right there.
When will there be a solution too this problem???
Unfortunately, currently there is no option to connect all the relatives of the duplictaed person automatically. Please notice that if you dettach a person from his parents and than attach him again, all of his descendants are being transfered together with him and there is no need to attach them separately.
I entered some siblings in FTB when the info became available and instructed FTB to put them in the correct birth order. When uploaded to the website, this correct order is ignored and the original 2 siblings come up as first and second, even though per FTB instruction they should be 3rd and 5th. Why is the FTB order being ignored?
One day later: I found a work-around by just recording the birthdate as 'exact' and then filling in the 'fact'--'description' section 'estimated'. The birth order now appears properly in the on-line tree. But I still would like to know why the FTB re-arranged birth order is not transferred to the on-line tree when the birth dates are 'about' or 'calculated' or 'estimated' (yes, I tried them all!).
