Any idea when this issue will be addressed? Many people have this issue as I do. WIN8.1 Family Tree 2008, 2009 and 2010, tried everything I have found on the Net, including contacting Mcafee and Dell - my computer manufacturer and they had me do everything would allow any program through. This issue makes your software useless. If not resolved I will be returning product and letting everyone know that all the versions seem to not work on WIN 7 or 8 at all. PLEASE RESPOND TO EVERYONE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. Thanks.

The new update of Family Tree Builder should fix the problem.
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and please explain the issue you are experiencing more in detail, if the problem still exists after you installed the newest update of Family Tree Builder. Please also send us your registered email address so we can locate your account.
If this didn't fix the problem for you, I would need further information from you, which should not be communicated in the public forum, therefore please write an email to support and we will look into the issue more in detail.
Since you now have my tree. Look at the photo's folder. If you pull up Historical events album;
Soldiers in the Revolutionary War
You will see all the family members of the Revolutionary War. At this point I'd like to say that this post should go in the suggestions list, but it's here because you have my file and you can see what I am talking about without having to explain it again. In that events album you will also see other descriptors, like; Causes of death, Navigation Aides by Coat of arms, Immigration ect. & Etal. I'm certian most folks have not thought to break down their trees this way. In my case the tree is diverse and I need a way to get around.
And it works for me. However, Now from your programming side to make the site more attractive to families. Instead of the Events Tab which shows current events, timeline and timebook. How about the site manager gets to add to that tab events. King Phillips War, WWI, WWII whatever like documented immigration main tab, sub tabs, Mayflower, Mary & John, just like favorites work on a browser. Or one thats says War, with Sub tabs; King Phillips War, Queen Anns War, Battle of Hastings, Alows the Site Manager to provide content about the conflict, with links about the conflict and then assign family to the event.
What that would do is Bring Dead people back to life.
Think about it, they are dead and have records and a tombstone.
But when we site manages can put up a family historical tabs, create events, create sub events under that tab; Ie War and as described above conflicts over time WWI, WWII, assign ancestors to the event the ancestors then become not just records, papers and tombstones but part of our collective memory, our history. Yup my family was there they did that, my Great, Great Grandpa. It would encourage more participation. If you look at mine via the only way possible through the photo album people do not get it, or how it works. You need to do this more intuitively.
Another thing to do to encourage participation is default folders for pictures that the site manager can assign, and when they get there weekly update it shows the members which photo's or info is lacking as defined by the site manager from their personal profile or branch.
1) My Baby Picts.
2) My Mom & Dad
3) My Grand Parents.
4) My Graduation
5) My Wedding
6) My Kids
The weekly update can't just be about what one person did, finding out stuff out about old dead guys that nobody can relate too. You need to allow the site manage to add a message to that weekly update if they want. Mine said There are 41 new updates in 'Family Tree Web Site'.
View updates now
Have a great day!
That's fine if you want to figure it all out, but how about this; 200 year Old Family Mystry Solved! See this profile xxx blah, da, da, for the site manager to comment on just what them 41 new updates did to the tree.
BTW you are at 40%
You need to do this to get to 100%, pictures, dates, ect, etal.
That's it for now but if you really wanted to get folks to check out their history, we could have a We invite you to join us on December 18, 2013 for a free webinar - "Family History and the Holidays: How to get the family involved". The holidays are coming! Are you looking for ways to get your family more involved in your genealogy research?
When I first joined My Heritage.com a number of years ago, it had the 250 person limit which was fine with me. Earlier this year MyFamily.com solicited me with the false advertisement that if I add their 7.0 Family Tree Builder to my computer, I could exceed the 250 person for free whereas I can't on the regular MyFamily.com. It took five attempts and complaining to corporate to try to add the program onto my computer. When corporate finally got around to fixing their "bugs/flaws" in their system, I found every date I had listed had been changed on the Family Tree Builder and another tree from another company that MyFamily.com had NO BUSINESS accessing so that the children were born before the parents. Furthermore, I found that it took three weeks for corporate to "sync" my file.
Now, corporate has decided that they do not want to keep their promise concerning the "over 250 for free". I have had actually 254 people so far, but, I am presently being barraged, harassed, intimidated, and nagged by corporate that I have "251 people which is over the 250 limit and I have to upgrade". Excuse you! I don't have to upgrade NOTHING! You peddled a product and service stating I can have over 250 people (NO LIMIT) FOR FREE if I add the Family Tree Builder 7.0. and I am going to hold MyFamily.com to their word or I can file a fraud complaint with whatever government agency will listen to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, quit harassing me, threatening me with upgrade notices, and sync my file, fix the dates, and STOP BEING FRAUDULENT !!!!!!!!! I do NOT want to see another upgrade notice !!!!!!!!!
If you are a Basic user the limit is 250 on a WEB tree. So perhaps if you have more than that and have Sync activated the sync process warn that your tree has more than 250 persons in it. So to get rid of the messages you should deactivate the Sync since it is for no use for you as a Basic user of more than 250 persons in the tree. As a Basic user there are some limitation in the FTB tool. However if you once where a Premium user it would have opened up those functions until you uninstall and install it again then you will be back to Basic functions.
What you can do is to split your tree in smaller parts so they have less than 250 people in them. I think there is no limit in number of trees but I can be wrong.
Perhaps a representative of MyHeritage could confirm my info but this is what I have picked up on the forum.
You say MyFamily.com, don't you mean MyHeritage.com? No matter which version of Family Tree Builder (FTB) 1,2,3,4,5,6 or7 you use there is no limit. FTB is the database where all the info is stored and there is NO LIMIT to the number of people you can have in it, I should know as I have nearly 4000 in one family! There should not be any problems downloading and installing FTB V7 (OK, there are some cases where there have been problems, but nothing major). I think it is a bit "rich" you saying they are using false advertising or fraud. If my memory serves me correctly there is no mention of having OVER 250 for free. the only mention of 250 is that you can have UP TO 250 if you are using basic level. But you have to upgrade to Premium for up to 1500 (I stand to be corrected on that figure) or Premium Plus for no limit.
I think the regular users to the forum (Tom Gray help me here!) will vouch for that. Maybe Daniel D could explain it to you so you don't get so "uptight"!
Please note, that myfamily.com belongs to Ancestry.com, which is a different company than ours.
If you are a member of a basic site (a non-paying member) at MyHeritage.com, the limit of people that can be entered in the tree is 250 and the limit of storage space is 250 MB. This includes all family trees on the site, whether they were created online or in Family Tree Builder and published to the site afterward.
If you do not want to publish/sync your tree with the family site and only work offline with the Family Tree Builder Software of MyHeritage, you can have as many persons in your tree - in the software - as you wish. Please note, this applies only, if you use the software offline without syncing it to the family site. The moment you sync your tree to the site the limit of 250 persons applies.
If you have further questions, please write to the Support Team of MyHeritage and they will help you sort out the subscriptions and limits for the family site.
I have been using FTB for a few years and all was great. But recently, during one of the last 3 updates probably, the notes went all blank on the desktop computer running Vista Pro/Windows. The notes are still there on the website, but don't show up on desktop. Please advise how to get my notes back. Thank you. Here is a screenshot of the blank notes where pages of text used to be.
