I had three apparently valid smart matches with someone else's tree. I confirmed, but three days later the entire list of three and the info about the other tree vanished from my list of smart matches. What could have happened? Was it due to a rejection from the other side? Why don't I get an announcement that he rejected them? His tree had over 200,000 names and it interests me to make the connection. Is there any other way I can make contact with him? Ben Stern, Haifa
The smart matches are generated when you make a change in your family tree and publish them to your website The data will then be compared with approximately 24 million other family trees at MyHeritage . Due to the fact that this takes some time it will take a few days to collect the data. With large trees this may take a few days more.
The smart matching technology is very dynamic.
It happens that in this "intermediate period" webmasters make changes in their family trees and remove individual cards and even entire trees. The result is that you have received a message that you have a smart match, but that the data has been removed. The result is an empty smart match.
As a premium member you can contact the webmaster by sending him a message. When you view the smart matches you will see this option under the name of the webmaster , with a symbol of a blue envelope next to it.
Thank you, marrianne, But all info about the smart match vanished. I only have the name of the website and the name of the owner. Tell me how I can contact him. Even the fact that I confirmed the matches vanished from my activity history list. Just tell me how I can find someone else's tree and ask to join, or contact the owner.
His name is Marco Soria and website is Soria Web Site.
Is there a way of linking different family sites together? I have a site for each grandparent's side of the family, and those branches really don't need to be added to each site since they're really only important to a select few people on each branch. It would be nice to have a link to them though so I can see the detailed families without having to re-enter the information four times or take up space on a site that could have been used by relatives to that family branch. Is there a way of doing this NOT through smart match?
I also would love to have the ability to create links to different family trees. I am the manager of my own family tree and my mother-in-law manages a tree as well. It would be awesome if clicking on a member allowed you to see them in other trees that they are confirmed in.
Hi, I have been using 'family tree builder' to manage my family tree, but since i changed my computer to a mac, i cannot download the program anymore. The online version on MyHeritage page will not let me add or edit anything... How do i move on from here? is there any way to 'convert' to the online-only version instead?
By "Family tree summary tag" I mean the text "Family tree summary" surrounded by the angle marks < >. This is used at the Settings page of the web site to add a summary text to the welcome message of the home page. I refer to it as a "tag" because that's how HTML elements, which are also surrounded by angles, are referred to. I am sorry if I was unclear.
I was looking through the list of my site members of one of my family trees, and I see that for one women that recently got married and therefore her last name changed, I see now she has two site member accounts in the list, one that is related to her person in the tree, and one that is not. Is there a way to sort of clean up these extra records, and what is the proper way to update a person's last name and switching the e-mail address from one person to another person that is a active member of the site?
Note in switching e-mail addresses from one person to another, this one I see on one person who I am thinking I added to the husband (my cousin) first, and then realized it was actually his wife's e-mail address so I switched it. Now in looking in the site members I do see her name, but it looks like it is the husband's profile. For instance, the immediate family section only shows the husband's parents and siblings and not the wife's parent. How do I update this, so it does link to the correct person in the tree?
Actually I did figure out now how to mainly fix this. I figured out how to change the relationship to the member by using the "more" menu and then I just deleted the extra account.
However I still don't agree with that whenever you change a person's last name that they would be "reinvited" to the site and a new "site member" account created. What is the reason that this happen, and is there anything I can do so the person wouldn't get reinvited?
