As a non member of a tree you will not see full names on people/sites marked as private. For some unexplained reason some people becomes private without the knowledge of the site owner which is noted in an other thread.
Sorry, I presumed that by being logged on you also meant logged on and also a member of the tree. Did not read properly. If the user is not member of the tree, then in my mind it should not be any difference in appearence for a non member being logged on or not.
I have visited the site and even if I am logged on I see the site as a flash site and by that the persons are <Private>.
For me it is always the flash page I get when Im logged on. Even when browsing my own tree. Have never seen it as HTML5 and may depend on version of browser. I use Firefox version 18.0.2.
So the problem is if the site is shown as flash or HTML5.
Thank you very much - you hit the nail on the head. I've just had my profile changed to see the old flash version (even on my own site) - and now I can see the same as you can. The person appears as <Private> when in flash mode - but appears with full name when in html5 mode.
I hopeI can get the attention from the developers/support now
When people are members of a family site, and logged in under their invited email address, they will see the whole tree properly. If someone is a guest to the site - not logged into MyHeritage at all, or logged in under an email address that is not invited to the site, then they will see all living members of the tree marked as 'private'.
The family tree on the Fisher Web Site contains information about Phillippus Andries MINNAAR. My research tentatively points to him as my husband's great-great-grandfather. Your tree has more specific information about him than I've seen elsewhere. For instance, Voortrekkerstamouers 1835-1845 by J. C. Visagie, lists his ancestry as "ongeklassifiseer." I would like to find out the source of your information in the hopes that it will lead back to another generation.
You can view posts re my search for the MINNAAR family at my blog:
MyHeritage has proven frustrating in that I can't find how to ask for an invitation to become a member of your tree or where I can send you a private e-mail so that we might exchange more detailed information and e-mail addresses.
ok so im apparently a manager of a second site also which also has my families details on it (i found out cos it keeps coming up in smart matches). i must have started this second one while at university because the problem is that the email address i used was closed down nearly 4 years ago, i cant remember either the address or the password and even if i remembered the address i still wont be able to access the account in order to reset the password.
the account is http://www.myheritage.com/site-42806721/cummins and i just want it deleted as its surplus to requirements, i cant access it and thus cant get rid of that terrible profile photo... help???
More problems with the Java photo uploader. (And I have tried 3 browsers, all with the same result.)
If I select a photo...by clicking on it, and the border becomes highlighted...or CNTR-clicking or SHFT-clicking to select multiple photos, the webpage/uploader does NOT recognize that any files have benn selected, and says "please select at least one file to upload."
SOMETIMES when I choose "select all", that works, but most of the time even THAT option returns "please select at least one file to upload".
Basically I was looking for a good online familiy photo sharing site where guests could "tag" faces and leave comments about pictures. I came across MyHeritage.com, saw that it could do that (right?), and so much more (Geneolgy, etc).
OK...but the photo uploading has me confused.
1) If I use the Java uploader, I get an error message that some of my photos are too large...the error message says "5000x5000" is the limit (my scanned photos are just slightly larger than that...and no, I don't wanna go thru all my photos and manually reduce their size).
2) If I use the option to upload photos individually, I do NOT get that same error message. So is there a size limit or not?
3) If I use the uploader that links to other photo services, like in my case, Picassa Web Albums, only very small, LOW resolution version of my photos are imported...the pictures look very pixelated and blocky.
Is there a way to get around the 5000x5000 size limit using the Java uploader or the import-from-another-online-service uploader?
The only info in the help section about this talks of a 50 mb limit on VIDEOS...no mention is made of picture size limitations. The only way I know of it is the error message I get with the Java uploader.
Sure seems like the $10/month "unlimited" storage ought to be easier to use.
When entering information on selected individuals, I also added notes from the "note" tab. Why is it that when I preview my tree, not all of the notes are included? They are cut off in mid sentence. Is there a limit on how much or how many characters you can use in the notes section? Thank you.
On Jan 15th 2013, you erased my family-page "Heyner" on my request. But I had 2 familypages, the oldest one, and the one I was actively working with, originated from verwandt.de, but now it seems you have erased both my familypages, as I cannot log in any more: says that my E-mailadress doesn´t exist and the password is incorrect.
Please could you restore the page that I did not ask you to erase, I am afraid that I dón´t exactly remember the details of the designation of the page, but it contains my family name Heyner.
1. does the free program have an offline tree size, or just give more features. What is the Builder program tree limit?
2. I see a "free trial" tree is only tree 250. Apparently there is a charge to online increase to tree limit to 2500. And a second 2500 tree requires a new account? And is the enhanced program necessary also for the tree 2500? What if I want two online 2500 trees?
3. I have been dialogued for required charges for additional data access, I presume. Is this yet a third charge?
SUMMARY: Are all of the above charges independent? Please itemize them for me,or point me to your web page that specifically and clearly explains each charges. So far I am very confused.
One of the trees on my site, the McKinnon Tree has recently become totally jumbled and incoherent. Both FTB tree and Web Tree are the same as far as I can see. What has happened and what can be done to repair it.
I looked at the published version of your family tree and I wasn't able to see an apparent problem.
Can you help me investigate by letting me know when exactly the problem started and provide me with some names of people that are jumbled? Is it only the photos that are jumbled? Or also the relationships?
I have a copy of FTB on my desktop and have set up a second copy of FTB on my laptop, with the plan to do all my genealogy on the laptop as the desktop is getting old and slow. I transferred my trees from the desktop to the laptop and about 3 weeks ago noticed all these anomalies on the McKinnon site only on the laptop.
The Tree Consistency checker has picked them up showing 550 inconsistencies!
The offending tree shows Andrew Bryan Lindsay married to Ronald Johnathon Richard Read and shows his father as my son Luke Lindsay! There are many examples like this.
Can I just delete this tree and get a backup from you?
