When I log into MyHeritage and click on "My sites" in the top RH corner it takes me to a page that shows me on the left and another site, of which I am a member on the right.
Under my details it says that I only have one family tree. When I go back to my home page and click on "Family tree" I am only offered my original, main tree. However there is an item in "Family News" they says:
"published a new version of the Watt family tree from The Family Tree Builder"
and if I click on the word "Watt" I am taken there instead. What do I have to do to get both trees listed in the same place?
If you would like to see the tree on the site that you are a member of, then just click on that site under 'MySites' and go to the Family Tree of that site.
If you are on your own site, then you will have only one family tree even if you republish your tree from Family Tree Builder, as long as its the same project.
Each time that you publish a family tree to your site from Family Tree Builder, if you leave the name of the project the same, then it will simply replace the previously published version of the same project.
I've just found the answer to my question. If I want to see other trees I've uploaded, then I need to go to the "Family Tree" tab and my other trees are then shown in the drop down list "Family tree to display" in the top right of the display and select the one I want.
"Die Seite, die Sie besuchen möchten, wurde vom Webmaster als gesperrt angegeben"
In English: "The page you are trying to visit has been blocked as indicated by the webmaster" -
I AM THE WEBMASTER and I DIDN'T BLOCK ANYTHING nor did I indicate anything as being blocked!!!!
First of all to the developers of this.... (my education doesen't allow me to write what I'm thinking about this)
Please NEVER tell to my relatives in my name or function as webmaster of our family site that I have blocked anything of them. If you want to blame somebody please look into the mirror. There you'll find somebody who really deserves it.
This interesting (trying to keep myself calm) message I receive on top of the overview page when I try to send to somebody in our family e.g. birthday greetings in the area of
"Anstehende Ereignisse" , following the link:
"Senden Sie VORNAME einen Gruß " in English "Send greetings to FIRSTNAME"
Any usefull hints?
Now the obligatory phrase: You guys at MyDesastrousHeritage.com are doing such a good work - just please let me know one day for whom!
Regards,
Gunnar
P.S.:
Our family tree was moved from Verwandt.de to this thing without my or any other member of my families permission
Our family tree was moved from Verwandt.de to this thing without me or any other member of my family having been informed in advance with an adequate notice period.
Neither I nor any member of our family tree agreed with the transfer of our personnel date from Verwandt.de to this thing.
Several functions and/or services i paid for at Verwandt.de do not work here fully, some not even partially - I do not accept this.
I'm not at all interested in any kind of explanation for inability of any developer, just solutions.
Hey there, must have made an initial error somewhere. I've uploaded a family tree and I can view it perfectly. However, I sent the link to someone who is in the tree, but does not have an account on myHeritage, and he can see the tree structure, but everything is said to be private..
Is there a way I can make the entire site viewable by anyone??
Guests, i.e., the general public; guests are not allowed to add content and are usually limited too with respect to the content they are allowed to see on your family site.
If you are not logged on, and you are a guest to the site, each page on the Web site will say “Welcome, Guest” and many names in your family tree will show up as <Private>. This is actually a feature to protect your privacy, that’s why you must log on to have all the names displayed properly.
In order for your members to be able to see and edit your family tree properly, you have to invite them to be members of your family site. To do so, go to Home > Invite more family. If they are not on that list, just scroll down to the bottom of the page, and choose to invite them manually.
If you would like to allow someone to view your family tree in its entirety, you should invite that person to become a member of your family site.
Persons who are non-members will see first names of living people in the tree as "<private> last name". We do this to protect sensitive information about living people in the tree.
Hello and thanks for the comment. I think I see how it works now. I thought there was something wrong with the way I had set it up. I think I was confused because there is a setting on the information page that says you can hide the info. Having not done that, I was a bit confused.
I think its working fine and thanks for taking the time to comment.
You guys at the helpdesk, I pay for this and I didn't ask to be transferred from Verwandt.de to MyDesastrousHeritage.com nor was I asked if I want my familytree to be put here.
The FAQ is crap, nothing can be found there. The forum is the same. The whole MyDesastrousHeritage.com is in a kind of alpha- or beta-condition and you want money for that service.... did I type "service"?
So if you buy the company.. follow with the service standards as what we, coming from Verwandt.de, paid for and have an agreement about!!
Is it your attitude to hide behind a server error 500 so you don't have to answer serious questions of your clients? (Btw. clients, this are the people with the money you want to have so badly). And please don't blame yourself again with excusing for this error - keep your breath for fixing it!!
It's me who will be asked by the members of my family tree for what reason this does not work and that does not work - I'm really fed up with what is going on here!!
Best regards! (took me five minutes to type the two words)
Gunnar (please be welcome to call me TROLL for this)
I'm having two problems that are sort of recent that I was hoping the staff could help me with:
1. The main one is that I haven't been getting Notification emails (birthdays, anniversaries) anymore. The last one I got in my email came Feb 1st. I haven't changed anything since then. I have a pretty big tree so I usually get a Notification email every day. I haven't gotten one for a few days now. I signed in today to make sure my settings haven't changed and they haven't (I have it set so I get Notifications for all family, not just close family). What is the problem and can you fix it?
2. The second issue is the main picture for my family site. When I used to have a different picture it would come up on the entry page for my family site (where you put in your password). I changed the picture a few months ago and since then it doesn't come up anymore. However, it does appear once you sign in (in the top right corner). Why does in not show up at the entry page? Currently at the entry page it is that default image of the three stick-figure type people.
If you guys could answer these questions that would really help!
1. I took a look at your events, and saw that there aren't any events until the 12th of February. Please E-mail Support@MyHeritage.com if you won't get a notification for this event.
2. We have a bug with this feature. I hope it'll get solved soon, and I am sorry for the discomfort.
For start, i think that the old search (with all people) was mutch better.
I have a major problem with the new search (Family Tree - Tree - [Find a person]) as it works only with English name (second Language in the tree) and not with the Greeks that is the primary language.
In the People page everything seem's ok. If you see the site in English you find the names in English, if you see it in Greek you search and find people with the Greek names.
In reporting to the Support group that my tree was missing a complete branch, I was told something to the effect that they have to trim the branches, thus, the new "leaves" option. However, on looking thru the forum I find someone else who has reported this same problem and is being told that it is a bug and they are working on it and hope to have it fixed soon. Consequently, I am confused and indeed hoping that is is a "bug" and not the future look of the site. It does not make sense to me that all of a sudden I can't view my tree in the same manner...I have not added anyone to it in a long time and was able to view it with all branches available at once (at least 3 or 4 generations. I enjoy seeing both maternal and paternal sides when I am cruising around in the site...don't like being isolated to one side of family. Also really dislike opening up the Family Tree option and seeing one whole side of the screen blank...not aesthetically pleasing!!!! Also, don't like for the information (list) to open automatically...I like to be able to view tree full screen and only open info when I choose. Please tell me this isn't the future for the website...if so, it has ruined my enjoyment of it....
We did have some users that had difficulties seeing certain people in their trees after they added them. This is an issue that we fixed, and should no longer be a problem.
Can you please check your trees, and if there still is a problem, please tell me who exactly you cannot see in your tree, and I will investigate the issue further.
Hi Esther--There is nothing wrong with my tree either on FTB or published on-line. All 1467 persons are there. The problem is with the display. Only one branch is displayed and you have to click on a person with a leaf to get to another branch. In the List on the left only a portion of the 1467 people are searchable. At the bottom of the list it tells you how many of the 1467 are listed--about 400 or so. A few months ago the whole page used to be filled with people and all 1467 names were listed and searchable--I would like that fully functional again. I thought I was perhaps doing something wrong until I saw the same was happening in other trees on websites that are accessible to me. Thank you for your quick response.
We have changed the way that the family tree is displayed online, to make the trees easier to see and faster.
Although we no longer list all of the people that are currently shown in the your tree in a list on the left of the screen, you can search for anyone in your tree in the new search bar right above your tree. This will bring you to that person in your tree.
We are sorry that you cannot see the whole tree at once, but the tree is pruned, so that whatever branch you are looking at is clear and loads efficiently.
