Sorry please delete everything you see so there is nothing left. No matter how many things you see. I will reload from my computer when eveything that is on the site is gone. Sorry for being unclear.
I listed 3 sites, so I don't understand what you mean by "delete both".
Please be more specific, as I don't want to make mistakes with deletions.
Very impressed with the comprehensive nature of MyHeritage website and the Family Tree Builder.
Not quite understanding about Guests accessing custom pages...
Am I right in thinking a Guest is someone who has joined MyHeritage.com but is not a member of my family web site?
I have set up a couple of custom pages as a test, to see how they work. I want a blog that family members can read but guests can't.
In the Settings> Privacy> Guests tab, the privacy policy is set to Mixed. This page also lists Guest privileges. Only the Guestbook page is ticked, all the others, including my Custom Pages, are not ticked. So I would expect only members to be able to view my custom pages. And yet, when someone looks at these as a guest, they can see them. Which doesn't seem right. Or am I getting the wrong end of several sticks?
I see that my website was named by my heritage.com as Hill Web Site, I want to change it because the family trees I have uploaded have nothing to do with the name Hill which is my husband's name. Thanks.
Click on "General", and one of the first options will be title of the site, that you can edit as you like. While you're there, you may also want to modify the address of the site to one that is easy for you to remember, if you haven't done so already.
When you're done with the changes, click "Save" at the bottom of the page.
my 14 year old son created our tree, and promoted me to a manager. He as gotten some of the info wrong and i want to correct it. I am supposed to be able to see the 'edit' button next in people's bubbles (http://www.myheritage.com/help/2008/11/how-do-i-edit-someones-details-in-my-online-family-tree/en/ ) but i can not.
So, where did i go wrong, or am i not cleared to do things like that?
Your son used our family tree software, Family Tree Builder, to build his family tree. Family Tree Builder trees are not editable online.
You will need to open the software on your desktop (there is most likely a desktop icon named "MyHeritage Family Tree Builder" you can use to open the program) and continue working on the tree there.
Hi - I was stuck with this same problem and when I found the FAQ item on it, I read it and re-read it many times in disbelief. Is this really correct? Your software that you suggest be downloaded for ease of use immediately makes it so that I cannot collaborate with my distant relatives who are trying to help make our family tree much better? Instead they have to send all changes to me via email and I have to enter them myself? I certainly hope this isn't the case as it defeats the purpose badly.
What are any other ways to work around this issue and make a collaborative-oriented tree online?
And is there active work on an update for FTB and/or MyHeritage to allow this feature that it would seem many people would want and/or require? I've been very impressed by the site and have added a lot in the last week as I've gotten started but will need to re-ponder this possibly. And I'm really not wanting to do that - I'd rather be working on the history. :-)
If you created your tree in family Tree Builder, but would really like to share your family tree with your family on your family site, and enable your users to edit the tree and help you research your history, please see the following post (link) in our FAQ:
Thanks for the reply. After some fiddling yesterday, I did come to a similar conclusion and also tested the ability to export the online GEDCOM back down to my local computer in order to re-import it into Family Tree Builder. Can you comment on whether this will have other consequences? The purpose is to re-capture all of the online changes at 6 month intervals so that as the changes become minimal, I will likely re-publish using FTB and simply 'own' the database myself and manage pictures from the windows app.
the only consequences of regularly exporting or importing Gedcom files is that Gedcom files are all unique and never replace other files. This may cause some confusion, if certain files are more updated than others. This is why we suggest only working with as few files as necessary at a time.
Colorful Shaver Characters
Jim, I have a question. I've been going through the records I have and I am certain that my great great grandfather, John Shaver, married his niece, Sarah J. Shaver (his brother Samuel's daughter) as his 2nd wife. I cannot figure out how to show that. Do you know?

We do all of our editing OnLine and do not use FTB so the online tree remains editable to all Members and in sync with the information and picture we have contributed. I can not find a way to attach an online person to another online person in "Help or "Forums".
Also, In the Left Panel under Facts -> Comment, the feild is limited to 250 charaters. How can I publish a longer anecdote about a person and have it attached to their position in Our Tree?
We are actually in the middle of working on creating the attach/detach feature in the online tree so that users can show people that appear in their twice without having them listed twice as separate people.
This feature is currently only available in Family Tree Builder, but it should be ready for release within the next few months for the online tree.
Regarding the facts that get cut off at 250 characters, this is a bug that we are aware of, and in the meantime, we suggest that you start new facts whenever you have more than that to write in the fact.
I looked at my "Family news" section & saw another user tag some people. Some of the people weren't on my tree yet. When I looked at the tree I saw that these people haven't been added to the tree - seems that these people have only their profile page.
I wanted to associate them to a relevant place on my tree but there is no such option. I have only the following option under "actions" box for these users: Ancestors, Descendants, Relationship to me, Photos [1], Timeline.
That's the thing - these people aren't on Site Members page. Maybe that is because the users were only manually tagged without creating a user or having a user in the system already?
If so, I think there should be a feature adding new users to Site Members automatically, if & when tagging is done manually. Think about it
