Ah, sorry, I was referring to the MyHeritage look and the 3D theme - although, I must agree with you neither one of them is very exciting at the moment. ;)
I bet South Africa is an amazing place! It must be so rich with colors and life. I can just imagine that it is a very impressive country.
For starters, it will be really cool if the standard could be the general understanding that blue represents male and pink represents female - don't know how the other members feel about this???
The upcoming events in the calendar are events that are related to your family tree. You'll see birthdays, anniversaries, etc there.
National and Religious Events are listed in the calendar view only.
The other day I got a notification email for my brother's birthday - it saved me because I completely forgot about it. But the mail reminded me just in time.
My family members requested that the 'Today in history' be replaced by National & Religious events as this is more useful.
In the Administration of calendar settings one can switch the 'Today in history' off, but can not a similar option be put for the National & Religious events?
Email notifications sounds brilliant - I'll definitely switch it on. Does it work for National & Religious holidays too? What about other special days like Valentines, Mother's / Father's day? does the email notification go to only the webmaster or all the members of your site? guys need to be reminded of everything ;-)
The Immersive family tree only shows the 1st marriage (whether the person is divorced from the 1st or not), so if someone doesn't know that the person has/had several wives - they will be mislead. Only after going to the profile of the person can the other link be found. Can the immersive tree reflect 2 links from 1 person? example: 1 link to the right and 1 to the left - on the same view?
I am a project administrator for IT projects and understand the processes required when undertaking such projects. One of the things I enjoy is testing ;-) I'm glad that you don't mind my input.
Do you inform members by email about what improvements have been implemented and how a site is/will be effected?
I have more queries/comments re: cosmetic and technical, but I'll post them seperately.
Thanks for your responses, your service is really great :-)
After linking a member to a family tree person - the thumbnail appears but after saving the setting and when going to the members list - there is no picture of the person. How can I attach a family tree photo aswell to the member? thanks!
Can I ask you to differintiate for me between Family Pages and Family Tree Builder?
I assume this time we are talking about your Family Pages family website, correct?
You go to the Members section of your site, click on the member and choose "Associate with family tree". Yes?
We are aware the photo doesn't appear after associating a member. You see, association is a very complicated process and one that will change very soon. (We are almost ready to make some major improvements to the site). For the meantime we have left this issue unresolved.
I apologize for the inconvenience. You'll have to upload a photo separately for each member. Association works for connecting the photos in the family tree with the person, just not the personal photo.
Yes - the 'associate with family tree' works nicely. Happy iwth this :-)
I understand that yous are working on this - thank you.
I can upload my own photo but not the members. There isn't an option for me to do this. Does the member have to do this him/her self? As the webmaster I'd like to do this as I would like the ID photo in the tree be the same as that of the member. I don't mind doing it manually.
Is it possible to just update the tree without reuploading it? When I try to update it uploads the entire tree and takes an extremely long time no matter how small the updates are. Is it possible to edit the tree online for example add /edit dates or edit names?
Edit - Just noticed a bug. I posted this message a minute ago yet it says it was 4 hours ago.
Just to be sure we're on the same page, I've included a screenshot of the "Check for Updates" screen.
Can you tell me what version of Family Tree Builder you are running? If you go to the Help -> About Family Tree Builder menu, you will find version information listed there.
Yes that's what I'm doing. The version is 1.0.0.536 and it says it is fully up to date.
Edit - Trying again now and it's still not working. It's particularly annoying as I have a large number of photos and it's reuploading each one in turn.
Some information on the statistics page is incorrect. Example: the prson married the most times? An the on the front page the latest event is wrong: it brings up a birth of a baby (16 May 2007) and I know it is actually a wedding (29 June 2007).
ps: I'm a relatively new member and upgraded my account to Gold and I find it quite scary that I found so many problems and upset members. I have also sent a few queries direct to the support team and have not yet received a response???
Regarding the number of marriages this was a bug and has been fixed.
Regarding the most recent event on the front page, currently we are displaying the most recent event that regards individuals and not families (so birth and death events and not marriage events). I agree that this is not very intuitive so we will try to get this fix in with the next batch of fixes and updates that we post to the site.
I found anothet one...On statistics page re: Person divorced the most - the person is correct but the number of times divorced is not - it shows once but it is actually 4 times divorced.
Sorry - I guess I have a good family to help test the program :-D
When I try to change the root person to show a specific individual on the family tree on the page when I sign-in, it still shows me and not the root person. Why doesn't the tree on the page pick-up the home person as the root person?
