If you created your family tree in Family Tree Builder, then all changes should be made there and then republished to your family site.
If you would like to create a family tree that can be edited online, simply export a gedcom in FTB and then go to your family site and click Family Tree > Upload Gedcom.
This will create a new tree you will be able to edit online.
**Important note: Uploading a gedcom does not include photos. If you upload a gedcom, you'll have to re-enter any photos in the tree.
I just did the 'smart matching' update and republished. Now the photo on the site entry page is missing... In fact, trying to view it:

Now that the new updates at MyHeritage have taken effect, things have changed a little bit.
There are two ways to create your family tree online. One is to create a family tree in Family Tree Builder and then publish it to your family website. The other way is to create your family tree directly online.
If you have created a family tree in FTB and published it in the past, then you will have the option to download the tree - just as Sassafrass so rightly indicated.
If you created a family tree directly online, without using the Family Tree Builder program, then you will not be able to download it at this time.
This option is yet to be implemented on the site.
We are currently working on collaboration between online trees and FTB trees. It is a major issue here that will be available in the near future.
With the recent release of FTB 4.0 has the syncronization issue been addressed? In particular can I:
-make offline edits then upload them to the site.
-resolve any conflicts when uploading or downloading (ex: I'm presented with conflicts and am able to choose which to keep or can edit before commiting)
-have other online only members add to and edit the tree after I've uploaded changes
Is this feasible? If not is it on your roadmap? Thx -Mike
The main features of the new version 4.0 are the following:
MapsUsing our maps, you can explore your family's origins, gain a better knowledge of your family, and enjoy all the benefits below:
·Fix place names according to smart suggestions we provide and improve your data
·Map your entire family tree, or any portion of it, or just one individual
·Map birth places, places of residence, other particular facts, or all facts
· See all people, events and photos associated with any particular country or place
·See all places of importance in any person's life, and trace immigration patterns
·Find any place in any language on the map
Photo albumsOrganize your photos in albums for your convenience. When you publish your family tree to the web, the album structure is preserved in your family site.
This makes it much more convenient to manage very large photo collections. Inside albums, use drag & drop to change the order of photos. Also use drag & drop to copy or move photos between albums. You can even drag photos from Windows into Family Tree Builder in the new version.
Slide shows and screen saver
You can also view slide shows of any photo album that you create or for all photos. In addition, Family Tree Builder now comes with a Screen Saver that shows this slide show for any or all of these albums.
And there are many other smaller but nevertheless important improvements in version 4.0. For example, it can now restore a family tree you published to your family site, including its photos! So publishing your tree now fully means backing it up.
FTB 5.0 is planned to be released with synchronization technology. You will be able to edit the tree both from FTB and from your site, download changes made on your site to your FTB tree, accept/reject changes to the tree made by your site members and more.
If your online version is the most current, you could try downloading it off your website by going to Family Tree>Summary>Download, then opening it in Family Tree Builder. That seems to have worked for me before. I've found though that it's best to only edit from Family Tree Builder program, and then publish your updates every time because (as of right now) there's no way to synchronize both versions without copying over the other version . . . at least not that I know of.
I have a member that added a photo to her member profile. Her photo shos on the address book but when I refer to her profile her photo does not come-up. When I refer to her 'number of photos' the only photo that shows is her photo on the tree. What happened to the photo that she posted against her address book profile?
Can photo albums be linked to member profiles or persons on the family tree?
The family tree creates albums for a some persons on the family tree but not all. These albums are referred to as 'Photos of family members' on the thumbnail view only. If you click on the list view these albums disappear - does these albums exist or not? and why does only certain albums create - this feature is very 'risky'.
Re: Immersive family tree - The new appearance is quite nice but the family tree links are still not 'correct' - If you click on a person and they person has been divorced and is remarried...the tree brings up the divorced family and still doesn't show the other/next link (the latest marraige link)???
1. Profile photos are not counted when referring to number of photos - only photos from the family tree. If her photo doesn't show up there might be a problem. Could you send me a link to this member's profile?
2. Currently we don't have a way to associate a whole album with a member - except when the album is created after publishing a family tree. You can certainly associate individual photos with a person, and even add tags to an album.
3. Family Tree Albums - when you publish your tree, albums should be created for each person who has photos associated to her/him. If the albums do not appear, this might be a bug.
4. Divorce/second marriages in Immersive Tree - yes, we know about this and are working to fix it as we speak...
2) "except when the album is created after publishing a family tree" - how do I do this. The thumbnail view doesn't work well (see attachment). But the list view doesn't bring-up any of the 10 family tree albums (I have more than 10 family members that have pics)???
Hi, I would really like to see the website immersive family tree show an entire generation laterally at the same time, the way it is in Family Tree Builder, to include all cousins and aunts/uncles. Right now, the 3-D tree only shows a single person's children and ancestors.
Also, I'd like if you could include the wireframe effect as an option on the website.
I've published my project to the site. Since there is no friendly interface to choose btw. individuals (the automatic add spouse and descendants is problematic), everything is online. I want to delete living individuals. How can I do it?
I've had the issue in the past with my FTP becoming "disattached" from my Family Site. For instance, If I had 750 people in my tree and I synced it to the website, a couple weeks later, FTP would say I have not set up a website and when i would try to sync, I would get an error because its trying to upload all 750 people into the remaining 250 slots. So I would have to go in and delete the family tree and then reupload.
But with the new design, I cannot find the same functionality to delete family trees that used to be there.
Also, FTP really needs to come up with a better way of selecting people to update. If I don't want to pay for one of the premium sites, I need a better way of selecting which 1,000 people I want on the site. The only way now is individually. So I have to go in and select 1,000 individuals. Not going to happen.
Hi,On the top right hand corner of the section there is a link ' Edit this page' Click on the link. Here you can edit the message that shows up on the page. Change the text <Most popular last names in the family tree> to show the names you wish (or change the entire message altogether).Shalvia
Was trying to find out why I have copies of the same photos on the family page..took a look at the Photos folder for the Tree Builder and see its large in size 10 meg and there are many copies of the same photos in there. Is that needed?
The reason for the duplicate photos you see is that FTB creates thumbnails for each photo you include in your tree. These thumbnails facilitate easier, faster loading of your tree.
If you look at the size of these thumbnails, you will notice they are very small. Most should be around 15kb.
