The link you provide is for FTB. The question is about Family Site. Saying it twice does not make it any clearer. Reading the link twice does not answer the question.
As far as I can tell, you cannot merge the two automatically without loosing all of your pictures and documents. You would have to re-enter all of the information from one into the other. You can merge the gedcom files if you have FTB and then re-load then re-do the photos etc.
Why do some photos uploaded to the online album turn out black? I uploaded them from my local drive. They are jpgs of various sizes. I even uploded them one at a time. I tried uploading them a few times with the same result.
I have come across a relation in my tree, where the respective siblings of a married couple are also married.
For instance: Person A is married to B. C is the sister of A. D is the brother of B. C and D are also married. In my family tree. I've added the first marriage, and their respective siblings, but I haven't been able to figure out how to connect the two (C and D) in marriage. It seems to me that the only way to add a marriage connection is through the "add a partner"-button, which adds an entire new person.
How do I go about to achieve this mapping? Is it only possible in the downloadable software? Going back just a few generations, constellations like these are not entirely uncommon, so I hope there's a solution to building trees like this.
I understand very well your problem 'cause I've got the same thing in my family. I think you cannot do it on myHeritage, but you can do it very easily in Family Tree builder (get it free from my heritage).. So you 're working with GEDCOM files, After that, you send it again in myHeritage and your problem is solved! I know it's complicated..
Hi, any news on when this functionality will be available on the online Family Site?
I know that it is available with FTB, but one of the main reason I use the Family Site instead is the concept of community and that several members of our family can add new people and update the information. I would lose all that if I "go back" to FTB installed in a PC with just one administrator.
I had a family tree for my family, Edmons. I joined my daughters tree, Coon, and now I cannot view or see my Edmons tree. When I log in it says welcome to the Coon tree, and it says my daughter is the site administrator. What happened with my tree the Edmons one that I was the site administorator for and how do I get it back?
I even cleared cookies from my computer, and tried the button to view the different trees and only the Coon one is showing. I had alot of work put into my tree.
The arrows showing the relationship between two people is shifted one step when the relationship involves different mothers. It doesn't happen when the mother is the same. For example: the relationship between X and Y.
A is the father of X
B is the father of A
C is a son of B
D is a son of C
Y is the wife of D
ie, A and C have the same father B but different mothers. There is an extra arrow 3 with no annotation from C to B. Arrows to X from A and B are correct. Arrows to B are shifted one step so there is an arrow from nowhere to Y.
Note that the relationship statement at the bottom is correct. I hope that is clear.
When A and C have the same mother and father then A and C are shown as siblings of each other, ie B is not involved and the diagram is correct.
i wanted to download all the albums which are saved on my family web site. so i tried to download albums one by one.
the most important album is the "Family Tree Photos" which conatain the photos which are presented in the tree itself. this album contains 267 pictures. it is impossible to download such a big album, so created smaller copies for the pictures in this album of 60 pictures per each copy. i marked up about 60 pictures in the original album(267) and presses the button "copy selected items" which apears after i mark one picture or more. and i copied the 60 pictures to a new private album. than i could download the smaller album to my PC. one of the albums i created could not be downloaded, because of some error occured in the browser. so i tried other solution - from the smaller album i deleted 18 pictures out of the 60 pictures in it. un fortunatly the 18 pictures were delted both from the small album(60) and from the original album(267). and now i have (42) and (149) pictures in the albums - this is a majur Bug, and now i have 18 pictures less in the family tree. i don't know where from the pictures were deleted and it is a shame, because me(the manager) and other family members upload pictures to the site and suddenly few pictures are deleted.
i made this action on Saterday 17-01-2009 on 16:30 Jerusallem time. and i really hope you have some recycle bin in your site so the pictures can be restored, or maybee you have some other backup tool. please contact me through the site or by mail: email@example.com you do, and if there is a way to restore those 18 pictures.
anyway this bug should be fixed - deleting pictures from a copy album should not delete pictures from the original album.
