Married women names in the calender alert emails (and in other places in the site) show the husband's surname followed by the woman's maiden name in parenthesis. We realize that some cultures prefer a different display (e.g. just the surname or just the maiden name). The ability to allow users to select their preferred option is on our to-do list.
The workaround that was suggested by Tampiko and Tammy is only relevant to the Family Tree Builder (our desktop application), and not for the on-line tree. That's why you could not see it.
Looks like I made a mistake in my previous post. The ability to select the format for names of married women is already part of the site. You just need to select the appropriate option under the site setting area. See the image below for the exact location of this option
The same settings should apply to the site and to the calendar alerts email. If you don't see the same names in the email, it is a bug.
Please note that you are receiving calendar alerts emails from the sites you manage, as well as sites in which you are a member. The settings are per site, so it is possible that you see the husband's last name attached to the wife's name in emails that were originated from sites that you don't manage, and that the site's owner did not change the settings for them.
If this is not the case for you, please send me an email with a link to the email that contains the wrong format. The email's link can be found on the top of each calendar alerts email.

Whatever their married name is should be put under the surname. So, for instance, my sister kept her maiden name (mock). So I put Mock as her surname. If the surname is left blank and she is still married, it will show up as her husband's surname.
Thanks for the reply, although it does not solve the problem.
When I go into the edit person, it is only allowed to write a birthname and not a surname.
Whether I put my birth / married name under the birthname or up under the first name ( birthname is empty) my husband's surname will be, respectively before and after my name.
Where can I go in and edit the names of women with more choices?
I can see, that now the women’s surnames are right in the calendar alerts email, if they had changed there names when married. I had chosen the married name and the maiden name in brackets.
Just now I can’t see if it has been changed and how it works with the surnames, where the woman had kept her maiden name. Has it been changed?
I believe that I had to go into the edit person in the Online Tree on each woman, before it can be changed. I can write first name and maiden name, but I need a box, where I can write married name, just like in the Family Tree Builder.
Can it soon be fixed?
Had the boxes in the online tree been changed? Are information’s disappeared?
I remember that, just as I have chosen, both the married and maiden name of the woman had been in the front of each woman’s box in the Family Tree.
I have 265 women in my tree. I hope, that I don’t have to change them all again!!!!Could it be so, that the members can change there own names themselves, if it will be necessary?
Is this fixed yet? I get the men's surname on the women, whether they are married or not. And wether she has kept her own surname or not. It is very annoying, since almost 50% of the women keep their own surnames.
And BTW: Is it all possible to have a man and woman living together in the Family Site, not married, with her getting her mates surname? I have not succeded.
Thank you for reporting this. This was indeed a bug and the fix should be available very soon in the site. I hope to have it online in the next few days
I don't know if being in a different country you download a different version from me, or maybe yours is older. When I select to make a female, or edit a female by clicking on the edit button on the person and selecting Edit Details, there are three name slots: First Name, Maiden Name, Married Name. The married name only shows up under female, not male or "unknown." Under the Married Name I'll put whatever her actual last name is. So, for example. Sue Gary marries Joe Smith. Sue will be the first name, Gary will be the Maiden name, then Gary will be her married name, because she kept her last name after marriage.
If you're not getting the married name section under editing, I would suggest to contact myheritage.com and let them know. It might be an easy fix for them, a patch or something to correct the issue. Let me know how it goes.
well I am converting using the imtoo DVD ripper platinum, I have been working for about a week now and yet when I watch the video (mp4) on my video ipod or my blackberry 8830 the audio place about 1 second before the mouth actually moves, anyone else with this similar issue or anyone know how to fix it???
To have those members no longer recieve notifications from your site, please have them do the following:
Log into your account. Then you have to go onto that family site that you are a member of. To switch the site that you are presently visiting, you can click on My Sites on the top right of your screen.
Then you can go into Settings > My preferences.
There is an option there to send event reminders. Just unclick it, and this should work. There is also an option at the top of the page to no longer receive newsletters for that site.
Please note that these preferences are only for that one particular site that you set them for. If you are the member of other sites, even one with the same name, you could receive more notifications.
I have two versions of my family tree published to my site. One is more up to date than the other. If I delete the out of date tree, what happens to the site members that were previously associated with that tree? Are they also associated with the newer version or will I have to create new associations?
Thanks. I discovered that a day ago by trial and error.
The members stay members of the site, but loose their association with the family tree when the tree that they were originally associated with is deleted. I then had to re-associate each member with the new tree.
