I moved your post into the Family Pages board due to the fact that you work on your tree with the online tree editor rather than Family Tree Builder.
The online family tree editor is kind of limited in it's handling of relationships which are more sophisticated than your normal nuclear family.
We are working on it though.
We are going to release a new version of the online family tree editor very soon which will be able to handle adoptions and step relationships.
In the meantime I recommend adding a fact for each person in the tree to note the relationship.
Alternatively our Family Tree Builder software does allow you to create step relationships using the Attach feature. Here's an FAQ on that topic: http://www.myheritage.com/help/2008/10/how-do-i-add-adopted-or-step-children-in-family-tree-builder/en/
I have the lastest desktop version and I am still unable to do this effectively. My younger (Step-brother) has a different father, but we have the same mother. And even though I did the attach son thingy to my Mum, it is still shows that my dad is his dad. Isnt there any way to fix this?
In order to add the step brother and sisters to your family tree, you have to use www.familyecho.com and your base family tree and then upload to my heritage as GEDCOM file from www.familyecho.com. I hope this helps..........Shirelle
last time I logged here, I found that system mixed up some people. It set myself as my UNCLE with aunt as my wife. I try to delete this one and add again with correct name, but Iam still at wrong position and with wrong name. How can I set mysef as another (default) person?
I'm quiet content with FTB. One problem, however, does annoy me. In FTB I've set the display for the surnames of married women to: "Married name (Maiden name)". In FTB this is diyplayed correctly. When I publish my family tree, all married women show up with their maiden name.
I've tried to change this by setting the option manually on the website ( Settings -> Genealogy -> Formats), but whatever option I choose, there is no effect.
My profile information pops-up when someone mouse-over my name in Welcome page. Is it possible for me to do the same for some names I mention in my welcome message ? The insert link option seems not relevant.
This "variables" listed above, are somehow provided by "you, i.e. myheritage". I mean, when I type "Contact webmaster link" (between <>) into the Welcome message, it shows up as a "here", giving link to webmaster's profile, or when I type "Family tree summary" (between <>), it ends up with "last update time, e.t.c " information.
I wonder if there is a list of this kind of variables provided by "you", in order to create a better Welcome message :)
I have a problem when editing online data (for example facts) and entering polish letters in an edit box. For example pressing "ALT s", which is the way to get letter "ś" displays in the edit box "Ĺ›". After saving and viewing the fact it still shows "Ĺ›". The same for other polish letters. Data that has been imported from GEDCOM file shows correct diacrictics.
Thank you for the messaege. We are aware of this problem, and we fixed it in HTML 5 tree. Until today you had Flash tree - I changed your tree for HTML 5 tree - and you should not experience this problem anymore. The HTML 5 tree will be launch soon for all MyHeritage users. Kindly let me know if you need more assistance.
When I publish from Family Tree Builder to my family website - a number of the 'Facts' are not displayed in full - they are chopped off. Is this a limitation of the website? Is the only way to avoid this by separating 1 fact into several facts?
