My partner's box shows he has a former last name which was his birth name. I did this by clicking on EDIT, go to Parents, click ADD parents. This will then also have a box to tick to show which parents you want on the persons main page.
Once this is done you will find the names of both parents will be present in the EDIT section of the person. You will then also have to TICK a box to show which set of parents you want displayed, you will also have to mark them either apopted or natural.
I then clicked the natural parents and from there added children. Click attach exisiting child this will bring up a box showing pretty much everyone in your tree, add the person from there, or add as normal if they are not.
After doing this I now find my partner shows adopted parents him . Then when I bring up his birth name, the page shows his birth parents names his, but his adopted name shows because that is the box ticked.
How do I change the starting point in a family tree? Currently it is my father, but the tree contains family on my mother's side. I can open her branch, but I would like it to open automatically when I open the tree. Is there a way to specify this on the web site settings?
To change the main person in a tree go into your family site, and from there, click on Settings > Home Page and at the bottom of the page you will have the option of changing the root individual of the family tree.
I am the admin for my site. I recently invited many family members (via email addresses) to site. Now, I am seeing names in 'membership' list I don't have in my data. Also, some of my members have added data to tree (email addresses, dates, people) but I manage my data in my genealogy program on my PC (I frequently update / replace the TREE for my site from my research). I also mistyped an email address for one of my invitees, when I then 'uninvited' to reinvite, I still could not reenter email address.
Is there a reporting section for ADMIN to identify (1) who has joined by other than ADMIN invite; (2) who of invitiees has updated data on tree and what; (3) Can I edit email address for invitation and then resend invitations; (4) etc.?
I have Family Tree Builder installed on PC too. I am updating my data in the program on PC. My site members are adding / updating online. How can I reconcile the TREE online and data in my Family Tree Builder?
My name is Gary Wayne Vanderbur and I am the Webmaster olf the Vanderbur Family Genealogy Website here on MyHeritage. I have been doing research into the Vanderbur family name for a number of years now and am always eager and glad to expand the number of Vanderburs I know and am related to (which is anyone with the Vanderbur name).
There are a number of Web sites here at MyHeritage that are private and I cannot figure out how to send the Webmaster an e-mail. Consequently, I have opened this thread in the hopes of having either a Webmaster of the site or a member read it and contact me.
The names of the family Web sites I'm interested in are shown below:
Ellinghame Web Site
McFall Web Site (I have information on Thomas and Rebecca's lineage)
Jones Web Site (which lists Vanderburs in it)
Crivellari Web Site
Labbee Web Site
Spurgeon Web Site
Hilton Web Site
Holley Web Site
Parkison Web Site (I have information on Elijah and Niettie's lineage)
I have quite a bit of Vanderbur family lineage that I am more than willing to share with each of the Webmasters / members of the above Web sites. All I ask, in turn, is that we get to know each other, our common and removed Vanderburs and figure out how we are all related.
Thanks, in advance, and I do look forward to your replies.
Hi, I'm really impressed with the feature to detect and tag faces in my pics, and have loaded in a substantial amount of my flickr pics to do just that.
However I got carried away and kept tagging people that I hadn't added to my just-started family tree yet. Now that I've added them to the tree, I can't seem to attach the profile on the tree with the profile that has their names on it. I also can't seem to clear all my current people tags and start again... so I'm stuck with a load of tagged people that I can't attach to my actual tree. I've also had difficulty exporting these tags back to flickr, leaving the feature effectively useless.
Any ideas?
p.s. it would also be nice to be able to, after I've tagged all my pics with people, go through and delete all the albums and pics that arn't linked to my tree (no sense in them cluttering up the place)
How can I add hyperlinked text or image to home page greeting text?
As admin, I am modifying the greeting text on family page. I want to add clickable link to another location (facebook), but when I try to insert HTML code (with HTTP address, image, text) all I get on preview and/or final home page is HTML code showing, not a 'link'.
I tried adding this... (I've removed my facebook name...)
The July 1, 2009 Calendar alerts email had 5 incorrect birthdates. All 5 were one day early. Two other birthdays and a wedding anniversary were correct. On the Home Page, the Family News had same errors. However, the Upcoming Events column on the Home Page had the correct birthdays. Re-checked my family tree and all birthdays are correct. What is the problem?
I have my family tree almost done and I want to download it to a dsk but I don't know how to do it. Can someone please let me know so I don't have to kep typing inhe same information over and over again.
view your family tree, at the top of the view click options and then export. That way you can save a GEDCOM file that other family tree programs should be able to import.
I would like to be able to edit the lines on my welcome page, which display the family tree summary. Is this possible?
I was able to edit the other lines of the welcome message, and since I wrote them in Icelandic, it is a little bit silly that the next paragraph is in English
