We have not changed the search function on the online family tree. You can search for ANYONE in the online tree by starting to type their name in the search on the top left of the tree. Any names with the string that you are entering will start to show up in a list.
Please note that we did prune the tree shown online before as well. That is not something that has been changed.
Okay, I am just a stupid old lady and I am probably missing something. I went to the Family Tree page classic view and happened to alight on*Guillaume de Male dit Malinez*. I typed in my own name (Jany Ingrid Muench) in the search function on the List section, both with and without asterisks, clicked 'find' and nothing at all happened! (I use the asterisks to alert visitors that the person has a Note in the Notes and Sources section, which can be reached through 'People'. You promised a direct link to Notes and Sources from the Family Tree page two years ago!). What am I doing wrong?
I'm mailing with your support team from 6.1.2010 and I'm glad that your team, had listen my issues about special czech letters in searching in Genealogy center.
[Ticket#2010010510000602] Czech letters in search [Czech] [P11]
Now can Czech a Slovak users use their native language to search letters ĚŠČŘŽŇŤ for imagination, NOT :))
Still it didn't find me or anyone else who is starting with these letters. For example I and half of my family not exist :((((
I try just now to search my name without diacritic: stanislav rabek and ..... I'm not. With diacritic ... I'm not.
So it is nice like Esther from your theme wrote me in email:
I have sent your request on to one of our senior programmers, who is working on fixing this issue.
So this is not FIXING ISSUE, this is tottaly ignoring of 1/4 names of all czech Family trees!
Thank you for writing to us, and I apologize for the delay.
We fixed the bug with the accents, and you can now find all names with/without accents in the Genealogy center.
However, we do still have restrictions in place to not show any living individuals in the Person search in the genealogy center. This is why you cannot find those people from your tree, as they are living.
thx for write to me, but in Genealogical center IT IS NOT STILL WORKING.
My grand..grandfather Josef Řabek(two times, he could be in the search list, he and his father of the same) is not visible in the search list, on any page. He is dead probably about 100 years.
I have investigated this issue further, and it appears that this is indeed a bug, and names that are stored with accents cannot yet be searched for in the Genealogy Center.
We will do our best to work on a solution to this for the near future.
So first contact with your team, about not working search in Czech language was 6.1.2010. Now we have 19.3. and czech search is still not working.
What we have to do, we means czech and slovak users. I'm starting be really angry, cause, since I both your premium account, I not able to use it. I'm paying for something that doesnt work properly. 1/10 our my money is gone, and I'm still not able to find anyone with my name ....
So it will be another month or what? Or should I write some email, to managment, about it, I don't know....
I brought this bug to the attention of our development team once again, and I hope that it we will be able to take care of it as soon as possible. Each bug is prioritized according to different parameters, and this determines the order in which the bugs are taken care of. Other than that, we also devote most of our time to developing new features.
