The 'Classic' view is a very old format that we stopped developing a few years ago. That's why it is missing very important and useful features, and many fixes that we made, such as maximizing the tree.
The 'Modern' view is our new and supported online tree editor. I strongly suggest that you switch to work in this view.
If you choose to stay with the 'Classic' view you should keep in mind that there are some features and fixes that will not be included.
Thanks for your quick reply. Somehow, I think of the Classic View as The Mordern View. It is much easier to view the tree especially when the family is large. In the Mordern View, I have to scroll a long way left or right to view even my siblings. I do hope you keep the "Classic" View as an option.
I'm the same way. The "modern" view is what I think of as a traditional family tree. I would be more likely to call that classic than modern. The one they call "classic" is much different from anything I have ever encountered before.
I just tried to view my family tree on a Motorola Xoom which has Android 3.0 currently. It opened with the Mordern view by default, but moving the screen was extremely slow and practically unuseable. It doesn't allow me to go to the bottom of the screen so I can select the Classic view. I don't know whether this is due to the version of Flash I have (10.2) or the OS. I am still wating for the 3.1 upgrade.
A workaround to get to the Modern view is to append ?treeMode=immersive to the url. This gives a more useable view although moving the screen up is jaggy and doesn't work most of the time (the bottom row is half hidden). Options->Max doesn't work by the way, even on my Windows 7 notebook running Chrome.
If anybody has Android 3.1, can you confirm that this issue is solved.
I have two trees, one quite large (88000) and one under 5000 that holds "only" my direct ancestors ...
It is impossible to use the same image in both trees, if I tag myself in one tree it dissapear from me in the other tree and vice versa.
I have even made a different album and copied images over there and renamed the image in the other album, but no matter what I do, I can only show the same face in one album ...
Is this by design that you think that people can't appear in different trees ??
Would love to hear a workaround besides creating two different copies locally and uploading with different names and put them in different albums with different names, will I then be able to show the same faces in both trees?
Here is what you should be able to do. Go into the photo, and tag the first person in the first tree. Then click on the 'add another person' button that you see on the left of the photo. Add the name of the person from the second tree. In this way, the people from both trees can be tagged on the same photo.
I see that on your site called 'delete', you still have the following tree on it:
GED tree with 88211 people
Title: TERTNES, ID: 7 Languages: DF
Last updated: May 30 2011
I would suggest not deleting the whole family site, and it is your paid and upgraded site. If you would like to start again, then I suggest that we delete that last tree on the site, and you can then upload a brand new tree.
My site just isn't working right... gedcom export I waited for weeks and backup also, it never worked.
that is why I agreed to delete my entire site and transfer my subscriptions to the new site I made a day ago and still waiting for you to do this. new site is tertnes-familien.myheritage.com but I can not start frest and upload my gedcom file there and start fresh...
I have already have to file a "please delete my site" ticket yesterday and I hope it doesn't take too long, as I am eager to get my site up and running (in a working order) ;)
How long should I wait before I can colnclude that the backup is not working?
And how long should I wait before I can conclude that export to gedcom is not working?
And how long should I wait before I can see what relationship I have with persons? like this person is your direct line 12 generations, etc etc? I don'y get to see it on people unless they are very close...
That is why I am asking if it is better for me to delete the entire site and start fresh, but I am afraid I will lose my premiumplus membership with payed backup if I do so?
This is how my backup looks like, never run even once...
We have had sokme problems in the past with the Export Gedcom and Backup feature for very large trees. I think that this may be the problem on your site. If you find that you wait for over an hour, and your file does not arrive, then please let me know.
Also, regarding the relationships, let me explain why you can no longer see certain relationships in your tree:
for trees with less than or equal to 5000 people, you can see all relationships.
for trees with over 5000 people and less than 20,000 individuals it is limited:
for direct ancestors/descendants you can see relationships of up to 20 degrees
for non-direct relatives, you can only see the relationships for people that are 2 steps away.
We do apologize for the inconvenience, but this is so that your tree loads quickly, and does not get stuck.
I put in another post regarding the exports and backups... I waited for weeks... nothing, that and other problems is why I need to delete the entire site with the tree and start fresh on another... (and transfer my subscriptions to the new site)
ok, so even though I am unchecking to prevent guests from seeing all the image tagging etc. They will still see it?
Also, I am desperate to receive answers to all my problems to know someone is looking into them. Or should I just file a new case on them? (purchased backup not working, export gedcom not working, family books still processing for many days, etc .. some thing is stuck so my database is not ready in some way.. ?)
