When a member of MyHeritage cancels his or her account all contents of the account are deleted including any uploaded photos. That's why, when you re-joined, your previous photos were not there any more. Currently we are not saving photos uploaded to the face recognition demo except for temporary storage for 48 hours, in case users forward a link to their friends. As a result there is no photo album folder to make private. If you don't see your photos in your member profile, they were not saved so you need not be concerned about the privacy of those photos. Note, that if you save a collage, it will get saved and you will be able to access it from your member profile.
I ran into that problem as well...even after uploading 10 photos...all good quality, straight on shots. Just before giving up on it, I had an idea. I changed my hair slightly, took a picture of myself...and it worked.. You see, I normally let my bangs fall over one eye, so I guess that confused the system, since it couldn't find any one-eyed celebrities...lol.
Actually, there's no need to upload the same photo more than once. If at first it tells you that no faces were detected, it means your photo is not suitable for face recognition and you should best upload other photos, instead of trying to upload the same photo again and again. For best results, upload photos were the face or faces are large, frontal and straight. Face recognition doesn't work well on faces that feature a strong pose, angle or expression, or are small or not in focus. So mug shots work best
Please try with some other photos and let us know if you are still unsuccessful.
Could an admin for the site PLEASE respond to this thread.
A number of people are getting the pop message "err" when trying the face recognition program. Myself included. This thread has been open for 4 days now without response. Could we please have a response or some "recognition" that you are at least aware of the problem?
I've attached a screenshot of the error.
Pop-up blockers disabled, flash player installed. Nothing wrong with the photo as I've even tried it with photo's that my friends have already used and received a results from.
We apologize for this problem. It was related to the latest version of Flash (v9) not working correctly for some users under some specific conditions. We have fixed this and you are welcome to visit the site and try again.
I've tried to run the face recognition program but, it does not recognize that I have the latest Flash Player installed on my computer. I have rebooted several times and DID successfully install Flash Player 9 but, cannot get beyond the webpage that says I need to get the latest FP. Anyone know of a solution? I tried the Flash Player Uninstall thing off of Macromedia.com but, I suspect it only uninstalls the latest version of FP, and not the older version I have on my computer.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Gilad - Thanks for referring people to the BrowserHawk site to check their settings. One challenge, however, is that end users will come to the BrowserHawk web site, get confused, and wind up downloading BrowserHawk (as some of your members have done recently)...
This way you can put a browser troubleshooting and self-help page for your users directly on your web site. They can also email their test results to you straight from the tool. Its inexpensive too - just $0.02 - $0.49 (depeding on volume) when a user performs a test, with no minimum (if 10 people a month use it its only $4.90, etc).
Also since you mentioned your Flash detect script may have problems - you can use our Flash detection in your site too.
Please have a look at www.cyscape.com/products/bhtg/bhtg_ret.aspx .
You have two ways of uploading more than one photo. The best way is to click a link labeled 'Try another photo' that is displayed in the top right corner of the face recognition results page (see attached screenshot). Another method is simply to navigate to the photo upload page and load another photo from there. The photo upload page is found here.
