I am tired of trying to contact MyHeritage through all different forms e.g. email, Facebook, this site, etc. When I look through the forums there seems to be a lot of people who get their problems fixed within hours or a day or two. Why can't I get a reply via email???? I got the generic love-in email "as a premium customer your email will be dealt with as a matter of urgency" and nothing since !!!!!!!! MyHeritage was quite happy to take hundreds of dollars up front, and for what.....a product that does not work, and then ignore all requests for help. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I guess I will just have to write off this money and take it as a lesson learnt that MyHeritage is just another one of those overseas companies that cons money out of hardworking decent people
Only small idea - try labore with language(s) settings. Regarding FTB6 - if is name written in one lang, but no "translated" into second (other) lang, and then FTB6 switched into this other lang, names (me) appeared as unknown. If you use FTB7, i do not know how is it solved there, regarding to Unicode support currently introduced.
If nothing helps, the latest chance is, restore project from latest good backup.
thanks for your ideas, I did try the language idea through the tools bar but they are both set for English, so has made no difference.
I notice on my Family tree home page that when I get notices of birthdays etc I get the names on my home page, not sure which trees its pulling the information from as both of them have all 4536 names as UNKNOWN.........
Have tried to do a backup was sent a link from my heritage but I lost all my pics as well as the names.....
I was wondering if anyone has ordered their family tree poster and delivered to an address in Ireland? I am wondering if I ordered one how long it would take to produce and deliver and I can't seem to find an answer on the site.
How do you remove the "Caption Bar"? As far as I am concerned it is a waste of space and of no value. It is too big and redundant. I would rather have more space for displaying the family tree and working area. How do I get rid of it?
I sure wish that I read this forum before giving MH my money. I am so very disappointed in the search engine. It has not helped me what so ever. There is very little info for Canada except if you want Ontario. I want info for Newfoundland. I can't find anything. Ancestory.com has alot of info. I should of gave them my money instead. I want a refund. I feel totally rip-off.
Assuming, you wrote "publish" instead "sync", that you still use FTB6, so your tree is NOT editable online. So, are you sure, you are the only one website manager? Isnt possible, that FTB is installed anywhere twice? If these basics are ok, then:
Try double check your full local computer date time.
Next, if you are 100% sure, that your local copy is very latest, try make any minor change and fresh save. Next manually force publish.
If problem remains, or is not possible forced publishing, you can try as latest option: carefully manually delete tree on website and pure republish again from pc.
My father who made our family site, have died from cancer and his last wish where for me to taker over the family site. But even tho I am webmaster of the site and also have access to my fathers account I can't seem to find a change of ownership.
How can I change owership from my fathers name to mine, so I don't have to feel the sorrow, when seing his name being online, when I have to log in from his account to manage the information on his computer?
I am a new member of this website and have started with putting my family history in v.7 of the MyHeritage Family Tree Builder and subsequently sync't it to the MyHeritage Website. All good and it worked fine.
Yes, I can see all the complete "shang-me-bang" once I have logged into the MyHeritage website.
But ..... how can one from outside the MyHeritage Website see that my family history exist on the Website? I have tried with my own name and details, without logging in, to see if my name is registered within the MyHeritage Website. To no avail, I just do not exist.
People, I have had some "glitches" too, and sometimes it can be frustrating, but try and remember a computer does not have a brain and cannot be programmed to fix something, until after the problem occurs - I have always found the MyHeritage Team to be more than helpful in the past -
Do you know I have now met family members from overseas I did not know I had, each of us descending from four brothers who lost each other c1900. We are each of us tracing our family history and we are now working together so re-uniting our family after all these years!
Who cares about lost photos and computer "glitches" - it is family that matters and preserving our history for generations to come - Thank You MyHeritage, you are doing a grand job!
I agree 100%, gratitude when it's deserved. But when it's not deserved...
You point out "glitches" in the software, what I would call bugs. Bugs will always occur with a complex program, there are no way around that. Users, like us, will point out the flaw and the responsible team of programmers will normally fix this in the next version. This is howthings are done in the computer world. I'm sure you notice the endless stream of updates from common software out there, Adobe Reader, Microsoft, any Anti Virus software...I could go on and on.
This is NOT the case with FTB as it stands today. BUGS that are very easy to reproduce and confirmed by many HAS BEEN IGNORED and so has the bug reports we gave MyHeritage. From my point of view, I've done my share of software programming in the past, It's simply disrespectful to ignore users in this way, especially when money are involved. I created code, I made mistakes, users told me about it and I did my best to fix the problem and telling them about the progress.
We have very good documentation right here in this support forum. Bugs that are documented to exist in FTB v.7 build 7101 was not corrected in v7. build 7105. Some bugs are clearly small, I know for a fact it does not take a large amount of work hours to correct them.
You ask who cares about lost data. Well, I do and so does thousands of others. You also go as far to state that preserving history is highly important. We agree! This is why we need FTB to work, so that we don't loose this information! When we loose this information because MyHeritage ignore our bug reports and are not able to/willing to correct problems, we are entitled to be frustrated and angry :)
Back to the initial statement: Gratitude will be given when gratitude are deserved. I urge users to push forward, give MyHeritage what they need to fix all problems with FTB v.7. Make proper bug reports, make it easy for the team to reproduce a bug, give them examples and explain well.
