I'm using Family Tree Builder to build my tree and in the program I have setup my mother to have [first name] [maiden name] [married name]. But in the published version on the website, her names get mixed up, showing [first name] [married name] [maiden name] instead. Why, I don't know, and I can't figure out how to change it either.
2) Please enter your site > settings > genealogy > make sure the display of "names of married women" is set accordingly to the setting in your Family Tree Builder program.
I had asked on a previous question why I still have 'post deleted' on my comment list when I delete a post. Usually nothing shows up on the actual board when I delete a post. This time it did, any ideas why?
I publiced my site .when I looked at it i don't see peoples birth dates how can i check to see if I've blocked that information from the web site?
Also sometimes when i look at the site its missing information and family tree people how do I fix this? and when I'm in builder and go to the publish tool in the box with the site name it show a message tree not published ?Im sure it is published ?
Please check your tree's privacy settings in Family Tree Builder, and remove birth facts and people that were marked as private. Take a look at this FAQ, it will assist you in doing that:
My cousin invited me to MyHeritage.com and I am very eager to add as much information as possible to the family tree that she began. I have been made into an administrator on the family tree and I can change settings for it, yet I find I am still unable to edit the tree itself or add relatives to it (I can't even edit my own branch on the tree).
I have found that I can only edit a tree that I build myself; however, this tree contains none of the branches of the family tree created by my cousin.
How can I make it so that I can edit my cousin's family tree?
Francois who wrote below, is indeed correct, that you cannot edit the tree on this site in question, since it was created by your cousin in Family Tree Builder, the software. This means that only your cousin can edit the tree in Family Tree Builder on her computer, and then republish the tree to the site to update the tree that it online.
I suspect that your cousin built his tree using the Family Tree Builder (FTB) software. Trees that have been built in this fashion cannot be edited on-line, not even by the administrator. You can easily verify this. Trees that have been built on-line, have a small plus sign underneath each box. Trees that have been built off-line using FTB don't. If you don't see the plus sign, this means that the tree can only be updated using FTB.
I don't know if this has been covered (I tried to search but nothing seemed to come up about this specific topic).
Several of my family members commented that they love the site but hate signing on because the wall mentions their age on the birthday notations (i.e. "Today is Jane Doe's 56th Birthday!").
Is there any way to still say "Happy Birthday" to so and so without mentioning age? I'm afraid some of my more age sensitive cousins will never come back to the site.
I think that the only way to keep that information completely private from everyone would be to completely leave it all off or to only include the actual birthday without year. Then add the year for people who are dead. Those are all I can think of.
I apparently signed up and joined Dynastree about 18 months ago with an older email address - and had forgotten but have 1800 people in the tree (but no photos).
I recently joined MyHeritage under a different newer email address and imported my tree from Geni (which also had a lot of photos but only 250 people!).
So I have two email logins, and 2 trees - one tree has almost 8x as many people, but the other has about 200 photos.
How can I merge them into one.
I have tried to export them both into FTB and it runs a report for duplicates but there is no way I can find to easily choose which duplicate to keep - I have to export the duplicate file and then go through one by one seeing which one has photos attached etc.
I thought I may have been able to merge them somehow with SmartMatches, but as I am not a premium member with my originally tree (that was imported from Dynastree) I can't confirm any of them so they are all `unconfirmed' in limbo!
Any ideas on how to easily merge both trees into one, and also easily delete the duplicate people that occur because of the merge?
