Right click on your card, goto Spouses -> Add spouse - if you don't already have her in the database - or Attach spouse if she is already listed. You will get a message to say you already have a spouse. Are you sure you want to add another spouse? Click Yes and add as normal.
The usefulness of this site would be greatly improved when trying to prove smart matches if there was a link to the source of the information that proves a fact that is given. While trying to prove a match many that I am given only contain maybe a birth year with no indication of where that information was found, some contain no place. That way I can see where fellow reasearchers have proof. If they have none I can dismiss the match. It would also give me information that I can research to see if what they have found is actually true.
The smart matches themselves only offer the most basic of dates. However, many websites allow guests, and in those cases you can visit the website containing the match. There you may find additional information conecerning the person in question.
I myself am frequently offering original documents as sources on my website. To this end, I add URLs as comments to a person's record. Unfortunately, MyHeritage doesn't recognize web addresses in records yet, and therefore doesn´t convert them to hyper-links. This would be a very useful feature to have.
I have found that the tree view in Smart Matches has more information to the left of the screen- however a link to the source would be the best option, and opening in a pop up window- would allow you to keep the original on screen, the problem with original documents, in most cases they are on web sites that require a fee, and so the links might not always work.
I have a male in my tree who has been married 3 times and divorced twice. Even though the website where I make changes has dotted lines to the 2 appropriate ex-wives, the chart still shows a solid line to the 2 wives (making him appear to be married to 2 women). The entries are all correct, it just shows up incorrectly in the descendents chart. What am I doing wrong or is this a limitation of the program? Thanks, Barbara
I have one particular member on my tree who is having difficulty logging on to myheritage site online. Initially he was unsuccessful at 'becoming a member' as he said so he contacted myheritage.com support and they issued him with a password. He was still unable to gain access to the tree so, as Site Manager, I went on to the site and changed his profile password.
I then sent him a link to the site and now the problem is that he can go to the family tree and navigated around his section, which would be correct in recognising him, but he was able to do this without entering a name or password. He is unable to edit profiles. He then told me that there is a remark stating that the page he's trying to get into has been blocked by the site manager. PLEASE HELP. I do not know what's wrong and he's the only member having this problem.
We have a family website and want to add an address that will alert all MyHertitage site members of updates to the website. Is there an external email address that can be used to reach for all site members? Similar to a "blogsend" address.
If you are going to develop something like this, it would be helpful to provide for email groups as well. Especially if the site gets very large, it may be useful to create family groups you can send content to.
Why don't you have a https website that is secure and has padlock showing that transactions on the site are secure? When we post Family information on our Sites, for living people, that is considered private and sensitive information but if your site is not a "securie" site, then how can we protect private, sensitive information--such as the profiles of site members?
The reason for MyHeritage.com not being a https and secure site on all pages is to allow users to share information with each other, find their relatives and research their family. All pages regarding payment in our site have https and are completely secure.
However, you do have the option to choose the privacy options for your own site and make it completely private.
The https protocol has nothing to do with sharing information with each other and doing research. It's use would be to encrypt (and protect) information transmitted between my PC and the MyHeritage servers. Https would prevent sharing information with a hacker that can capture information transmitted over the internet. The functionality of the MyHeritage website should not be affected in the least by using https. Protecting our information using https is important since it contains birth dates and maiden names, which are often used to verify identity, and can be used for identity theft in the wrong hands. MyHeritage has a responsibility to protect our family information and prevent identity theft by using https. Please use https and make MyHeritage a secure website!
Når jeg modtager en mail om nye smart matches og jeg trykker på sammenlign matches viser mit eget slægtstræ meget ofte "ukendt" eller "-------" eller forkert efternavn på personer der er skrevet ind i "træet". Hvorfor det??
