When I open my tree, I see my family, my brother's family and a few more. My father is shown but his parents aren't shown, even though they are in the database. What should I do to get them to show up? Assuming I can get them to show up, what do I do to find their ancestors and perhaps the ancestor's descendents? In other words, I want to move about in the tree but I don't see how to do that. Is it possible?
There is a button attached to the top of the person's name card. It shows as two little blue and pink squares. Just click on that and it will take you to that person's family.
I've noticed many trees have entries marked <Private>, so many that I wonder if it is a feature I do not know about? Does it appear only on Trees that have the Privacy Setting on Full Privacy versus Mixed versus Public? Is it a secret button for each entry? Do people actually type <Private>?
It shows <Private> for living persons. If you have a historic person and dont know any dates and forget to mark the person as dead you will get it. So a father/mother/spouse/child to a person who lived in the 1500s will be treated as living with this misstake.
Jeg har stillet næsten det samme spørgsmål, fordi jeg er så træt af alle de ubruglige match, det eneste svar jeg fik var at de ville sende det til dem som sidder og retter programmet til., og det er ca 5. mdr. siden, og intet er sket.

Dear,
We have a known issue of corrupt Smart Matches pools, which cause this strange behaviour. Our development team will make improvements in our algorithm as soon as possible. In the meanwhile I apologize for the inconvenience, and hope you will be able to get good matches as well.
When I go to my hompage, it shows that I have 2 new smartmatches to review. When I go in to review them, under the Reynolds/Hurt/Sweitzer Web Site, it says that I have 16 smartmatches to review, but the page is blank. It has been that way for about four months now. It is getting very irritating to have to skip around over that site in order to review my other smart matches, which seem to have no problem posting. If a My Heritage problem solver reads this, would you please go into my site and correct this problem??? I'm using this path because the help tab will no longer pull up the form to file a complaint, it is hung up on "nano tech pending", or some similar message. Thank you! Charles Herndon.
I have a lot of matching trees with the same error. When going thru the smart matches By Person I sometimes get a list which should have i.e 12 persons but only show 11. To resolve this I confirm/reject all but one incorrect match and then select the reject all. Of course I will perhaps have made an incorrect rejection but it is probably a wrong match anyway. It is not always all matches in a tree that gives the problem. The list seems to stop listing after an error. So if the first match has an error the list will be empty.
In order to get to a solution, we have been trying to reproduce the bug you describe without success.
Please next time you see this problem, do not reject or confirm the matches. Instead send to me an email including the tree an the person that contain the match to my private address support@myheritage.com so I can forward this to the technical department for a solution.
I am new to this site and process. How do you get rid of a "smart match" that you have rejected. The "match" keeps showing up on the list, even though it has been rejected.
The person has uploaded another tree to their site. Each time they upload a new tree, the same info appears for you to check. Some have about fifty. Probably a lot of them don't even realize they're doing it.
From what Iunderstand, if you publish the tree from FTB, it will automatically give you another tree. There may be another "update" method there that does it too.
OK, but what steps can I take to discover whether I have more than one tree published, and how do I get rid of the old ones, just in case I have been guilty of this without knowing???
Thanks, I'll know how next time this comes up. Also, Noam just replied to me about this on another stream. He said he checked my site and I was not causing any problems for anyone by saving my day's work, or by publishing occasionally, and that I had only one version of my tree on my site. You guys had me a little shaken up, thinking I was causing unintended problems for others. Glad to learn I'm not.
Now I am getting very tired of that part of the program as some call Smart Match. I'm about to be drowned in Smart Match, but whenI examine Smarts Match, it's 1 out of 200 matc hing suits. And I have the settings to the name should fit very strict.
Let me give the example, In my family tree I have the following person:
Now comes Smart Match and then tells me that now it has found a Smart Match, open and see if it really fits, and here is what the program tells me:
Name:Johanne Pedersdatter.
Birth: 21. January 1767.
Premiumname: Nielsen.
Place of birth:Frederiksborg County.
Alive: no.
Date of death: 2. October 1849.
Father:Peter Nielsen.
Husband: Soeren Nielsen.
Daughter: Karen Soerensdatter.
Daughter: Marie Soerensdatter.
Son: Niels Sorensen. Matchquality:46%
When we now examine the above Match, so I do not see anything which would provide a Match, is there someone in this forum who can give me an explanation how you can affordto call this a Match. With what I've seen of the Match, then I decide not prepared to extend payment of the program, because you spend lot of time, with pure re-Match.
