thank you for your message. Could you please explain us what kind of search you tried to use and where? If Smart Research please make sure to use Internet Explorer browser only.
I used the search option in the free version of "Family Tree Builder" When I start this program, a new window of Mozilla Firefox also opens. Do you think the problem is that the program is connected to Firefox and not Explorer?
Thank you for the answer. I am very sorry for the late response.
An option "Smart Research" in Family Tree Builder is the Premium feature only - so to use it your program required Premium verson. Please note that in case you will buy Premium for Family Tree Builder - you will get the Premium option forever for our Family Tree Builder software.
PS. Smart Research can be done using IE only - nor Firefox or another browser.
It is possible to attach a PDF or Doc file to your family tree. In the site, you can upload the file just as any photo, and even associate it to a certain person.
In the Family Tree Builder when you go to the Photo section > New > you will see that you have the the option of New Documents.
I have problem with my tree, My parents were never married and are not together now, but under each of their info section, the other is listed as a partner and in the "families" section it says under my mother & stepfather's bit that my mother has one other marriage, and is the same under my father & stepmother's section, any suggestions?
Is there a place where i can record a name that people are known by, if they already have a nickname, for example, my great grandfather's name was John Joseph, his nickname was Jack, but he was often known by what we in our family call our "old country names", i.e. the italian form of our name, his "old country name" was Gian.
Also, is there a way of making the name that a person is normally known by appear on the family tree, because alot of my family are named after each other so it gets really confusing with John Jr, John Sr, John Joe, etc.
Another thing, is there a way of making a person's former name appear on the tree if they changed their name.
How does one assign a source citations to a specific EVENT (like a birth or marriage), not a person's name?
For example, if I have an LDS film number / record number of a person's birth, how do I fill out the SCOURCE and Source citation forms such that when i export a MyHeritage gedcom, the appropriate field get filled out.
Several genealogy software packages allow for source citations per event, even multiple citations for the SAME event.
I think even FTB has this feature. But when I import the gedcom into FTB, I only get the citation attached to the name, NOT THE EVENT (like a birth).
To assign one source (or more) to a specific event, please follow these steps:
1. Locate the person's card on the tree
2. Click "Edit" > "Edit Details: ..."
3. Go to the tab "Facts"
4. Select the fact (event) to which you want to add the source
5. Click: "Fact Citations"
6. Select the source citation in the dropdown menu (or create a new one)
7. If there are additional citations, click on the button: "Add Additional citations"
8. Click "Ok"

I'm hoping that this is simple, but I can't figure it out. I have two trees, I am in both of my trees. I uploaded pictures to one of my trees, and tagged myself in the picture. But that picture is only associated with one tree, not both. I can't figure out how to tag it for both trees, and the only way I can associate a photo directly from the tree is to upload it. I'm confused.
There is no need to upload a photo twice in order to add tags for each tree. You can tag the same picture twice (or more), one time for each tree.
Please note that when you tag a picture on the family site and you start typing the name of the person, below the name the person will appear the tree he/she belongs to. This can be used as a guide to know to which tree the photo is being tagged.
Hope this clarifies. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly to support@myheritage.com in case of further comments or questions.
What I did was to download the picture from the tree it is on, then upload it to the other tree. There might be a better way somehow, but I didn't care enough to look and it worked anyway.
I need help I'm just new to this and everything was fine until I added my husband and now the tree has us all mixed up. It lists my children as step children and it is saying my birthday is my husbands. I've tried changing me to the head but it is all mixed up. please help. Thanks ahead of time.
I need to delete a family member as there was wrong information given, but I have tried to delete, but can't find a way of doing so. Please can any-one help
