Hi. I am having trouble refinding my notes and notes importet through smart mach.
In my family tree Builder software I at least get a hint that a person has a note atached to him/her by a little green square over the envolope when I click on the person in the tree.
However on the webpage I have no hints of any kind. I know I can search on a persons name and see the note in the persons profile, but then I need to know wich note and person I'm after.
I wish to see a list of all the persons WITH a note, without having to visit every person in my family trees profile (that is a lot of job!) Any way to get a hint on who has a note atached to them? Or at least get a symbol like the green square to be visible also online?
We currently do not have this option in the online tree, although thank you for the suggestion. I will be sure to forward it to the appropriate department for consideration.
Please let me know if you have any other ideas as we do value such input from our users.
I encountered the same problem 3 years ago when I started my myHeritage project. My work-around is to put the folks with notes between asterisks in FTB like so: *Jany Ingrid Muench*. In the on-line alphabetical listings they appear first in alphabetical order, which is a little compensatory bonus, so I have never complained about it, for it allows viewing all the persons with biographical notes (many quite extensive) at once. This may be annoying to people who want to copy parts of my tree, but that's their problem. When searching for someone in FTB by first name you do have to remember to start with the asterisk or re-try with the asterisk if you forgot.
A newly started family tree of my wifes family initially opens showing only my wife and myself. It is only after you select the family branch icon above of my wife's name that all the other family members, generations before ourselves and generations after us, show in the family tree. Why is this? How can I get the site family tree to automatically open showing more members of our family tree if not all of them? I am currently notifing everyone what to do to find themselves in this tree. If I need to delete this tree and start over doing it differently I will but please tell me how to do it correctly so that I get more members to show. Should I start with the oldest member? What am I to do?
This is what happens. As you add more and more people into your tree, more will show up when you first open it. As far as helping people find themselves in the tree, associate their membership(on the list of site members) with their place on the tree. That way the tree will automatically open with them as the center when they log on.
As you created your tree in the Family Tree Builder you will need to make all changes in the tree in the program as well, and not in the online site. If you would like me to convert your tree into a Web tree, that can be edited directly online, please let me know.

I signed on with Myheritage thinking that I could get the new 1940 census data. So far, after giving my information to sign on, I have not seen anything about the 1940 census. Where is it?
I tried to print a chart from Family tree Builder to 3 generations and it locked up the software. Printed one from the web site tree and I only got my mother's family, Dad was there but no ancestors. I suppose that is because of the way the program subdivides into miniature 'families' but how do I get an ancestor chart that includes both sides of my family?? The situation at the moment is silly. P.S. How do I do a chart in Excell? That would suit me better anyway, I just want a working chart at the moment with no background, not one for display. G.
PPS I got FTB to generate a chart to 7 generations and it wanted to print over 500 pages! That's when I cut it back to 3 generations. G.
I found the answer! (As to why the chart had so few names.) I have two trees on the site. And being careful to generate the chart from the right tree, I looked to see which tree was open; then looked at Manage trees as a further check on that.
But when I typed in my name ("who is to be the main person in the chart?") and my name came up I clicked on that. Wrong move. I did not notice that my name came up TWICE, with the name of a different tree on each. So I clicked the wrong one, the one without many names.
Now I have printed the chart to 5 generations, took four pages of A4. I can quickly and easily see my ancestors while working on the family tree, and fill in the names of the new ones in pencil for a temporary record on my printed chart. Sometimes it takes ages to scroll across the computer screen to find a name, then scroll up one generation and scroll all the way back, then...
I have generated the chart for 'all generations' but that takes either 24 or 28 A4 pages so won't be practical as a ready reference. Maybe I will re-do it when there are LOTS more names in the tree; for the time being I will think about doing one of 6, just maybe 7 generations, then generate sixteen charts with each person at the generation 5 level being the main person for a separate chart. And if I can find someone with an A2 printer....Even an A3. I'm going to look at the chart creation system again to see if I can include an identification 'label' on each chart.

Display och programspråket i Family Tree Builder
I Family Tree Builder, är det möjligt att välja ett visningsspråk och ett programspråk.
Visningsspråket motsvarar alla knappar och namn i programmet. Visningsspråket förändrar endast Family Tree Builders gränssnitt och kommer inte att påverka informationen som du har i trädet.
Programspråket överensstämmer med de uppgifter du anger i själva trädet. Namn, platser, anteckningar o.s.v.
Problem kan uppstå när data tas upp i ett språk och displayspråket är ett annat. Till exempel, ett träd har italienska som visningsspråk men tagit upp information på spanska.
Orsaken till problemet är att när visningsspråket är inställt på italienska, och försöker att läsa alla uppgifter i italiensk teckenkodning. Om spanska tecken ingår kommer Family Tree Builder inte veta hur informationen ska läsas av eftersom programmet försöker läsa in informationen enligt egenskap av italienska tecken.
När detta problem uppstår, visar Family Tree Builder namn som okänd. Det kan finnas data i trädet, men det går inte att läsa av namnet och därför visas statusen okänd.
Vänligen öppna ditt projekt i Family Tree Builder för att åtgärda detta. Och se till att du har de lämpliga språken väljs och översätts. Det gör du på följande sätt:
1. Välj språk. Gå till verktyg> I språkmenyn kan du välja visningsspråk primärt och/eller ett sekundärt språk. Det rekommenderas att visnings- och primärspråket är desamma.
2. Översätt data. Översättningsguiden är ett snabbt och effektivt sätt att översätta data till ett sekundärt språk. Gå till Verktyg> Översättningsguide för att enkelt översätta namn och orter i ditt träd. Publicera en ny version av ditt träd till din släktplats för att uppdatera alla ändringar.
The reason that you and other members appear Unknown in your tree is most probably a language issue- if you add information to your tree in 2 languages, you must make sure to add all the info in both languages, otherwise it will appear as Unknown. You can check what languages are in your tree if you open your project in Family Tree Builder and go to Tools> Languages.Make sure to set the same display and primary data language, even if you have a secondary data language. If you right-click on that window and go to Manage data languages, you will see how much data is in each language. You can choose to copy all info to one language or add all of it in both languages.

I versionen 5.0 fanns det en info. om ett liknande namn när man la in en person.´Denna info försvann för mig vid ett datahaveri hur får jag tillbaka det
Hej Lior. Det som har hänt är att jag inte längre får en info- om att ett namn redan finns i trädet så jag slipper få flera i samma släkt, det är alltså jämförelsen viid samma namn som är borta- Hälsningar Bengt
