Daniel, I underdtand about not talking to someone personlally, but your written ans. may help me. I have most of my tree information in ancestry.com. I want to get it all in My Heritage. I understand I must use Gedcom, but do not know where to begin. I need my information in My Heritage to work on my family tree. Thanks. Aubrey Ted Parrish
Ted, I will try with partial answer. I dont use that online service you do, so I will just give you a general answer. All 'family tree' programs I tried, support exporting and importing into/from GEDCOM format.
So, techically what you should do is, go through menus of your service (probably under 'File') and look for 'Export'.
If there is 'export' click on it. Then you should have different options how (into which format) you can export to. You need to choose GETCOM. Then you choose where on you computer you save it and under what name. Leave all setings as default usually that's all you need. Just click on OK.
After this is done you start this free program. My tree builder or whatever it's name is (I'm new, first time here) and go to 'File' and click on Import and browse to that location on your computer where you saved exported file.
If you can't find export button in your online service, you may need to call them and ask them how to get to it. Hope this helps...
Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience on this subject, I've taken a look at your issue. However, I'm having quite a bit trouble finding these specific photos - in order to protect your privacy I would like you to write an email to Support@myheritage.com in order for us to try and look at your problem and solve it with specific examples (such as what is the photos name and the album names etc.)
If you can find the photos in the photos section you can just drag the pictures with the mouse cursor to the albums on the left pane of the screen and they will be relocated.
How do you obtain info to visit other MyHeritage Sites. I'd be interested in visiting but have been unable to locate any through a Google Search. What keywords should be used or is there a list somewhere, where you can sift through and pick out sites with similar family names
Hi, If you use SmartMatches, either in Family Tree Builder or on the Website, then somewhere in the details of the Match you will see the name of the website it comes from and also the name of the site owner; they are each in blue (okay, I think FBT are black but they are in their own column) and you can click to go to them. Should be helpful as these are the ones very likely to have the information you are interested in. Also somewhere amongst that stuff you can click to invite the site owner to your tree or ask to join hers.
You can try our "Research" page that appears if you login to MyHeritage.com. You will be able to use the SuperSearch tool we offer in order to search for specific sites. I would recommend trying to view only by the collection "MyHeritage Family Site collection".
Also, if you scroll down the page, you will see at the bottom "Last Name Directory" - there you would be able to see discussions on some of the common last names.
Please, let me know if you need any further assistance.
I am not able to right click and get to the Attach feature to correct a father/daughter relationship to a husband/wife relationship ... went to Help and they give a good explanation but I'm not able to access the functionality they describe to correct the tree.
I have to stop using my company PC to work with "Family Tree Builder" Any chance of working directly from the Web on the same tree ? If yes, I presume it is also possible work from a MAC(and i near future from an App,,,,,,,)
