With great difficulty, I have managed to collect information about our family. I have created 4 separate trees (each having approximately 25-40 members) as I don’t know how they are linked to each other. With an idea to create a single family tree I have merged all of them to a single project.
Can anyone give me an idea to link them up? Is the term "add unrelated member" meant for this purpose. If so how can I connect the groups?
If nothing of this sort is available, as a suggestion, FTB should have something for this in future, such that, at least while printing the chart, link between subgroups are shown in dotted lines.
How should FTB know how to link them? FTB cannot invent connections. One way to solve the problem might be to create a record of a person with first name "common" and last name "forefather," and make him the father of the top of each tree. The common forefather would then be a temporary placeholder until you find additional information.
Thank you for the reply. It seems to be a good work around and I would go ahead as you suggested. But in the chart, this place holder would be displayed as normal male/female.
I would really appreciate if MyHeritage team has some solution to answer such a case i.e. In Fan chart, Generations are linked with Single line, Husband and wife are connected with double line, similarly some line format should be made available to connect such place holders.
Not necessarily. MyHeritage displays men in blue and women in red. However, if you specify the sex of the common forefather as unknown, then the common forefather box will be displayed in grey.
Thank you for your reply. I am in one of the group but not all of them. In all the groups, the information about 2-3 generations are available. No clue beyond that. Hence linking these groups is not easy.

Hello, I have a question about the automatic charging of my credit card for the "Family Goal"
When I first started setting this up I was under the impression that I would not be charged NOW for my $25 start off contribution. Yet I was.
There was no indication that there was any "Time Limit" to raise the total amount of $120 when I started clicking on the suggestions Yet there was.
I have since encountered opposition to the upgrade being NOW. It may be a choice my family would make LATER.
How do I get the $25 returned to my credit card? Why the time limit in the first place? Why was I led to believe that I would not be charged until all money was raised?
I have family members concerned about privacy. I may not be able to continue without their support.

Oh , I fully understand the email that was sent "after" the fact. What I am trying to say is: I was in the fantasy that what I was doing was akin' (like unto) a pledge. Not an actuall payment. I was ready to pledge the $25 to the cause.
Just give me a prorata premium access for whatever $25 will buy
When i uploaded my tree to my website and paid for the premium version there were a bunch of smartmatches for many people on my tree no there are none. What happened Tried to contact support but of course they have never responded to any of my emails

Please note that each time that you publish your tree to the site the Smart Match calculation process is restarted. This means that if you publish your tree very frequently you may experience a large delay in receiving the new Matches.
I have now made a change in the database so that your site's Matches will be processed faster. Please wait 3 days without publishing a new version of your tree to the site, and you should receive Matches.
If this does not resolve the problem, please let me know.
Very often when I compare matches in my tree and other trees the box for the person is empty and contains only the word "Private" even if it's a person born 1730!!!! Why is that?
Also people tell me that my tree has those boxes! s far as I know I have NOT blocked any persons or blocked any information to be seen, or.......... have I missed something?
MyHeritage is not "smart" in human terms. It's only a program. It doesn't know that all people born in 1730 are dead. Thus, if the owner of the other tree has not taken off the (default) marker of "alive" when entering the person in question, MyHeritage thinks that this person is still alive, and will display that person's record as "private."
Since you are a member of your own website, you will see all records in your tree displayed. You need to check whether all dead people have a black diagonal line across the upper left corner of the record. If they don't, then MyHeritage considers them still to be alive, and then other people, who are not members of your website, will get them displayed as "private."
I don't know whether you built your tree interactively or whether you are using Family Tree Builder (FTB). FTB offers plausibility checking. You can run diagnostics on your database, and the software will tell you if a person is unreasonably old (like 280 years old and still alive), or if a mother is five years younger than her child.
If you built your tree in MyHeritage, you can export it to Gedcom, then import the Gedcom file to FTB. Then you can run diagnostics on your database, even if your tree was built in MyHeritage.

What I found is that if a person doesn't know the "death" date of a tree person, they DO NOT click the "DECEASED" box so when a smart match is posted, as the reply stated, it is private as the program thinks the tree person is still alive. Maybe a future (near) update to the program may mark anyone born more then 150 years back is automatically marks as deceased.
This is happened to me a lot more than it used to. I supposed it's possible that a majority of people I am matched with have decided recently to make their trees private, but I doubt it. I am starting to think that MH has developed another bug.
