Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience regarding this matter.
I understand that you might have some difficulty deleting a personal picture from a person on the tree. There is an additional way of doing that:
1. Click on a persons card with the person with the error.
2. Click on "View Profile" button which is located on the left panel (the blue button)
3. You will be sent to the profile page, move your mouse cursor on top of the profile picture - you will notice three little icons on the top right of the personal picture, click on the little trashcan.
Please, let me know how it works out for you.

If you're using Family Tree Builder - from menu bar (File, Edit, View, Person, Family, ..........) Select Tools, Options, Names and finally click on the default answer of "First, Last" in the right column of the first row. A drop-down list gives several options.
Now I'll give you just my personal opinion. I'd suggest not to make the change right now and I wouldn't recommend that you permit the software to connect with the myheritage.com site FOR ANY REASON (not for backup, not for editing changes, not to publish)! The new version of FTB is giving much unhappiness to users at present. Make sure your software is not active (close the window) if you decide to go online to view your tree. Do not be alarmed if your online tree appears to be ruined; if you do not permit FTB to communicate with the website you'll be fine after the current problems have been fixed.
This is a fine application and the flaws will shortly(?) be eliminated. Trust me :) You do not want to join those of us who are struggling with the problems.
Go to family tree builder and to the person whose picture you want to replace and click on the picture (I can't remember if it's right or left click...try both). You'll get an option to delete picture. Do so. Then click on the empty picture frame and inport the new picture.
Thank you for answering. I do not get an option to delete - that is the problem. I used to have it in the older version, but not in this new one. It is only in the "picture frames" where I don't have a picture, where I get an option to put in a new one. Once that is done it is there forever? The options I get when I rightclick are: View Image - Copy IOmage - Copy image location - Save Image as - Email Image - Set as desktop background - view Image Info - Inspect element (Q). None of these takes me any closer to deletion...If I leftclick I get into the person's profile, but still no way to change the picture.
Wow! When I right click on the photo, it gives me a drop down, which has a heading "photos". When you position the arrow over "photos", it give you the option to "edit personal photo". If your's doesn't do this, I can only think of perhaps deleting the person and then adding them back in, but, that wouldn't be wise if you have decendents input under them. Good Luck!
thank you for the message. You meant with Family Tree Builder? If yes...
to transfer your Family Tree Builder Tree from one computer to another:
First, save your family tree from Family Tree Builder onto removable media. The best way to back up your family tree is to use Family Tree Builder’s backup facility on File > Back up Project. It will save a single file, perfect for backup, that contains your family tree and all its photos and documents. You can save it to any removable media device such as a flash/pen drive or CD/DVD.
The backup can then be restored on Family Tree Builder on a different computer, by going into Family Tree Builder on that computer and using File > Restore Project.
Virker ikke dett da? Det du publiserer fra din PC skal overskrive det du har på din web og da burte alt bli rett. En annen måte er å lagre tredet på PC:en din med et annet navn og publisere, sette net NYE tredet som aktivt og slette det gamle.
My ancestors all appear as <private> on my tree (to guests) despite their full names and details being visible when clicking on their profile pages. The ancestors all have at least a circa date of death and some have a definite date of death. I have checked my privacy settings and have searched the help pages for some idea of where I'm going wrong. I just don't know what to try next. I'd be really grateful for any advice. Thanks.
I have been using Family Tree Maker for several years and have a fairly large family tree......but there are things that I do not like about that program. I am wondering if I switch to My Heritage if there is any way to import all of part of my tree or it will all have to be re-entered by hand one person at a time
The interface between different genealogical programs is the GEDCOM standard. However, each genealogical program offers features that are not included in GEDCOM. For example, GEDCOM doesn't know anything about pictures. Thus, even if two different genealogical programs from two different companies offer features that look similar on the outside but are not included in the GEDCOM standard (such as pictures), these facets will in all likelihood get filtered out in the transition. For this reason, it is very likely that you will lose important facets of your database when you convert it from Family Tree Maker to MyHeritage.
You will definitely be able to import your tree into MyHeritage by exporting your current tree in Family Tree Maker to GEDCOM and them importing the GEDCOM file to MyHeritage. Unfortunately, all fields in your database that are not contained in the GEDCOM standard will get filtered out. Those fields will have to be manually moved over by yourself. This can be done, but requires some work on your part.
Every genealogical program has its individual strengths and weaknesses. You will likely discover that some features of your current database cannot be mapped in a satisfactory way to MyHeritage. For example, Family Tree Maker is strong at managing hyperlinks to files (pictures) with information on sources. This is still a weakness of MyHeritage. It can be done but less well and less conveniently than in Family Tree Maker. I have however no way of knowing whether you make much use of that feature in your tree.
I have a guy who is my uncles sister-in-law's husband, he is also my fathers cousins son, so basically he comes out at two ends so the question is, this guy has two profiles how can I merge them together so the family tree joins back in on itself? Thank you for your time
As far as I know you cannot merge two profiles. You will need to destroy (remove) one of them. For example you could remove the son of the cousin of your father from your tree. Then you give your uncle's sister-in-law's husband a father, but rather than giving him a new father, you connect him to a person who is already on the tree, namely to your father's cousin. This closes the loop.
MyHeritage doesn't draw closed loops, however. This would quickly get confusing and lead to overlapping connections (the tree would no longer be a planar tree). Instead, one person within the loop will be shown in two places, indicated by a brown dot "2x," unless you click on either of those two representations. When the person is at the center of the tree, the "2x" marker disappears and the tree is being built around him. Then the loop will get broken elsewhere, and another person will receive the "2x" marker.
