I have located the folder that contains the data. Even though MyHeritage saves to the folder that I previously specified: it does not save it there, and causes other problems. Even in the unhidden state it does not exist. I explained this much earlier.
MyHeritage saves all data to C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyHeritage.
Problems are systemic if the source data is not correctly associated with the path: you cannot generate books and charts if the programme cannot directly identify where the data is stored even though the programme is storing the data, saving it to a different location other than displayed and when drawing from. (I really wish I was able to post the .bmp's I have saved of the many errors and problems into this forum, as it would assist the dveloper and those that want to resolve problems.)
MyHeritage Version 6.0.0 Build 5634 on installation chose the path it was saving its own data to in C:\Program Files\MyHeritage\Data, but in fact it was not saving it there at all: it was saving it to C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyHeritage. .: Within the operational programme: go to Tools>Options>General>Projects Directory>(And then add: C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyHeritage\Data)
Forget about '2. Attachments' as they are either vetted or blocked.
There are 2 reasons, I did not have/had this problems. I did change the project path to my 'central' data location, I've written before. And the 2nd reason is that I'm using another genealogy software for reporting purpose.
Is it possible to change the ID of a person in the program ? Because I've deleted some persons and now there are unused ID's and they are not in order. How can I arrange them ? And how can I write using diacritics without them transforming into question marks ? My program is in romanian. What changes should I do ?
The ID numbers for people in your tree in Family Tree Builder, are internal to the programming of the tree, and are not editable.ID numbers are not re-used when people are deleted. Therefore, ID numbers can exceed the actual number of individuals in the tree.
To fix the language settings you will need to change an additional setting of Windows7:
Go to the Start menu > Control Panel > Clock, Region and Language > Regional and Language Options > go to the administrative tab of the options menu, and define Romanian in the non-Unicode programs language section.
I could upload a screenshot but I am sure it will be useless. The problem is that the diacritics ș and ț turn into ?.
So showing you a screenshot would mean the same as showing you a question mark. Like when I'm trying to type Ștefan (Stephen) it turns into ?tefan. Or Ghiță (George) turns into Ghi?ă. The problem is with ț and ș not with other diacritics like ă, î, â.
Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience regarding this matter.
Unfortunately not all languages are supported for the book report, however if you choose to change your language setting to view the family site in English the option will be presented to you. You can do it by clicking the button from the top right of the screen and choosing English.
You could try making a book report in Family Tree Builder, by importing the project to the family tree builder and it should work more properly. The book report itself is yet to be translated in Danish though.
I've recently changed my PC and was hoping to restore my tree from the website. However when I go to>manage trees it does not give me the option download the restore file. In addition, my login doesn't seem to recognise me as the tree owner/administrator so I think I've done something wrong. Any ideas?
I downloaded the free version of FTB yesterday and spent the night importing my family tree from a Gedcom file, then updating, saving along the way. By 2am I was happy with the updates and that everything was working.
But this evening when I opened the project it asked me to fix inconsistencies, gave me no option to say 'no' and once it "fixed" the inconsistencies, my family tree was all over the place. Unrelated men of different generations are now married to each other, my great-great grandparents are now my ex-husband's siblings etc, and all the previous connections have been completely re-arranged.
It tells me a back-up was created, but as soon as I open the back-up it asks me to fix the inconsistencies ... and vicious circle ...
This has turned my years of research into rubbish and I'm really regretting downloading FTB. Wish I'd bought and paid for a completely different program! Please help me at least restore my old file so I haven't lost everything.
Nope! Only worked once. When I shut down the program, then re-opened it twenty minutes later everything is scrambled again. My brother is now married to our great-aunt and has my cousin's children as his own, and our great great grandfather as one of his (many) half-siblings. WTF?
