Can I recover a previously used unique address for my site? I accidently changed my unique address and on discovering my error a moment later tried to change back to the original address but received a warning message 'Sorry, the address is already taken'.
Is there anyway the original address can be unlocked (by e-mailing MyHeritage perhaps) as it was presumably locked by my good self on initial use?
Under/ General>Projects directory: it states that the location is 'C:Program FilesMyHeritageData' But the gedcom's and zed's are not located in this directory. The folder is indexed and I have applied archiving attributes but the gedcom and zed files cannot be located in this folder. I have performed a computer search but they cannot be found. Are they hidden, and how do I access them? Thank you.
Thank you Remo for your assistance. I am running Windows 7. I suspect I am running the current version of MyHeritage Family Tree Builder: although you wouldn't know as the properties of the version I downloaded 7 April 2013 states: 'File Version 0.0.0.0'; Product Version: 0,0,0,0' And that's coming from the application specific. See attachment. This programme was downloaded from MyHeritage.com yesterday 7 April 2013. When I was running the programme on my other computer: XP, it saved the gedom's to the file I nominated: Tools>Options>General>Projects Directory:___, but with this download: downloaded yesterday on my laptop running W7, it has chosen itself on install: C:Program FilesMyHeritageData, and the gedcom and zed files are not located there. When you open a project: it states the directory it is sourcing the zed file from: C:Program FilesMyHeritageDataJohn Smith.zed, but it is not housed there, both in the hidden and unhidden state. (Re: Load Genealogy Project)
The files are not located in C:UsersDefaultDocuments.
After starting the laptop today, the name of the project reflects in the search: "C:Program FilesMyHeritageFamiliesJohn SmithDatabase" It didn't yesterday: so rebooting the laptop has recognized it. (Which it shouldn't do: it should reflect in 'search programs and files' once saved) But if you right click on the icon and open file location a 'problem with shortcut' window states: 'The item 'John Smith' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.' However when I start MyHeritage Family Tree Builder, the last project magically loads with my project: but from where?
I do not have problems locating files on my laptop, but MyHeritage has chosen to locate the files in a location: not where it states it is; not where I have stated in the designated folder Tools>Options>General>Projects Directory:___: but in a place that I cannot locate but the programme can?? Refer to attachments.
I have located the folder that contains the data. Even though MyHeritage saves to the folder that I previously specified: it does not save it there, and causes other problems. Even in the unhidden state it does not exist. I explained this much earlier.
MyHeritage saves all data to C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyHeritage.
Problems are systemic if the source data is not correctly associated with the path: you cannot generate books and charts if the programme cannot directly identify where the data is stored even though the programme is storing the data, saving it to a different location other than displayed and when drawing from. (I really wish I was able to post the .bmp's I have saved of the many errors and problems into this forum, as it would assist the dveloper and those that want to resolve problems.)
MyHeritage Version 6.0.0 Build 5634 on installation chose the path it was saving its own data to in C:\Program Files\MyHeritage\Data, but in fact it was not saving it there at all: it was saving it to C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyHeritage. .: Within the operational programme: go to Tools>Options>General>Projects Directory>(And then add: C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyHeritage\Data)
Forget about '2. Attachments' as they are either vetted or blocked.
There are 2 reasons, I did not have/had this problems. I did change the project path to my 'central' data location, I've written before. And the 2nd reason is that I'm using another genealogy software for reporting purpose.
Is it possible to change the ID of a person in the program ? Because I've deleted some persons and now there are unused ID's and they are not in order. How can I arrange them ? And how can I write using diacritics without them transforming into question marks ? My program is in romanian. What changes should I do ?
The ID numbers for people in your tree in Family Tree Builder, are internal to the programming of the tree, and are not editable.ID numbers are not re-used when people are deleted. Therefore, ID numbers can exceed the actual number of individuals in the tree.
To fix the language settings you will need to change an additional setting of Windows7:
Go to the Start menu > Control Panel > Clock, Region and Language > Regional and Language Options > go to the administrative tab of the options menu, and define Romanian in the non-Unicode programs language section.
I could upload a screenshot but I am sure it will be useless. The problem is that the diacritics ș and ț turn into ?.
So showing you a screenshot would mean the same as showing you a question mark. Like when I'm trying to type Ștefan (Stephen) it turns into ?tefan. Or Ghiță (George) turns into Ghi?ă. The problem is with ț and ș not with other diacritics like ă, î, â.
Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience regarding this matter.
Unfortunately not all languages are supported for the book report, however if you choose to change your language setting to view the family site in English the option will be presented to you. You can do it by clicking the button from the top right of the screen and choosing English.
You could try making a book report in Family Tree Builder, by importing the project to the family tree builder and it should work more properly. The book report itself is yet to be translated in Danish though.
