Hi all, I read several FAQ topics about issues with potentially lost data since upgrade to version 7 reported by particular users. I belive they can be solved or they affected only limited group of users but, on the other hand, I believe that lot of users, including me, have too may records in their family trees to be able check all the records one by one after the upgrade if any data issue appeared there. I have already upgraded to version 7, backuped tree data before this upgrade. From my point of view, I have no sync issues and - at least major - data seems to be present on both sides in my FTB application and online. I have already started to made new data updates there and, as the amount of these updates is growing, I would like to be sure that I don't have to be afraid about any lost or wrong data hidden somewhere inside in comparsion with my tree data stored in version 6.
That is why I would like to ask My Herritage if they can confirm us, if there are (or not) any data types or other issue related to upgrade to version 7, which we should check to be sure before we continue with major updates of our family trees. Please, don\t consider it offensive, I would like to ensure that we don't have to wait for any major fix. I belive I am not only one who don't want to lost any information which we built for years :)
I downloaded version 7.0. Can I go back to 6.0. I don't like the way the notes are displayed in the reports. The notes use to go under the person in the book report now they say see note 1, 2 , 3 etc and they are at the end. I found the old way much easier to follow instead of flipping back and worth in the printed version.
This probably won't help those who have only 1 computer, but I have v6 permanently installed on laptop and have installed v7 on desktop pc. I have added one of my 12 trees on there, but have not checked for ID changes or other data as yet. BTW I only use FTB as my database as I DON'T publish online to My Heritage as I have my own web site. I convert all the data from a GEDCOM file to add to my site, using a program called GED-GEN.
Yes, you can downgrade back to the former family tree builder 6 version. But we recommend not doing this as the changes, made to family tree in the FTB7 version, will not be shown in the newly downloaded FTB6 version
When you upgraded to the Family tree builder 7 version we automatically saved a backup of your FTB6 family tree projects. If you want to down grade back to the old FTB6 version first install this previous FTB6 version by clicking on the following link:
Prosjektet mitt - dvs. slektstreet mitt er synkronisert, men vises ikke på min webside. All annen informasjon kommer opp, men ikke treet mitt. Hva kan jeg gjøre for at det kan bli synbart for meg. Vet heller ikke om andre kan se treet mitt på siden, eller om det er noen innstilling jeg må endre på min PC?
My tree is less than one thirtieth the size of yours. I keep looking wistfully at the 7.0 notice, but resolutely resist downloading until I see nothing but praise on this forum. Besides, if synching with the on-line tree is the biggest deal about this version, I don't need it and I am not sure I even want it!
For the time beeing, I would recommend people NOT to download and install v 7.0. I have been working with computers since mid 70-ies, also been programming and it is seldom you see a program with so many bugs and faults beeing released.
I have the same problem. I have loaded & reloaded, I have even deleted the file from my system, still nothing. I tried to go back & install the old version, it opens ok but will not accept the downloaded project. All I want is to get the new version running. None of the new versions will download properly. If they appear to do so then windows tell me "My Heritage software has stopped working" Any input would be helpful.
