I have looked through the Help topics, but I did not find a detailed explanation of Sync's logic and merge order. What happens if and when the FTB tree and the site tree have conflicting information? Are changes in the trees date-and-time stamped? I want full control vested in my FTB tree maintinance, and I want complete knowledge of the details and direction of change. Can I have it?
Your Family Tree Builder and online trees will automatically sync with one another every 24 hours, even if your Family Tree Builder is closed (as long as your computer is turned on!). The sync will also occur every time that you save your project.
Photos and tagging of photos that are added by other members of the site will also be conveniently synchronized to your project on Family Tree Builder.
The information that always prevail is the one on the site. That happens because otherwise, information that would be added online by your site members would be overridden by the version of the tree that you have on the Family Tree Builder.
In case of discrepancy, on the Family Tree Builder you will receive a pop-up message telling you about that discrepancy and giving you the option to either upload the version from the FTB to the site (and therefore override the online version) or download the site version (and therefore override the FTB version).
First let me say I hate your weird contact form, I can't work it out. If I have a problem I want to go to a standard contact form, not get lost in a mess of questions and answers. I'll look through them all by myself.
Hence the question here, I couldn't work the form in Help.
A relation and myself have family sites with exactly the same name. It will be a lot less confusing if one of us changes.
I have read "How can I change the name of my family site", but I have a further question;
If I follow those instructions, will the name change in Family Tree Builder as well or is there something else I need to do?
You have corresponded already with us before, through the Support Team e-mail address. So, if the Contact Form is difficult for you, you can always get back to us by sending a message to the same e-mail address, in case you specifically want to contact the Support Team.
The Forum, as you may have so far noticed, is a public open area for users to exchange experience and help. And although we from MyHeritage Team do moderate it, that is sometimes not the fastest way to get in touch with us.
And the answer for your question then is: yes, it will change automatically in your Family Tree Builder and there's nothing else you need to do other than change it online.
Thank you, and please remind me...what IS the e-mail address?
I would have used it if I could have found it. As I explained I searched for the address under Contact, where one might expect to find it.
P.S. Just because I managed to do it before, that does not mean I remember how to do it again. I suspect that at that time I looked it up and found it under Contact and you have since 'improved' the system. G.
It's the same e-mail you received my contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The reason of the Contat form is to guide the users in order to contact us in a more efficient way, leading them to send us exactly the necessary information in their message that we need to be able to locate and identify the issue faster and therefore give a faster assistence.
Would anyone happen to have any information regarding a William Gardiner b: Sep 8, 1749 and d: abt 1840(possibly spelled Gardner) who married a Mary Boon(e) b: Jan 10, 1710/11?
OR their son, William Gardiner (Gardner)b: abt 1783 d: abt 1870 who married a Susan (Susannah) James?
It is said that William & Susan were living in Exeter, RI and then later moved into the Voluntown/Griswold/Sterling area. They had 2 sons that I know of: Robert James Gardiner b:1805 in Exeter, RI and a Samuel Boon Gardiner b:1808. Samuel Boon Gardiner married Eleanor Bliven and their daughter Almira Gardiner (married Rev. Edwin Bennett) was born in Sterling, CT. Robert James Gardiner married Amey A. Bliven (yes, Amey & Eleanor are siblings).
I'm trying to prove that William Gardiner & Mary Boone are the parents of William Gardiner who married Susan James. The only thing I have to go on is a DAR lineage book that mentions Almira Gardiner in it, however, once I contacted the DAR Society, they say they have no listing for either of my 2 William Gardiners. But according to lineage book, it states that William Gardiner who married Mary Boon was a Capt. in the Revolutionary War.
There is no record of either William in the Exeter, RI town records except for the death of Robert James Gardiner which state his parents as William Gardiner and Susan James.
Sound confusing yet?
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me clear up this mystery.
I am a new convert to MyHeritage from FTM so forgive me for being a bit of a FTB numpty.
I am wanting to print .jpg images of ancestor and descendant reports as the tree owner so that I can embed them in my own family history web site. I would like to only display the birth year for any living person, but as the web master, I get the full birth date. I cannot find how to (or if indeed I can) do this.
Or enter your wife (friend, made up name, whatever) as a plain ordinary member not the webmaster, and maybe the details on 'their' My Heritage site would be useful to you. Perhaps the made up name would be best because they would not show as a relative and would not get confidential stuff....??? Dunno.
(You need an e-mail address, I think not yours, to add them as a MEMBER not just a person in your tree; but (your wife, a friend...) would probably have a different address to you; or you could start one on yahoo, gmail, whatever, for your made up person... I use yahoo...)
In Family Tree Builder choose Person (on top of the page...) then Add Unrelated Person...
On the home page, there is a "What's Next Section" One of the items is labeled "Get the most out of your MyHeritage.com family site". Below that is a horizontal bar and verbiage that says my cite is 83% complete.
What exactly does 83% complete mean. How can I find outwhat is incomplete?
You don't actually say what your e-mail is about, likely you just want to start a conversation with the owner of the tree which includes many of your relations, and share information.
When you get SmartMatches to people in the tree you could try:
first, check out the Smart Matches, comparing every detail. You will fill in lots of stuff you did not know, include more family members in the tree, and even perhaps correct some incorrect information;
and contact the owners of the other trees with the SmartMatches and start a conversation with THEM.
