I'd like to add my voice to your request to the support team to get this sorted. The inability of FTB to handle BC dates was raised at least 3 years ago and there has still (FTB7.0) been no attempt to get it right. It's not as though the problem is a difficult one to solve. As a minimum it should be possible to enter a negative value for the year (= yearBC plus 1).
I take this back! It is possible (at least in FTB7.0) to enter BCE dates in the form "55 BC", and FTB will correctly calculate from these to correct "age at fact", correct order of timelines, correct sorting of People by birth date or death date, and correct GEDCOM export files.
NB Note the space between the digit(s) and the "BC" - the BCE dates won't work without this.
Are the DNA tests done by Family Tree DNA? Family Tree DNA mantains the results online for life at no extra cost. Does this work the same way? Does this allow you to find matches as well as Family Tree DNA?
This is a great programe and I set it up 15 mths ago but havent used it since, I just reinstalled it on a new PC and after playing around with it again realised why I stopped using it, like many other PC programes it is U.S specific.
I am Australian and my heritage is british and european just like a lot of Americans but when I do a search it always takes me to U.S censis and stats so there is no chance I am going to get any relevant information about my ancestry through my searches so to me there is no point of continuing on with this and unfortunatly will be better off staying with Ancestery.com, they do search British, U.S and Australian archives
It seems odd to me that users on MH either have or intend to use Ancestry.com. in preference to MH.
One would think that both perhaps had a place in the tools of the geneaogist, but I too suffer the Australian lack and the over indulgence of the Americans. We all understand that the American market is far bigger than everone else, and MH is a businesss, but it is frustrating to have all that american "matches" and data comparison. ALL the time.
One wonderes if a structure could be developed to keep the data seperate- I am sure that the Americans dont want to bother with OUR info. I know they "OWN" the irish but we could share the Pats and pomms and let the yanks run around in their miriad of countys and states and whatever. While we - the rest of the world, would not strangle the resources. Seems to me like MH needs a USA Specific subscription and REST of World Subscription - then we would all be happy and PERHAPS ancestry.com might not be SO appealing.
I just had a smart match come up and clicked on it to reveal on my side of the match all my details for the person in my tree and the matched side, blank no name no info see link attached this is not the only time blank smart matches have come up?
It seems that for this individual, you had 2 Smart Matches which you rejected (you can see them in the rejected matches tab). This is why the pending confirmaion tab is empty.
If you get a notification for a new match, click on it but don't see it, it is possible that between the time we found the match and the time you clicked on it, the user on the other side deleted his tree or disabled Smart Matches.
I have built my family tree with the help of my brother and so we can work together on this I would like to download this onto a memory stick but haven't got the technical know how to do this. Can you help?
I downloaded the Family Tree Builder......and of course I gave even more $$ so I could have what I thought would be benifits, like looking at "record matches" nope, click it & Im told I need to get a subscription for the "data" WHAT?! I paid over $100 and I am so sorry I did. I wish I had read some of the post first. I find the site hard to use because it seems everything is duplicating, like trees, projects etc....I have a tree on Ancestry, but didnt renew due to $$ issues....but I was sucked into this one because of the fee.......what an idiot I am.
