Of course I am , like you, sweet and loving. Of course I want to see both you and I help each other and make our family history a work of art.
we could pray and say dear sugary things. Our famileis united and we are all joyous and happy and travelling down the road of love and beauty with not a care in the world and evry one else can join in at their whim.
We are, as family historians, all in search of the same thing, and want to provide foreveromre the fruits of our labours.
Ah, I must leave for a while- I think I can feel tears welling.
When I first tried (and later purchased) FTB, it was quirky but basically worked well, and customer service was excellent.
I tried World Vital Records and found in it absolutely nothing of value--which, I hasten to add, continues to be the case a year later; it is probably the worst software I have ever seen--so I cancelled my subscription. They charged me anyway. I complained. It turned out that the billing is third-party (called Plimus). I eventually received a complete refund, followed by a phone call from Israel to ask if everying had been resolved to my satisfaction. That impressed me and is one reason why I'm still a customer.
However, there has been NO improvement to Record Matching; the new SuperSearch doesn't appear to be much better. More and more, I am doing my research at ancestry.ca, and transferring the data to FTB, an incredibly tedious job given how clumsy some parts of FTB are (yes, I've put in a feature request for improvement).
From a user perspective, we'd appreciate regular updates with specific bug fixes -- and we're not seeing that from MyHeritage. The Update Wizard in V6 has never worked, and they haven't been bothered to fix that. We're seldom even seeing acknowledgements any more. There seems to be no further support for V6. We're seeing slower customer service, lack of response to customer issues, failure to respond to known software problems. Do you really think gratitude is due?
Me, I'm grateful that I stuck to V6 and didn't download V7.
Suddenly online the names of the persons does'nt show anymore. It just says "unknown". The data (birthdate, relationship etc) is still there. In mye program everything is ok? What can I do? I have republished it online several times.
I cannot find the Family Goal Option--I cannot even find an option to renew the present Premium site plan. We needed that option, as we have several foreign members who can only contribute by "chipping in" with their credit card and currency.
I only got an email saying it would automatically deduct the annual fee from my credit card, but I have no option to get 2 years to get a discount, etc. Luckily my credit card is obsolete and they won't be able to charge it.
I have 12 sites and maybe it's time to find a new home,
After almost a month, I have not received any response other than MyHeritage acknowledges there is a problem with one of my sites--the others show Family Goal but one does not, but after a month (and I am Premium Plus) NO RESPONSE at all.
We will have to abandon our site for now (and probably will for the other 10 sites) and I am going to find every Forum that will hear about this unprofessional treatment by MyHeritage.
I see so many others have had very, very unbelievable treatment and it will take some time and energy, but I think I will try to contact them each and see if we can get a Class Action Lawsuit going. I see that they remove posts on this forum that are negative, but if we post to enough other forums, perhaps that won't happen.
I will try to post places where others can post their grips and problems that have not been resolved by MyHeritage.
hi is it just me or can everybody else not see there family tree. When i go on my account i can see the first page where you can see everything you can do in your tree, but when i click family tree to see my tree i just get a black page up and no family tree, does anybody know if there is a problem going on.
Hi, yesI own the tree, but it is working again, after I download their new family tree maker .?????? Not sure why that is. Thanks away for asking, and maybe if you do the same, it will work for you. Kind regards sindberg
For the first time this evening FTB failed to start in Windows 7 (64bit).
When I try and launch the program the HD flashes as usual but nothing appears on the screen. Looking in Task Manager it shows the MyHeritage.exe is running. It remains there until I manually end the process.
I tried upgrading to v7, previously v6. Ah hah, success! It started up. I then rebooted my PC and am back to square one.
I have even tried uninstalling the application, rebooting then resintalling straight to v7 and still with no luck.
I had two sites under the same email address and specifically asked them to only delete one of them but they deleted both. and to top it all then reset my account to being basic, so when I try to reinstall my 15,000 plus tree I am over quota, raised two tickets (#2013050110005889 & #2013050210006733) but no reply in 10 days.
What are MH upto when one can not review the status of a ticket, can not contact them via a monitored email, can not phone them, are we mushrooms?
Today I have tested the sync function. I did sync my tree where I had added about 150 records, it worked OK an I could see that the uploaded project files had a size of 24,4 Mb. Then I added ONE record and did a new sync, that sync was also OK, BUT the size of the project files were....... you guessed it.... 24,4 Mb!!!!! How is that possible? Explanation please.
It depends on what kind of records you are adding to your family tree. The project file itself is a different kind of a GEDCOM file that we modified - (In FTB 7.0 we call it a UZED, in FTB 6.0 it's a ZED). So it's pretty much a regular txt file with a lot of text written in the form of a data structure.
1 record or even 150 records are just a bunch of text added to a text file.
1 character is equal to 1 byte. Which means that 1024 characters (roughly a chapter of a book) will create 1 kbyte.
We need 1 of these chapters to describe a really big note. And so it will take around 1 kbytes of your space in the computer. Most of the records that are added in your computer are just fact descriptions which don't even take a really long sentence.
I hope that the calculations are understandable. Bottom line - it would take around a 1000 records with really big notes attached to the individuals to feel the difference in the file size.
