Hi there, I just subscribed today to the Premium Plus subscription and everytime I try to look at any records I get a screen come up asking me to subscribe to data plan....do we not get access to records with a premium plus subscription?
Well thank you for answering my question. I don't know what kind of a scam they are working here but I have cancelled my subscription after one day and I WILL get my refund or Visa will be handling this...bloody ridiculous! I paid over $130 Canadian and for what?
Well, I have already contacted Visa about this as I was hoping to put a stop on the payment. I have been informed that if they do not reply to my request this week to call back Visa and their resolutions department will give me my money back and go after the company for the money. I have been down the road of companies and their scams before and I don't go away easy. If they do this kind of thing to people all the time then how come they can still keep this scam going? Pisses me off something fierce!!!
As you wrote, you Purchased a Premium Plus subscription not a Data Subscription. The Premium Plus subscription allows you to have unlimited people and storage on your site.Furthermore it gives you full access to the Smart Matches feature.
If you want to have access to all the records on the Super Search, you will have to buy a separate Data subscription or buy credits. This is because it is not possible for us to offer the historical data for free because a lot of the historical data comes from partners that require royalties on its use by customers. For example,
views of UK census records require fixed royalties to the official UK archives. We cannot give all our subscribers thisdata for free, else the content partners will not get paid, which is not possible. We also cannot subsidize these content partners by paying them, so that our subscribers could get free data.
However, please note that as a Premium Plus user you have free access to ALL MyHeritage.com collections.
There are four MyHeritage collections. These are comprised of data from MyHeritage.com and are not available anywhere else on the internet. The four MyHeritage collections are:
1. MyHeritage family sites (like the Warrick Family Web Site, or the British Celebrities Site)
2. MyHeritage members (Site Managers and Site members of MyHeritage.com)
3. MyHeritage family tree individuals (people in the family trees at MyHeritage. This could include Napoleon Bonaparte or Albert Einstein)
4. MyHeritage photos (the pictures on MyHeritage.com)
Regarding Refunds: Please note that we are a refunds friendly company. If after this explanation you are still not happy with the subscription you bought we will issue a refund ASAP. On the other hand, if you want to keep this subscription and want to get additionally a Data subscription please reply to this post and I will have one of our sales representatives to call you and explain.
Hope this post clarifies. Please do not hesitate to write for further comments or questions.
What I am not happy about is the fact that nowhere, does it say that you have to have a data subscription in the listing of subscription plans, until after you buy one and you try to view something. Any normal, everyday person, is going to think that if they pay for the top package they are going to get the goods along with it. I would definitely like a refund please and here's some advice, you may want to make a little foot note in your subscription package and where it lists what it contains, a mention of what it doesn't contain, the records, which is what most people are after. I am going back to Ancestry, at least I pay one lump sum there and no sneaky surprise requests. Such a shame. Looking forward to getting my money back, thank you.
When you buy data credits, what constitutes data and what is the relationship to credits purchased. For example, when you buy 5,600 credits for $39.95... What do you get in terms of data (records, parts of records, not all records etc)?
In general we have 5 different costs in credits for records. The cost of a record is always defined per collection, so all records of the same collection have the same cost.
Free – Some collections are free and there is no need to use any credits to view records from these collection
100 – The lowest cost is 100 credits, and most collections have this price level
200 – For some special collection we decided to give a higher price of 200 credits per record. For example, Newspaper Archives, and some immigration and military collections have this price. Also MyHeritage family trees, sites and members cost 200 credits.
500 – Currently only MyHeritage photos cost 500 credits per record.
1000 – No collection yet have this stratospheric price level
Just been reading through some of the issues people have been having with My Heritage website and wanted to just say that I haven't had these problems. Well done to the team who work hard to make this site a success and I am sure do their best to resolve issues as they come up.
I understand your cautiosness, and it is true that some individuals had problems but we are going through every single mail being sent to our support team and we are resolving these problems one by one.
Some problems take longer than others to solve.
When you do decide to upgrade we would recommend you to backup your project - just to make it feel safer for you (our version 7 automatically keeps a backup for you anyways) by going to File > Backup Project... As this is something I personally do before every upgrade of software on my computer.
Note that you can always write to us. We would be glad to hear from you.
So, do you think Richard might be an MH employee in disguise? Just kidding! Actually, even with all its flaws, MH is still the best available product on the market. Whether it's worth the additiional money to you is strictly your call. I've had a couple of problems, but for the most part they were just minor irritations, like an incessant pop-up on my desktop every time I log out of MH, which they can't give me relief from. Anyway, happy hunting!
I'm not saying it's great, just that I haven't found anything better. Obviously, you haven't either, or you would have switched, right? If you know of a better system, please share it with us. Believe me, I've been frustrated just like you. I just spent two months reconfirming three years of smart matches, which has seriously cut into my research time, and I'm getting to an age that I don't have alot of time to waste re-doing anything! If you know what I mean.
