Thank you, and yes, there is logic in what you say.
BUT; (I use mainly FBT but also check the matches in the web site because they are not yet fully synchronised, right?)
I can confirm matches, and I can reject matches. And detail of my action is forwarded to the other party. Fine.
What I can NOT do is simply delete the matches that I do not want to know about.. Or even give them a fourth designation, say 'Ignored' that would bring them to the bottom of the page, below 'rejected'. Without contact with the other party (or with contact if you can tell them I 'ignored' the match).
Especially in FBT (and probably in the web site) if I neither confirm nor reject a match it is STILL sitting there, still marked 'Undetermined', next time I look at the matches for that person. So what do I do? Check all those entries AGAIN; certainly I have no idea whether I have checked them previously and there is no provision for a note to that effect to go on the 'match'.
I use FTB. Several of the persons in my family tree are marked as unknown, despite the fact that all data are in FTB.
And I have several times changed the Primary Data Language to Danish - the same language as the Display Language. But FTB "forgets" the settings and always returns to Danish as Display Language and English as Primary Data Language.
How can I correct this and get all data shown in my famliy tree?
I think I may have the same problem. The Info dialog keep saying Used languages = English, Swedish no matter what setting in Language I use. Setting it to Same as viewing language or specificly setting the primary to swedish make no difference.
Please try the following if you find you lose data (names, places, notes) in the tree: 1. Open your tree in Family Tree Builder.2. Click on Tools > Languages.3. Right click anywhere on the window that appears.4. Select "Manage Data Languages"5. Make sure all data is copied into both languages.
The problem is that I want only Swedish and I have selected Viewing language=Swedish and Primary language=Same as viewing language. It still says English,Swedish when i get the status window at opening of the project. The same happens when I specificly set Primary language=Swedish (both languages the same).
I only have one set of data (language) to enter. I once tried out secondary language and then I got the dual language data entry dialog. But I have deactivated the secondary language after a short test.
I just created a new test project with only a Primary language and then I only get Swedish in the status window when I open the project. If I change it to have a secondary language without entering any data in the secondary language it still says only Swedish. As soon as I enter data in to the secodary language it says English,Swedish. When I deactivate the secondary language it still says English,Swedish. Even if I remove the entered data and deactivate the secondary language it says English,Swedish. So once you have activated and entered data to a secondary language you are stuck with English,Swedish in the status window even if secondary language is deactivated and the question is, Does this affect the published data with Unknown as name etc for a secondary langage?
My Heritage používám už 4 roky a nybyly s ním žádné problémy až teď.
I would like to know if there is a way to let the program/site know that one person in tree A is also member of tree B on the same site. I find it annoying when workning with fotos and smart matches that I can't create a link between the enries that refer to the same person.
Best regards,
Anna Engström
PS. Is there some thing wrong with the "How do I show one person in two locations in my online tree?"-link on http://www.myheritage.se/help/sv/? When I use it the same page opens again.
Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience.
There is currently no possible way to show that one person in a tree is also another person of another tree. From taking a look at your account I could see that you have two sites with the exact same trees in them. Would you mind telling me what is the purpose so maybe I can treat the underlying cause instead?
I'm organizing my trees to one site and there I like to have one tree for each grandparent. That means that their children, grandchildern and so on will show on severl trees. Thats the people I would like to connect so the site and program understand that theier are the same people. It would be easier when workning with photos to not set several taggs to each photo. It would all so be nice to see what realation I have to the people in diffrent trees not just one.
Thats basiclly the way I was thinking. Sugestions for approch it in a diffrent way or if the developers can make this new feathers happen later on would be nice.
How do I change how the dates are written? I use the Swedish language version, but the dates are weird, they change to the English way of writing them, no matter how i do. If I write, for exemple, "28 december 2012" like we do in Swedish, the program change it to "Dec 28 2012", where it should be "28 dec 2012". It would be really good if you could choose yourself how you want the dates to be written, but I've not find a way to change that anywhere.
Are you using the online version or FTB on its own? If you are using FTB you can set to read "dd/mm/yr" the way we do in Australia, but I think the online version uses the American way "mm/dd/yr", which, btw in my opinion, and I think a lot of others, is catering to the minority of users. From what I have seen in these forums over the years, most countries use the "dd/mm/yr" in one form or another. I think the developers should cater for EVERYONE, not only the users in USA, by changing the default to user setting.
This is a funny thing about MyHeritage, they develop the program in Israel, but use the American way of writing dates! These comments may offend Nth American users, but I stand by my comments. It is most concerning when you see dates like 11/12/2012 not knowing whether it is 11th December 2012 (which I would read it as) or 12 November 2012.
I checked the logic behind the date formats in the online family tree with the developers and I found that date formats go according to your language setting.
However, at this time, the online tree only supports US date formats when you're using the tree in English.
I immediately requested that the developers reconsider this practice and add support for UK English in order to allow the "day month year" date format.
I apologize for the inconvenience. We're doing some improvements on the family tree right now, so I'm going to try to get this pushed through quickly. I can't make promises, but I'll definitely try.....
I can't show my web-tree in classic look anymore since I discovered that the web side has been upgraded recently.
Is there anyone who knows if that option has been removed?
My grandma has four children and I was able to add three of them with her two marriages. However she has another child iinbetween the two marriages and I need to add my uncle but can't seem to without attaching him to one of the marriages. The thing is his father is unknown, no one knows who he is. Can anyone help me?
You can insert another 'spouse' (call him 'unknown' if you like; If the child's name was Mary I sometimes call him "Mary's Dad". I don't know how that affects the alphabetical lookups in the program but it sounds nicer!)
But don't check the box for 'married', check it for 'partner' (I checked the box for 'Friend' once!).
