This worked yesterday when I created the tree but now I'm unable to edit anything. Is there a setting that might make it read only that I may have accidentally activated?
If a family tree was created with Family Tree Builder, only you will be able to edit it in the Family Tree Builder program. You can publish the tree to your online family site, but it will be read-only there, which means that the family tree will be displayed in its full glory, but it cannot be edited online. We are currently developing the new system that will allow Family Tree Builder trees to be editable online as well, by you or by other family members that you designate. We will make an announcement when this is ready for launch.
Is the ability to edit online availabe yet? I'm pretty new at this, been a member for awhile but not really getting into it until now... I have uploaded my tree online, including photos... about 90 photos. I have put my grandmothers brith date in incorrctly. Do I have to edit that in my family tree builder and then re-upload my tree again? If I do that, will all my photos disappear? My family tree builder, does that have the ability to attach photos to each member and a photo album too, that way if I need to re-upload the tree again I don't have to spend that day re-loading photos again?

I capture my genealogy tree on the Tree Builder from My Heritage, when I save the information and when published the file on the My Heritage page shows all contacts as Unknown.
Which language did you creat your tree in? It is possible the problem is related to languages in Family Tree Builder.
In Family Tree Builder, it is possible to choose a DISPLAY language and a DATA ENTRY language.
DISPLAY language changes FTB’s interface only and will not affect any information that you have manually entered in the tree. In other words, DISPLAY language corresponds to all the buttons and command names in the program.
DATA ENTRY language corresponds to the information you enter into the tree yourself. Names, places, notes, etc. are considered DATA.
Problems may arise when DATA is entered in one language when the DISPLAY language is different. For example, let’s say I started a tree and chose my DATA language to be Hebrew. If I set the DISPLAY language to English and start entering information in Hebrew, at this point I will begin to encounter problems.
The reason for the problem is that when the DISPLAY language is set to English, FTB is looking for English characters. If Hebrew characters were entered, FTB won’t know how to read them because it is trying to read according to the encoding characteristics for the English language.
Due to the fact that each language has its own encoding characteristics, this problem can occur between any language pair. Even if only ONE character was entered, the problem can occur.
When this problem occurs, Family Tree Builder shows names as UNKNOWN. It can see there are people entered in the tree, but doesn’t know how to read the names and therefore displays the UNKNOWN title.
In order to fix this, please go back into the Family Tree Builder and make sure that you have the appropriate languages selected and translated.
1)Please go to the Tools menu > Languages…
Note that there are three options here, the Display language, Primary Language and Secondary Language. You will need to have the appropriate languages selected. The appropriate languages would be ones you and your family would use with the family site. For example, my family would have English and Italian selected. This will allow my Mother to view the family tree in Italian and yet, still allow me to view the tree in English.
2)Next, please again go to Tools menu -> Translation Wizard to translate the names to the Secondary Language. Why must you do this? The original entry of data for the Primary Language must be “translated” or converted into the Secondary Language. The Translation Wizard is a fast and effective way to do so. After this, republish and the tree should show fine.
Please let me know if you continue to have problems viewing your family tree.
according to dual languages I have 1 problem: I've created my family tree (in FTB|) in two languages: Slovak and Bulgarian. Than I published this tree on MyHeritage. On the WEB site I'm not able to see names in bulgarian language, just in Slovak one. Pls, send me an info, how I can switch data entry language on WEB site.
I have 2 invited members to my site both of whom i have promoted to webmaster. Neither of them can edit the site? Is this because I created the site in FTB? If so can they download the page to FTB then publish as they make changes?
I believe that the source of your problem, of why you are not able to edit your tree right now stems from the difference between these two concepts: Taking a tree from the Family Tree Building Software and publishing it online: When you take your family tree from the FTB and publish it to your family tree, you CANNOT edit the tree online. If you are looking for the ability for you and your family to edit your family tree on your family site, then this is probably not your best option. Taking your FTB family tree and pressing Export GEDOM: You can then save the Gedcom on your computer and you will then be able to go into your family site and import the gedcom that you saved. In order to import a GEDCOM on the site, go into “MyFamily” under the top left and go into the second tab which is “Family Tree”. One of the options on the right will be “Import GEDCOM”. One important note: Photos will not be transferred with the gedcom file. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to import photos. They will have to be added again manually.This is probably a better option for you, as you, and friends and family, will be able to edit the tree that has been imported to the family site. you can search for other people that have a similar last name to yours by going into 'community' and performing a search.
You can then visit sites from the list that you are given.
If you find a Family Site that has information that you are interested in, but is blocked to the public, you will need to contact the Webmaster of that site to request membership. You can do this by going to the bottom of the login page for the Family Site and select "Contact Webmaster" link. Fill out a nice message with the reason you would like to be a member and submit.
I'm a webmaster and am having trouble inporting photos from my desktop family tree to the website family tree. I've magage to get some picture through but keep running into problems with other photo's.Can anyone offer sugestions to correct this problem? Thanks
maybe they're in the wrong format, most things will only allow jpg format ( i think that's what it's called ) try going into your gallery and changing them to jpg first......
Is there any way of getting the children of a family put into chronological order. In my reports, the younger children are sometimes listed before the older children. It all seems dependant on the order in which I input their names, not on their date.
