I have a Mac so I only use the website tools. But I cannot seem to figure out how to add middle names and AKAs to the web database.
Also, I added a tag for a person in a photo and it created a pseudo person that is a duplicate of a person in my tree. So now everytime I try to tag this person in a photo, it gives me two choices, one that is the "real" person who has a record in my tree and the "fake" one that has no association in my tree.

The site automatically shows married women with husband's last name, but not all of the women in my family do this. Is there a setting I can change? I'm willing to "divorce" my husband just to get my name to show up accurately, it's driving me nuts. I've already tried "name change" as a life event, but it still defaults to husband's last name.
I'm under the impression that MyHeritage always changes the name of the wife in a marriage to that of her husband. However the off-line programme Family Tree Builder (FTB, a free download from the makers of MyHeritage) enables you to freely CHOOSE the 'married' name for the wife and if you do NOT enter anything, her surname remains her maiden name. When you subsequently publish the tree to MyHeritage (a matter of seconds), this is retained on the website. The downside is that by publishing from FTB to MH, others can not add to the tree on the web anymore. There seems to be a way around this - using a GEDCOM export/import in stead of the built-in publishing, but I have not experimented with this yet.
I've already posted this once but can't even find my own post in the forums. I can when I search for it but when I click on it, it just goes to a generic page with tonnes of old posts. I can't imagine anyone will see my query. This site needs a little boost in the user friendly department. Anyway - here's my beef. I entered my wife's information using her birth name which she has retained since our marriage. BUT when I added a picture to her profile the site sent an update bulletin and when it referred to her it used her first name and my last name (adding her maiden name parenthetically). What's up with that. Is there any way to override the patriarchal programming of this old school site? No disrespect to those who change their name - I just think that it's unforgivable for the site to do it automatically. Know what I'm sayin'?
It was surprizing to get an email from Autralia asking me to furnish some back ground details regarding one family in my Family Tree. I sent him complete details with photo graphs and the original address of the family linking it to Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddque Razi Allallah anho.
I was highly pleased to get his comments by return mail that I had done a great job to all families related to this Tree as this familly is spread over whole the globe. This family is generally known as "Siddiqi"
Even though I entered my wife in by her birth name, when the site updates it displays her with my last name and has her birth name added parenthetically. What's the deal with that? Can I alter the partriarchal settings or is this demanding that my wife take my last name? Old School. Not cool.
How do I make sure the domestic partner appears as a domestic partner and not a spouse?
My stepson, Kevin Vincent lives with Kayla Laio. They are not married. Today my sister in law emailed me that she was showing up in her birthday announcement as Kayla Vincent! Oh no! :-) We would all love to see them get married! but not like this! As soon as I saw that this is an emergency (!) I deleted Kayla. But now I want to get her back on as a domestic partner.
I can't seem to get a domestic partnership on the page without getting a wedding ring on the family tree! I tried "none" as a marital option, but the wedding ring icon still remained. Help! Ari
I need help to add a child with only a father. I mean, for example, Rosa and Paco have a child, but Paco have another child from another marriage called toni. I want to add toni to be a child of paco but no a child of the marriage of rosa and paco, just a son of paco, its possibly?
To do this you need to click on Paco to add a relative choose add a son and in that box it will probably display Rosa's name as mother. Just delete her name. I think that's how i did it!
I can't seem to select and save a specific individual in my calendar settings. After selecting a person and pushing save with extended family indicated the site says update successful but the events in the calendar are still for the whole tree and under calendar settings it still says no individual selected still. Can anyone help? Thanks.
