1. When exporting GEDCOM file from Family Tree Builder there is no option to select character set. Looking at the resulting file the CHAR is set to UTF-8 and LAN is Norwegian. This - in my situation - leads to wrong national characters. In FTB all national characters are correct. What must I do?
2. When editing in FTB (person detail edit) on the Fact sheet there is always a fact called 'Reference Number'. I understand the term but if I do not use it how can I ignore it when creating reports? As it is now it just becomes a sentence dangling without any meaning in the section "Other events in the life of XXXX".
3. I am not able to include Notes in reports, neither at person level or in the end of the report.
Hello, I just started building my tree tonight. I built my side of the family first and then added my inlaws. I can only seem to see one side or the other ... eg if I want to see my husband's side I have to click those little bubbles above his name... and then my side of the family disappears! What am I doing wrong? I have been on someone elses site and I know I should be able to see the 'whole' tree at the same time.
If you use Family Tree Builder (and if not it is available...) and look at the family in FTB in Tree view, with the Generations slider to the right to show the maximum people, you can see a lot of the family around the 'main' person.
It is not restricted to family branches like the web site, just what will fit in the screen.
Except you can only see details of the one marriage at a time so if your main person has several spouses that may be inconvenient; the on-line site DOES show multiple partners and their children I think.
So you can see different views of the family in the two separate (programs, whatever...)
I have two screens so can look at both at the same time; the two screens are a great advantage and not expensive these days. I got the pair when my existing single screen died...
I have 4 trees in our site. The Keenedy Tree , The Zeman Tree , Holton Family Tree and Downs Family Tree. Only the Holton Family Tree shows relationships when viewing people in the tree. None of the other 3 trees is working. What seems to be the problem. Kathleen Zeman
The reason that you are only seeing relationships in one of your fmaily trees and not in all is due to association of yourself to the family tree. You may only be associated to one family tree at a time.
To read alittle more about association please take a look at the following link from our Help center that I have provided for you.
Dean , thanks for the information. It helps .. and doesn't help the situation. Let me expalin the best I can. If this doesn't make sense , then please call me anytime to discuss the details at 207-469-0534. The main site person is Kathleen Ann Kennedy .. my wife. I am Vincent James ( Jim ) Zeman. We both have our own trees , The Kennedy Tree and The Zeman Tree plus 2 other trees. The " Site Member " with the " Crown" next to her name is my wife Kathleen Ann Kennedy. I tried to change " fix relations " for her but the system will only let me change this to " some female names " but no males. Consequently , I cannot change it to my name in order to look at relationships in my tree. If I go into " Site Members " and change my wife from female to male then I can edit the " fix relations " to " male names only ". This doesn't seem right but that is the way it is working. Try it yourself. You can't hurt anything. Call me if you would like to discuss. Thanks

sorry.. but this is not quite correct... I have 3 trees, all of them my roots... but only one is showing the relationships.. have asked same question some time ago and the response I got was, that only the "main" tree is showing the relations... if I have more than one tree on the site.. only one tree is marked as main tree....
this was the reason why I had combined all different trees into one.. to be able to see the relations.... so, perhaps one can get a correct response from the myHeritage site about this issue...
Each user or member can see the site in the language that they want.
Family sites can be viewed in any of these 39 languages regardless of the language the Site Manager created the site in. This is especially beneficial for people who have relatives around the world. Each family member can view the site in his/her native language.
Keep in mind that the site navigation (buttons, menus, etc.) are changed to a different language, but any data you entered to the site will always remain in the language you entered it in (for example: first name, surname, facts and notes that you add in the site).
If you need to change your site language, use the language selector in the upper right hand side of the screen.
Click on it and then click on the language that you want the family website to be displayed in. This selector can be found on every page at MyHeritage.com.
We currently don’t have the option to privatize single individuals for trees that were originally created online, or for GEDCOM trees.
You can privatize a single individual in a tree that you created in the Family Tree Builder software. Once you sync this tree with your family site, individuals whom you set as private in Family Tree Builder will be privatized online too.
In order to privatize specific individuals in your tree in Family Tree Builder, please do the following:
1. Open your tree in Family Tree Builder software on your computer.
2. Find the individual whom you would like to privatize. Click on ‘Edit’ to edit the person’s details.
3. Go into the ‘More’ tab and make sure to check the option ‘This person is private’ (as in the picture below).
Sync your tree with your site. All your site members and site managers, including you, should now see that individual as ‘Unknown’ on your family site.
You can also apply privacy settings not only to people, but to facts, notes and sources in Family Tree Builder.
Hei.
