The great smart match engine found a read link between my family tree and another family's tree. Is there a way to just point from one tree to another or do we need to really merge the two families trees?
I'm glad to hear you were successful with Smart Matches. One does not merge trees with Smart Matches, trees are always kept separate and maintained and owned by their respective owners. The correct procedure is to hyperlink the trees. This will be supported soon in the next release of our improved Smart Matching functionality. For now, please wait with further changes and just stay in touch with the other tree and see all that you can learn from it.
Which of your sites has this problem? I see you own "Sreekumar Web Site" with a family tree of 278 people that you've built online, and "SreekumarFamily Web Site" with a family tree of 460 people that you've built using Family Tree Builder and then published it online. Your Premium subscription is on the latter. If you are unable to add more people to the tree on the latter, perhaps it's because you're trying to grow the tree online. Instead, add more in Family Tree Builder and publish again.
With regards to adding members to your family site, this is done by sending invitations. I see you've invited 6-7 people to each of your family sites as members. So please clarify where the problem is and what the problem is in more detail. Best regards,
I have the same problem adding people not at my local family tree builder, but online. I'm a member in another family tree, and I can make changes there that is a basic family tree plan. I'm in a premium but I would like that my family could make their changes or add family members directly.
You are using a Family Tree Builder tree, so your relatives cannot make changes directly. This will be possible only in Family Tree Builder 5.0 (which is being designed now, but will take some time until released). This version will allow family trees published online to be editable online, with the changes synchronizing back to your computer. So for now, you will have to ask your family members to email you changes that they are requesting, and you will need to make them.
The problem is with Sreekumar Family website. i have created it in my system but my system got formated. now i dont want it online like the other. so that i can manage it any were. so please help me with that. As I want to update it now. i dont want to install your software as it is easy over the web.
Your online tree is fine. I even see in the newsfeed on your site that you've updated the details of one of the people in the tree today. You cannot grow the tree, however, because it exceeds the maximum number of people allowed on the free Basic plan. The maximum is 250 and you're at 278. This is clearly displayed in various banners on your site. Because you've been a good member of ours and you've already purchased Premium on your other site, I decided to give you a free Premium subscription for one year on this site. You should now be able to add more people freely, up to the limit of 2,500. Enjoy,
The relationship displayed is calculated automatically. It works like this: when a site member is visiting the site, if the member is associated with an individual in the tree, then all relationship between that member and other individuals can be calculated. If you are visiting your own site and the relationships you are seeing for yourself are based on your son (e.g. you are looking at your wife and it says "mother"), it means that your member got associated incorrectly with your son in the tree. Let me know if that's the case. If it is, fixing it is easy and I will explain how to do it next.
ok, I fixed it for you. The problem was caused by a failed automatic association, because of the fact that you and your son have exactly the same name (except for the suffix).
It make take up to 24 hours for the fix to take effect because of technical reasons (caching) but you should be all right now.
When I add photos to FTB, the program repeatedly has an error and shuts down. The report with the error that shows up on the Microsoft error box is very long and very detailed. This is some of what it says:
I wrote awhile back about problems adding photos, and over the past several months I have been able to add photos without a problem. I added a lot of photos yesterday successfuly, but on the latest batch,h I'm receiving this message when it shuts down on its own:
Microsoft Visual C Runtime Library abnormal program termination
Can you tell me what I need to do to fix this problem?
