Go to the top right side of the screen where your name is.
Beneath your name choose no. 3: in Norwegian "Nettside innstillinger" or "Konto for nettside". In the new webside choose no. 2 from the left: "Mine innstillinger".
I hope this works and that you get a understanding of what the norwegian words means :)
After merging to familytrees in Family Tree Builder, the tree is parted in two in MyHeritage. I see my family in one space and have to click on my husband's name to view his part of the family.
Is there any way I can fix this so I can see the whole tree in one big family in MyHeritage?
It gets like this when there is a surten amount of persons in the tree. If you choose one of your children then you will see bouth your and your husbands tree.
One of my female ancestors had two children out of wedlock but married another person much later in life. The problem is that the Family Tree Builder shows this man as the natural father of the two children, which he is not.
If I try to change him to the adopted father, their natural mother is automatically changed to their adoptive mother
How can I show the correct relationship and status
I don´t have the answer, but am also searching for how to manage, when only one of the married couple owns a child, which is quite common now a days. ;-(
I think that the best solution is to add another spouse to the known parent. If you don't know or don1t want to show his or her name call him or hel as 'Unknown'. Then add the child to this person.
Thank you for your reply. The suggestion is certainly better than what I have now, but this involves creating a "Spouse" which interprets as unknown husband.
As she never married the father(s) the my heritage module should allow for a single parent to be shown correctly.
As Helle points out, this is a common occurrence these days
You are right! But please consider, that everybody has two biological patents! If you do not want your family tree to show the 'unknown' parent, when you are ready with all childrens and spouses of the person delete the 'Unknown' parent. (Edit / Person / Delete person).
This problem can be solved by choosing the type of connection between spouses. You can give it on the route: Edit /Sposese / Manage spouses / Under 'Married' you can choose what you find satisfactory.
No actually even if you chose their realtionship as "Other" the system claims they were married at one point.
This issue is really bother me as well. I have a child that was born of two people in a very short term relationship and the woman later on married a new man which also adopted the child.
I can chose to have the child's biological parents shown as married (even when selected as other) - which is totally unacceptable, or I can have the biological mother and her husband both shown as adoptive parents. The system is clearly not capable to support multiple family situations.
Thank you for the message. As I checked you are building tree by using Family Tree Builder software, and all changes you need to do via Family Tree Builder software. The trees which were published from Family Tree Builder to the site are not editable online. Kindly let me know if you need more assistance.
It is MOST difficult to find a person for me, I put the names, birth, death, marriage, location in the search form and am served HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of names with NO rational order that might allow me to not have to plow through all of them in search of that well defind person.
Searching for me is the example, I've lived in one place for 30 years , in the area for more decades, have had a security clearance for around 60 years so should be easy to find all about me! How do you 'seasoned' members do it??
To be honest I do not use it. Tried it a couple of times without much success. I found a couple of relatives in the English Births, Deaths and Marriages, and some nice detail about someone in the United States. It could be quite helpful for Americans; but what it needs is some parameters I can set, the first one being, DO NOT (unless I specially ask) tell me about people in the USA. Each time I tried to search I got hundreds of American entries and none or almost none for my own country, Australia. If the program is improved so that you can at least select a country it might be useful, otherwise, I just can't spare the time.
This is not a new message thread but have to add my heartfelt agreement.
The flood of American data completely ruins this feature and setting birthplace and death location etc makes no difference.
Sometimes I will do the search, then skip to about page 15 because from that point non-Americans start appearing.
It can help to search only within MyHeritage trees too, but you need a fairly unique name.
I paid so much money for the full data subscription, too, and I've never been able to use it. Not once in the last year has it located information about an individual from my tree other than coming against the 'WorldVitalRecords' subscription payment page.
Geoff, you are 100% correct: the parameter we need is, 'Exclude American Data', then everything else might be worth looking through.
Still hoping MyHeritage are working on this issue, could be a very nice feature when fully functional.
I am the Site Manager for my family tree. If an invited member starts building their own tree (off of what I have already created), are those additions applied to my family tree size limit?
I currently have the settings limited to where I am the only one who can edit and make changes, but would consider allowing members to edit their own material if I can understand how that effects my limits.
The limit is fixed for every website. If you allow the memebers of your website to edit your family tree, the limit (250 persons) will be the same. So if they add persons to the tree you will be nearer to the limit.
Please note, that the members of your website may have their own website without your permission. They can build their own tree there and you may be a member of their website if they invite you and in this case you can see their tree.
I have added several unrelated people to my tree and was wondering if I could link them to certain members (i.e. business partners, neighbours). Is this possible?
