my copy of the software just downloaded today will not recognise that im connected by ADSL broadband, i had to download the complete package as the install would not download, now I cannot registed because it says im not connected, i registered via firefox to do this message.
I am searching using the search function of FTB newest version.Clicking on the search button I get a window "Searching for persons (in german: Personen suchen". In this window I can put in a number under "date", which works fine. But if I put in a name under "Vorname" or "Nachname" I find no names under "search results". it doesn't matter what letter i put in, it screen stays clear. The progam continues running, no crash, no error messages at all. Reinstalling the newest version or even installing older versions after cleaning the registry makes absolutely no difference.
This happens only with Windows 7, under XP or Vista (which I discarded :_)) the program and search function run fine. I don't use SmartSearch at this moment, the program runs standalone until I have my tree ready to publish.
In my opinion (I am in the IT business as a programmer myself) this could be a problem of registering the database search engine withWindows 7.
Thank you very much for helping me. I don't know if other people have the same problem.
Windows7 is using another place to store the cfg files, so I copied them to /user/appdata/myhertitage/cfg and voila, presto: it works again.
I would recommend using a common place for all windows versions to store data, best would be in the /program files/myheritage/Cfg section so there would be no confusion.
Another -small- problem: MyHeritage does not seem to accept dates before christ, or am I mistaken? I tried putting a - in front, as would be logical, but this does not work. Maybe you could change this in a future version for those of us who are researching (old) Romans and Greeks... :-))
Thanks a lot for your program which is still the best around,
You an add as many Occupation facts as you wish by going into the details for a specific person in Family Tree Builder. You will then see a 'facts' tab. You can choose to add a new fact, and you should see Occupation as one of your options.
Thanks for your answer. I guess that I put them in another tab on the details form. Can you tell me what the intention is with the two different places to put in the 'same' information? (where there is space for 2 entries and the more generic fact tab with space for unlimited(?) entries)
