First let me say I hate your weird contact form, I can't work it out. If I have a problem I want to go to a standard contact form, not get lost in a mess of questions and answers. I'll look through them all by myself.
Hence the question here, I couldn't work the form in Help.
A relation and myself have family sites with exactly the same name. It will be a lot less confusing if one of us changes.
I have read "How can I change the name of my family site", but I have a further question;
If I follow those instructions, will the name change in Family Tree Builder as well or is there something else I need to do?
Would anyone happen to have any information regarding a William Gardiner b: Sep 8, 1749 and d: abt 1840(possibly spelled Gardner) who married a Mary Boon(e) b: Jan 10, 1710/11?
OR their son, William Gardiner (Gardner)b: abt 1783 d: abt 1870 who married a Susan (Susannah) James?
It is said that William & Susan were living in Exeter, RI and then later moved into the Voluntown/Griswold/Sterling area. They had 2 sons that I know of: Robert James Gardiner b:1805 in Exeter, RI and a Samuel Boon Gardiner b:1808. Samuel Boon Gardiner married Eleanor Bliven and their daughter Almira Gardiner (married Rev. Edwin Bennett) was born in Sterling, CT. Robert James Gardiner married Amey A. Bliven (yes, Amey & Eleanor are siblings).
I'm trying to prove that William Gardiner & Mary Boone are the parents of William Gardiner who married Susan James. The only thing I have to go on is a DAR lineage book that mentions Almira Gardiner in it, however, once I contacted the DAR Society, they say they have no listing for either of my 2 William Gardiners. But according to lineage book, it states that William Gardiner who married Mary Boon was a Capt. in the Revolutionary War.
There is no record of either William in the Exeter, RI town records except for the death of Robert James Gardiner which state his parents as William Gardiner and Susan James.
Sound confusing yet?
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me clear up this mystery.
I am a new convert to MyHeritage from FTM so forgive me for being a bit of a FTB numpty.
I am wanting to print .jpg images of ancestor and descendant reports as the tree owner so that I can embed them in my own family history web site. I would like to only display the birth year for any living person, but as the web master, I get the full birth date. I cannot find how to (or if indeed I can) do this.
Or enter your wife (friend, made up name, whatever) as a plain ordinary member not the webmaster, and maybe the details on 'their' My Heritage site would be useful to you. Perhaps the made up name would be best because they would not show as a relative and would not get confidential stuff....??? Dunno.
(You need an e-mail address, I think not yours, to add them as a MEMBER not just a person in your tree; but (your wife, a friend...) would probably have a different address to you; or you could start one on yahoo, gmail, whatever, for your made up person... I use yahoo...)
In Family Tree Builder choose Person (on top of the page...) then Add Unrelated Person...
On the home page, there is a "What's Next Section" One of the items is labeled "Get the most out of your MyHeritage.com family site". Below that is a horizontal bar and verbiage that says my cite is 83% complete.
What exactly does 83% complete mean. How can I find outwhat is incomplete?
You don't actually say what your e-mail is about, likely you just want to start a conversation with the owner of the tree which includes many of your relations, and share information.
When you get SmartMatches to people in the tree you could try:
first, check out the Smart Matches, comparing every detail. You will fill in lots of stuff you did not know, include more family members in the tree, and even perhaps correct some incorrect information;
and contact the owners of the other trees with the SmartMatches and start a conversation with THEM.
Unfortunately we do not provide this option due to the fact that the idea of the family site is to share information amongst your family members and those that you trust and invite to become members of your family site.
You do however have the option to adjust your family site privacy settings to best suite your needs.
This can be done by logging into your online family site and moving your mouse cursor over your name in the upper right hand corner of the screen. A menu will drop down and you will need to click on "My Privacy". Here you will have the option to adjust your family site privacy settings for My Member preferences, Access and content.
I've entered an incorrect name for one of my husband's relatives but I can't see how to edit it. Help says click on the sign on the Person Card but none of my Person Cards have signs? I don't seem to be able to do anything with my Family Tree now, which is a shame as my interest in my family history has been reignighted after quite a while as I have heard from a couple of relatives.
Could you explain that a bit more simply for me?
How can I edit my FTB tree?
Should I synchronise my online tree & FTB tree? (I didn't even realise that I had two trees!) & if yes than how do I do that?
Sorry to sound so stupid. I have memory problems & as it is some time since I las visited MyHeritage I think I've just forgotten how to work it!
I really appreciate you replying to my question.
Hm, where should I start my explanation? Let's try like this:
I visited your website where your tree is published. On the start page I saw that your tree has been published via FTB, "Patricia Stevenson published a new version of the Tricia_Stevenson family tree from the Family Tree Builder" (March 24). That means that you must have created your tree using the offline Family Tree Builder software and the published your tree to your website? At least this is what is says.
This is also reflected in the appearance of your tree, the " " signs below the person cards are missing, and thus you cannot edit your tree online.
Have a look into your FTB files - there must be some, otherwise you would not have been able to publish your tree via FTB. And also you should look whether your FTB software is updated to the latest version.
The most recent versions of FTB have a synchronization feature included. When you start FTB you are asked whether you want to synchronize your FTB to your online tree. Once you have done the synchronization then you will be able to edit both online and offline trees.
