stop bragging ha ha i will work it out. i wonder when i backed up all my photos and things from the old computer i actualy thought i was backing up the tree but it turned out to be nothing so i thought i wonder if this was a link and putting that back on might restore it for me. thinking things through with you may have just given me an idea. will let you know how i get on.
You can restore your family tree from your family site.
Keep in mind you have two family trees. One tree you used to work on in Family Tree Builder and the other you edit direclty online so you won't need to restore that one. You can just keep working on it from your family site.
The tree you want to restore is listed as an FTB (Family Tree Builder) tree in the Manage Trees page.
From the Manage Trees page, click on MORE and then "Download to Family Tree Builder". A small window will appear asking if you would like open the file or save it.
Save the file. Remember where you saved it!!
Install Family Tree Builder.
Go back to the location on your computer where you saved the family tree file. Double click on it to open it in Family Tree Builder.
You will be prompted to restore any photos in the tree when you open the tree in the program for the first time.
When I compare the content of the profiles in FTB and MH, I see MORE details in FTB. E.g. I added in some profiles in my first data in verwandt.de the date and place of christening, which I now can see in MH, but cannot see/add/modify in FTB. In V.DE one was able to add plenty of additional data in the profiles. When will this be available in MH?
V.DE provided a sophisticated print prcedure for printing family trees. One was able to controll the amount of sheets to be printed on. in addition cutting marks could be printed, so one was able to glue together the tree - I would urgently appreciate this possibility.
I'm trying to print my family tree chart that I've updated in the last days.
No way to get it . Yesterday I was lucky to get one, but there were only empty frames and no names or dates. I chose everything I required in the settings, names and dates included. I get the usual message
Your chart is being generated now. This typically takes a few minutes. When it is ready you will receive an email with a link to view it.
I'm having trouble fixing an email address. I made the error (missed a letter) and need to edit / re-enter it. I've gone thru a series of screens - online - and haven't came across an edit function. Also entered the correct addy in my FTB , published it but that didn't change a thing.
Thanks for the response. Follow the instrucs and all is well.
I find it kind of circle to do it when the field could be edited at the first screen. Maybe an option that could be programmed in.. I also have noticed that a large number of forum articles have the same topic.
The login for MyHeritage.com cannot use the same password used on Verwandt, because it was not possible to transfer these passwords. For security reasons, passwords are not stored as-is and cannot be transferred. You should still use the same email address to log in, but set a new password for yourself. The first time you visited MyHeritage.com from Verwandt, you were prompted to enter a new password. If you no longer remember what that password was, click the login link that should appear in the top right corner of any MyHeritage.com screen, and then click the "Forgot password" link. You will receive instructions via email for setting a new password on MyHeritage.
The situation is special with the Verwandt users because of terms that were guaranteed to them on Verwandt before being acquired by MyHeritage. Their imported trees receive special status on MyHeritage, but not any new trees opened by those members. Those special terms do not provide premium support, which you are entitled to receive on MyHeritage as a Premium member, and nor do they receive the Premium version of Family Tree Builder.
It's a little early to discuss right now what will happen if you decide a year from now to downgrade your membership. It would be best to wait and see what best terms we will be able to offer our users on the Basic plan, in January 2011. It is possible, that the terms will be superior. Or, you may find that you want to keep the Premium subscription, or upgrade it to PremiumPlus. Currently, we are continuing to offer Premium users who stopped paying, the Premium support, which other users are not enjoying. So as a Premium member of MyHeritage now, you have access to benefits that others do not have.
