EDIT: Ok, it seems to be a bug(or maybe it's a feature):
the file was exported from a copy of FTB that uses english as data input language and to a version that has another input language so it wouldn't show up. However if I changed to english or added it as a secondary language all the info would show up.
It would be nice to have an option in the import GEDCOM wizard to convert or just copy all the information to your current primary language if FTB detects that there is information in the file written under another language.
If a person has the information "Born in: New York, USA" in english and the primary laungage is something else I would still want the birthplace information without having to hunt for it.
When you import the file to Family Tree Builder (File > Import GEDCOM)
make sure you choose the correct data language.
You can verify what that language is beforehand, by opening the GEDCOM file with Notepad. You will see the language at the top of the file.
After the GEDCOM is imported into Family Tree Builder, you might find that you see the names in the tree, but if you double click on one of the cards, its empty. In this case, go to the Language menu > Advanced language options,
and make sure the Main data language is set to the GEDCOM's original data language, and not only the display language.
What's the best way to collaborate with relatives on a project where everyone has the MyHeritage software?
Right now we have the database-folder synced with Microsoft Live Mesh on all our computers and I've read somewhere that there is an upcoming feature for Family Tree Builder which let's several users edit a family tree.
Until then: what's the best way of making sure the family tree is up-to-date on all our computers?
Have anybody a tip how could I resolve 2 marriges between 2 families without double position in family tree? (For example - my brother could be married with a sister of my husband)
I have my family site in Potuguese (Portugal) and most members receive email alerts in Portuguese, however one member living in Brussels receives emails in Dutch. Is there a means of customizing the language for email alerts?
Each family site member has an option in his/her profile to select the language they would prefer to receive newsletters in. (FYI - there is no option for Site Managers to select language for individual members.)
If you invite a new member and we are not yet aware of his/her preferred language, emails will be sent to him/her in the language you have currently selected. (If you wanted to send an invitation in Dutch, switch the site language to Dutch for a moment and send the invitation.)
If a member has not set his/her preferred langugage, but he/she is already a member of MyHeritage.com, we look at they language they select most often and send mails in this language.
