"Да" is checked on the item "Могут ли участники сайта редактировать семейное дерево" on my site in "Параметры - Конфиденциальность - Участники" but the member can't add data to family tree. Must I change some settings?
We currently don't have a way to make only one member Read-Only.
We are planning to add this feature in the future.
In the Settings > Privacy > Members menu you can turn off editing privileges for all members of your family site.
Cheers,
Jaiel
Hi Jaiel, Thanx for your attention, this option will be very appreciated:
Sometimes I managed to find potential relatives from other family trees on your site (and some extra sites, too). I would like to show them my tree for examination and looking for common ancestors... But I don't want to grant read-write access to my site for unknown people. As well, I don't want to turn off editing privileges for all existing members of the family site via "Settings > Privacy > Members" menu. So, there is no solution currently.
In general, it would be useful to implement an option for granting view-only access to my site/tree for individual Myheritage.com users without having them to become members of the family site ! Sure, it would be much easier to contact people across your site (and make genealogic searches through each others' trees) with this option!
Hi - I have a similar problem, but can't seem to find the "attach" function you're talking about. I have a very-distant ancestor who my wife is also related to by marriage. I've read and re-read the linked article and can't seem to figure it out.
You build your tree online (rather than using our family tree software - Family Tree Builder). The attach function is not yet available for online trees.
My tree has more than 10 cousins (first and second cousins) marrying each other. What will I do without repeating or duplicating the entries on the tree. ty
i had to buy a new computer but now have no family tree builder on the new one. how do i get my tree from the website to my computer so i can continue working on it.
stop bragging ha ha i will work it out. i wonder when i backed up all my photos and things from the old computer i actualy thought i was backing up the tree but it turned out to be nothing so i thought i wonder if this was a link and putting that back on might restore it for me. thinking things through with you may have just given me an idea. will let you know how i get on.
You can restore your family tree from your family site.
Keep in mind you have two family trees. One tree you used to work on in Family Tree Builder and the other you edit direclty online so you won't need to restore that one. You can just keep working on it from your family site.
The tree you want to restore is listed as an FTB (Family Tree Builder) tree in the Manage Trees page.
To restore:
From the Manage Trees page, click on MORE and then "Download to Family Tree Builder". A small window will appear asking if you would like open the file or save it.
Save the file. Remember where you saved it!!
Install Family Tree Builder.
Go back to the location on your computer where you saved the family tree file. Double click on it to open it in Family Tree Builder.
You will be prompted to restore any photos in the tree when you open the tree in the program for the first time.
When I compare the content of the profiles in FTB and MH, I see MORE details in FTB. E.g. I added in some profiles in my first data in verwandt.de the date and place of christening, which I now can see in MH, but cannot see/add/modify in FTB. In V.DE one was able to add plenty of additional data in the profiles. When will this be available in MH?
V.DE provided a sophisticated print prcedure for printing family trees. One was able to controll the amount of sheets to be printed on. in addition cutting marks could be printed, so one was able to glue together the tree - I would urgently appreciate this possibility.
