How do I change the ID on a person? my list have redone it self and do not have the same person as number one any more witch make thewrong person as start person on the site..
The ID numbers for people in your tree in Family Tree Builder, are internal to the programming of the tree, and are not editable.
Please note: you may notice more ID numbers than people in the tree. The reason for this is ID numbers are not re-used when people are deleted. Therefore, ID numbers can exceed the actual number of individuals in the tree.
In order to change the home person in the website, please go to Settings > Home Page > Other.
In the lower part of the window, you can pick a specific person to be the home person (starting point).
If you want to change it in the FTB program, right click on your genealogy card, Person > Set as home person.
After almost 40 years, my long lost brother and I have finally found each other. We have just joined Heritage to create our family tree to share not only with future generations, but with the rest of the family.
I've not used this program before, and while I've looked through the FAQ, this doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere. Is there any way for several people to edit the info on the family tree? I've looked all over trying to find a way to edit details but can't seem to find anything that looks like I'd be able to add/change information. It seems that it would be a lot of work for the one person to take on (knowing how big our family is). So can multiple Editors exist in this program? Is it maybe something only available to Premium Users, as we're currently using the free program.
All help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks so much!
When you work on your tree in Family Tree Builder and publish your tree from Family Tree Builder instead of creating it on your family site, this prevents anyone (including yourself) from editing your tree online. In order to update your tree, you will then have to re-publish from your family site, and your tree will be replaced with the newly published one. This method only allows for one editor of the tree.
Alternately, you can create your tree on your family site. This allows for your site members to collaborate and add to your tree.
If you have already created a tree in Family Tree Builder, and wish to convert it to one that is editable online by you and your members, please see the following post in our FAQ:
I think, directly is it not possible, because not allowed edit html source of articles. Try save it to picture/document storage and to activities insert link, or at the worst pick it anywhere on internet and again insert only link. (Its only idea, I do not know if is it functionaly, i am not experienced with flash)
I have a problem I can not access my tree because Im suposed to have over 250 people in my tree I dont know how its happend but the trees are a copy of each other so how can I deleat one of them Thanks for reading I just hope someone can help me with this problem regards June
Let us see what the OP says, but it seems to me she has a single tree that contains (presumably unintentionally ) a duplicate and she has been locked out because it exceeds the size of the free online tree.
I thought she wanted to get in to delete the duplicate entries.
"...the trees are a copy of each other so how can I deleat one of them."
She wrote TREES not TREE, and want delete ONE OF THEM. I understand, that she has now two identical trees. Maybe, second published from FTB under a little different name? I do not know, but cannot see into her strictly closed website, how many trees she has. If I misundersood, so very sorry.
At this situation we must break this thread and wait to MyHeritage support intervention. Thank you DAS for consulting and replying.
Especially given that the OP made a number of spelling and minor grammatical errors (common among English speakers in this type of exchange) I think you are concentrating too much on the exact words instead of the broad meaning.
However, you do have a lot of experience in this field and, as there is a difference of interpretation of the OP question, I wonder if it weren't better if the OP (i.e. June Bradbury) clarified what she meant, since any proposed solution obviously depends on it.
Of course, MH tech support may know exactly what was meant.
If you mean common edit window on website: I think, programmers have not enabled switching option to advanced editting interface. (This may switch icon bar to extended version, where is icon HTML too.) I am missing this option too...
About font: simplest way is, zoom whole view via inet browser option. (In MSIE right bottom corner appears 100% by default)
When I published my family tree some of the people were marked as private. Why is this and how can I change it. Those marked as private, their pictures do not show.
I started creating family tree online. Now i've downloaded the Family Tree Builder programm. Can I restore / upload the information that i've created online into the FTB? The dialog window says that this option is "coming soon" - when is it expected to be implemented? It would be very time consuming to start building the tree again on computer, which also may result in discrepancies and/or duplications when i try to publish it online in the future.
You must export data in GEDCOM format, then import it into MH website, or into MH FTB software. Even if Wikipedia says, that is not possible export GEDCOM from TMG, I found two sources, which says yes:
I'm trying to print out an ancestor fan chart and it's printing out across 6 A4 pages. I want to have it just print out on one page. How do I set up the program to do this?
